We are a destination spot for snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, four-wheeling, hiking, biking, and year-round vacations. This evergreen retreat is a new (2007) handcrafted log cabin, with three floors and three wrap around outside decks. There's a large mud room with in floor heat to dry out all your outdoor gear. The Cabin is located on 17 acres, with plenty of parking room. It backs up to an all purpose trail (North Freda, Trail #121-ATV/snowmobile trail.)
Were only 5 miles outside of Houghton MI, off of a blacktop road, but this is where the blacktop ends. There are only woods & rivers for eight miles until you reach Lake Superior. This setting will let you enjoy the outdoors right out of your door. There's even a friendly Golden Retriever (our dog, we live 700 ft. away thru the woods) that will gladly go on walks with you.
Call or e-mail for more details or visit our website. From there you can check out what our area has to offer. The National Weather Channel rates the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as No. 6 in its top-10 list of Winter Family Get-ways.

Welcome to "The Log Cab-Inn" - Where Great Memories Are Made
Why the Owner Chose Houghton
This was a family project building this Log Cabin, which may someday be our retirement home. It all started with the farmer living on this land 45 years ago planning 8 acres of red pine. Those high standing red pine (44 out of 800)are now laying sideways making up the walls of the Log Cab-Inn.

My husband and I stayed at the Log Cabin Inn October 2010 so we could have a "home" while attending Parent Weekend at Tech. Lovely! Comfortable, well equipped - we grilled, we baked and enjoyed time with our son. The trail is right in the back yard. Coming from WA state we were enthralled with the beautiful fall color all around. Close to town, easy drive. We caught a van/taxi at the airport and he took us out there.

My husband and I, children, and grandchildren stayed at the Log Cab-Inn in early July/2009. What a lovely, homey property! There are expansive grounds around the cabin where we enjoyed a campfire and the children expended some of their boundless energy. Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed the privacy of the downstairs family room and adjoining bedroom. The gas fireplace in the living room was a cozy place to read bedtime stories or curl up with a book. The Kangas's were excellent hosts and we heartily recommend their property.
