Peaceful Cabin

This place was so comfortable and peaceful. The hummingbirds greeted us every day. Plenty of room for everyone. The cabin was really clean and we loved the kitchen. The owners were really helpful as to giving directions to the cabin and places to visit close by. They returned phone calls and e-mails quickly also. We loved the quaint town of Burnsville and Ingles was a plus. Get ready to see lots of deer and turkeys which were really enjoyable to watch. I would return again for our next family reunion and I would recomend the cabin to others..

Good place for large group

The cabin was very nicely furnished and very clean. However, there were quite a few damaged items we noticed upon our arrival. Make sure you report these so you don't get charged for them upon your departure. The room configurations worked very well for multiple families. The kitchen was very nicely stocked with pots, pans, dishes and silverware Overall, it was a nice place to stay.

Owner response:We try to keep the cabin very clean and neat. Sometimes there is not time to repair something between guest's visits (ie order a part or such). When we have feedback from guests we are able to get things taken care of more quickly. Thank you

We stayed here in August of 2009 and had a great time. It was a perfect layout for a group of couples. We were there for a motorcycle trip, and while the driveway is tricky with an inclined gravel switchback, it isn't that bad if you have the passenger dismount first. There was plenty to do for everyone while home. It was a good value and everyone agreed they would like return to this home at some point. The small town of Burnsville doesn't have much in the way of restaurants or entertainment but they have an Ingles Supermarket that is very impressive. I highly recommend visiting the Little Switzerland area if staying in this area.

The house was absolutely lovely and very well represented by the on-line photos. We had 11 people riding motorcycles and had a plenty of room (especially when the weather turned bad and had to spend more time in the cabin than originally anticipated). The kitche was very well equiped and the center of all activity. If I could take this kitchen, mudroom and front porch home with me, I would. This was the most comfortable I have every been away from home. Thank you very much. Warning: If you are an inexperienced bike rider, this road is not for the weak for hearts!!!!!!!!

To say this a gorgeous cabin really doesn't describe it. One can only hope they see it. The views were awesome and the interior of cabin is spectacular. Myself and the other 10 in our group had a great time and enjoyed everything except the driveway as it is NOT motorcycle friendly and should be listed that way but with that said if anyone reading this rents the Davis Cabin they will be thoroughly impressed from arrival to departure.

Great Cabin on the hill

Guest: Snake Charmer (DeBary, FL)
Date of Stay: 10/10/09 Review Submitted: 10/28/09

Recently 10 of my motorcycling friends and I rented the Davis Cabin and the cabin is gorgeous. The kitchen is enormous as is the entire cabin. The owners have taken a great deal of time to decorate it and they did a great job. We never had an issue with having people under foot since 4500 sq ft is huge. The beds are comfortable and the showers always had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The views are awesome and sitting around the fire pit at night was more fun than I remember. The only negative of the cabin was the driveway. We were all on motorcycles and the driveway is not motorcycle friendly, regardless of your experience, if it is the least bit wet. I would however highly recommend the cabin to anyone that is traveling by car or truck as the cabin is fantastic but motorcyclists should think twice.

This lodge is wonderful. We take a trip to the mountains every year and this year was the best one of them all. The house is huge with enough seating for everyone. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub watching it snow. If you have a big group of people this house is perfect!!!

Our family reunion is held at a different vacation area each year. We stayed at this cabin Sept. 12-18, 2009. The Davis Family Lodge is everything the website depicts plus more. We found the house to be beautifully decorated, very clean, comfortable, and well stocked, with plenty of good quality towels, linens, etc. We loved the huge kitchen and seating area, since we cooked for our crowd every night except the day we arrived. The huge tile showers were beautiful as well as functional. The 3 jacuzzi tubs are huge, but I'm not sure anyone used them. We made great use of the hot tub, however. The cabin is secluded with great privacy, yet close enough to amenities in Burnsville that we didn't feel isolated. We were also close enough to the fun things we wanted to do. We went whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking, visited Linville Caverns & Linville Falls, visited the Biltmore Estate & places of interest along the Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. The mountain views in the area are spectacular, even from the cabin. Cindy can give you my email address if you want any more specific information about the cabin or the area. You will not be disappointed if you decide to rent this property for your group.

Awesome cabin, gorgeous & well maintained.

