Hendersons R&R Stay from Afghanistan

Phenomenal stay! I have been deployed to Afghanistan for a year and out of my pick of ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD this is where our family decided to spend our R&R together! So quiet and peaceful; just the place you need to get back in touch with your family! Exactly what a doctor will order for me one day :) Loved watching the hummingbirds (9.5 month old loved watching all the birds out on the deck), incredible woodpeckers, turkeys, quail, doves (many species), looking for bugs in the woods with my 2.5 year old (wife didn’t care for that so much), ability to cook inside or outside out on the grill…just an overall welcomed break for our family. This place had everything, not just the basics to get you by; they have everything right down to nice soft sheets and towels! The owners are unbelievable people that worked with us to make sure we had the best stay possible. Great communication and customer service from their side; thank you for an experience we will never forget!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Spent 3 nights at this lovely cabin. The cabin was clean and came equipped with everything we needed. Not too far from town and certainly within a few miles of several gem mines. Franklin is a quiet, friendly town with several antique shops to visit. If your looking for a peaceful retreat, then this place is for you. We enjoyed our time in Franklin and found that 4 days and 3 nights is plenty of time to see the sights and visit the nearby attractions.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Just returned home from Thanksgiving with my family at this wonderful cabin. It was definitely one of our best Thanksgivings! This is a perfect place for a families. We roasted marshmellows by the fireplace, drank hot apple cider, play games, and watched movies. Thank you Chris and Theresa for allowing us to spend the week here. We will definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We greatly enjoyed our stay in the cabin and this part of the country! The view from the cabin is breath taking! We enjoyed tubing down Deep Creek, rafting the Nantahala, boating, cliff jumping, rope swinging and much more in these beautiful mountains. We look forward to our next trip here to North Carolina and thank you for such a great cabin!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What an incredible opportunity to stay in such a lovely home for an entire month! A view of the mountains desired by many, seen by few. We felt very spoiled to experience our trial run for our "empty nesting" soon to come...mid-August. The weather was lovely, un-seasonable cold weather 48-52 degrees on the deck for almost a week in the morning. Loved watching the hummingbirds daily, many species of birds, lots of cooking out on the grill, and total relaxation!! We both teach (Frank/college - me/kindergarten) Welcomed the break!! IMMENSLY!Surprise visit from our 2 sons for 4 days... also with our daughter, son-in-law, and 1 year old granddaughter. LOVED: Sunset Restaurant, Stamey's, Frog & Owl, Creekside Cafe, new library, Fatz, and Rabun Gap flea market. Thank you for an experience we will not soon forget!Did you find this review helpful? Thanks for the use of the cabin. We had a great time despite a few obstacles! Rained a few days but still managed to get it all in! Hiked, horseback (Chunky gal Stables were awesome), Rafting - NOC was good-the one in Dillsboro was PERFECT with little kids- mine are 5&6 - they loved it! Gem mining, waterfalls (Bridal Veil & Glen Falls - but be careful - real slippery - our dog fell down Glen Falls! Ghost Town in the Sky was fun - the chairlift up is the highlight for adults but littler kids will enjoy it - mine did! We didn't care for Fat Buddies BBQ- skimpy portions/high prices but we found the local BBQs much better - Cash's was good by the Whistle Stop Mall. Last 2 days had sick kids but overall had an awesome time! Thanks again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Thank you!! We thoroughly enjoyed our all too short stay at your lovely cabin. We discovered a couple of great nearby hiking trails and family conversation. We've promised ourselves that we need to come up here more frequently and enjoy all of the mountain seasons. Thank you again, Chris & Theresa, for sharing your cabin with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Why the Owner Chose Franklin:
We looked very hard to find a mountain get-away where we had awesome views of the Great Smoky Mountains while being close to all of the outdoor activities the mountains have to offer. Our 'Hiddenvacation' is in a beautiful community with custom log homes but also provides us with the privacy we desire.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Our family enjoys relaxing from our hectic schedule in the city. The mountains provide views and all of the outdoor activities we enjoy such as hiking the Appalachian Trail, canoeing the Little Tennesse River, white water rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, fishing for trout and bass at our local fishing spots, taking long walks around the development and we can go on and on!