Our family reunion (15 adults) stayed at this cabin Sept. 12-18, 2009. The website description is very accurate. We found the house to be beautifully decorated, very clean, comfortable (including the beds), with excellent maintenance, and well stocked, with plenty of good quality towels, linens, etc. Some of us with bad backs appreciated the extra pillows & pillowcases, as I have to sleep with a pillow between my knees. We loved the huge well-stocked kitchen (with 2 refrigerators) and seating area, since we cooked for our crowd nearly every night. All the extras that we used, like crock pots, blender, coffee makers, etc., were in good working condition. The 3 jacuzzi tubs & tile showers are huge. The water heater is HUGE, & plenty adequate for a crowd. We made great use of the hot tub, & grilled on the gas grill one night. There is a foosball table, which we did not use, but we did make use of the nice pool table. I admit that the light switches are confusing, but it wasn't hard to figure them out. The cabin is secluded with great privacy, yet close enough to amenities in Burnsville. We went whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking, visited Linville Caverns & Linville Falls, visited the Biltmore Estate & places of interest along the Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. The mountain views in the area are spectacular, even from the cabin. The owners are great to work with & gave excellent service, with quick responses to our inquiries. They can give you my email address if you want any more specific information about the cabin or the area. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone.

I cannot say enough about this beautiful lodge. We had our adult children, spouses and 10 grandchildren together for a week (8/8-8/14-2009) and everyone had a fantastic time! The lodge is completely equipped with anything you could possibly need or want; very homey; beautifully decorated; with enough room for a large family to be together without being under each others feet constantly. I would highly recommend this getaway for any large group and most especially a large family gathering. Thanks, Bill and Cindy Davis, for sharing your wonderful vacation home for others to enjoy!

All we can say is Wow! Wow! Wow! We stayed here in late June of 2009 with 18 Campbells, ages 70+ to 1 and everyone had a grand time. There was plenty of room for all the kids and adults to spread out, yet we always got to eat together at the large kitchen table. Some of the kids slept in bunk room downstairs and loved their little "hideaway". The playset was a big plus, as was the fire pit for when we made s'mores. There was plenty of room in the driveway for all our cars (4). I would highly recommend this to any large group or family!

Awesome group get-away

We had a group of 16 friends (a mix of couples and singles) stay here for a nice get-away weekend of playing games, hiking, etc. It was plenty spacious, and we never felt crowded. We could all hang out together, or split off into groups easily. The kitchen was fabulous - we brought groceries and cooked everyday, even grilled out one night - and everyone could eat & hang out in the kitchen at the same time. There was plenty of refrigerator room as well for stocking up on drinks. Entertainment is pretty much up to you - we barely used the TVs and DVD players (except for playing on the Wii we brought ourselves), but they are there if you need them. We mainly played cards and games all weekend, and took some small hikes out around the cabin and it's surrounding trails and roads. The outdoor hot tub was a nice perk - even when it was snowing outside, the hot tub was warm and cozy to hang out in! The description on HomeAway is accurate, except for no foosball table or wood burning stove that we could find. The property and house were overall very clean, but they could have dusted throughout a little better & cleaned a few cobwebs here and there. (We were also overrun with ladybugs, but that happens at home too :) Our only "negatives" to mention, which we overlooked because everything else was so great: water pressure in a couple of the bathrooms wasn't very good. A couple of the beds weren't very comfortable to sleep on. Light switches in the house are in odd places, and sometimes hard to find (like the lights for the hot tub, we couldn't find for a whole day.) Overall, this was a super place to stay, and a good value for the money! The owners were great to work with, and very nice & accommodating. We hope to return here again sometime!

Great for a large group

There were eight couples in our group and we had a great time at the cabin. The cabin is spacious enough that everyone had their own space and did not feel overcrowded. The HomeAway website lists a woodburning stove in the living room and a foosball table but they were not there. All other descriptions are accuate. We went skiing and tubing at Wolf Laurel and hike up the trail. The rest of the time was spent in the hot tub, playing pool, playing cards, watching movies, singing karaoke, eating and drinking. The kitchen is very spacious so we were able to have multiple cooks in the kitchen at the same time. We brought a lot utensils and cooking pots with us just in case we needed them but the kitchen was very well stocked (some of the pots and bowls are due to be replaced though). Some areas of the home had cobwebs indicating that those areas had not been cleaned in a while but overall it was very nice and I would stay here again. I communicated with the owners, Bill and Cindy, before and after we arrived and they were both very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this cabin to friends and family!

Great Log Cabin for Large Group

Guest: cynstar81 (Durham, NC)
Date of Stay: 11/14/08 Review Submitted: 11/19/08

This is a great log cabin for a big group. We were there in Nov 2008 and had a great time. The cabin itself is beautiful and roomy - I especially loved the kitchen - which is extremely well equipped. The view from the front porch is spectacular. The couches downstairs are so comfortable and the surround sound for the downstairs tv is sweet. Be prepared to learn your light switches as there are so many everywhere that it's a bit confusing but that is really a tiny little nitpick in an otherwise spectactular log cabin. The owner is organized and professional. I definitely recommend this place. My time there was unforgettable - I plan to return again.
