Apartment has three large rooms in the Winter Palace. The Winter Palace was an elegant hotel used in the early 20th century and has been converted to apartments. The Winter Palace stands in a 1.7 hectare, lovely enclosed garden containing a wide variety of sub-tropical plants. It faces south offering a clear view of the sea, the garden, and the town of Menton. It is only (walking) minutes away from a range of shops and restaurants and the sea. The bus station is a six minute walk and the train station ten minutes. There is parking in the garden.

This apartment is fully equipped, in particular with beautiful Italian Carrara marble on floor and walls in the kitchen, bathrooms, and entrance. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine, traditional "tomettes"ceramic tiles in other rooms, Liberty style glass window and some antique furniture. There are 3.8 meter ceilings and it is therefore cool in summer. Winter comfort is provided by radiators. All rooms have large French windows, one room has a small balcony. Two rooms have original marble fire places (non working).

Menton has a beautiful Italian old town and a wide variety of bistros, a casino, movie theatres, concerts, museums, gardens.

An open air market is held every day, including on Sunday, at a five-minute walking distance.

We really enjoyed our week in this apartment. The sunny, breezy, apartment is located within an easy walk to the train station. We walked all over the old town, down to the Promenade along the Mediterranean. We enjoyed Menton very much, shopping, history and great restaurants. The apartment is clean, well equipped and comfortable. The site's pictures do represent the reality! The apartment is built on a big hill (yes its a climb) but the view is stunningly beautiful and worth every step of the climb!

Unforgettable!

We just returned from one glorious week in this apartment. The furniture is tasteful, the kitchen well equipped, and the beds quite comfortable. The 20-foot ceilings, beautiful tiling, and arches are a delight. We could not tear ourselves away from the breakfast table in the master bedroom with the magnficent view. We lingered over breakfast in the morning and finished a bottle of the wine in the evening as the sun set. The property is quiet and well maintained. The photos do not do the apartment justice! We took day trips along the Riviera, returning in the early evening. If we missed local markets, we would stop at the Inter Marche near the A8. The apartment location is very convenient. As a previous reviewer mentioned, receiving and returning the keys requires negotiation (the owner works it out), but any minor inconvenience is well worth it. We would return in a heartbeat.

Owner response:Due to the 35 hour week required by government laws, we have had to make do with limited hours for our concierge, but still, it can always be worked out, as long as the tenant's time of departure is known in advance. If the concierge is unavailable, we have the cleaning lady who lives next door and can do the departures (meaning receive the keys and check out the flat and return the cash deposit).

I can highly recommend this apartment! It is located in a lovely Belle Epoque style former hotel, has great views, and is tastefully furnished. The location is very convenient, no car is needed, as train station, bakeries, supermarket, restaurants and beaches are all within walking distance. Menton has a lovely old town center, many restaurants, and even a sandy beach, rare at the Riviera. What is more, it is a great base to explore the surroundings-Nizza, Monaco, Cannes are all within an hours' train ride. Only drawbacks, although minor, are that parking can be tight, and that the concierge works rather limited hours, so be sure to arrange your key pickup in advance.

Where to start! My sister, my daughter and I stayed at your apartment in Menton April 2 for two weeks. It is truly beautiful! We had such a wonderful holiday, it was a relaxing vacation. We would take the train and go to Monaco, Grasse, Eze Village, lots of shopping! We would always return to eat at the wonderful restaurants in Menton. After our site seeing trips we were always ready to return to Menton it was our favorite place. One of our favorite evenings was when we returned from a train trip and went on a long walk on the promenade and then ventured on up to St Michael's and up to the old cometary on top, amazing views everywhere. My daughter and myself for the past two visits to France stayed in Cap D'Ail and Monaco, but your apartment met all of our needs and we didn't even miss the other places we have stayed in the past. The apartment was comfortable and easy to stay in, a couple days we just wanted to stay in the apartment and read. The gardens at the Winter Palace are so beautiful, everything was beginning to bloom. It was a holiday we will always remember. I have suggested your delightful apartment to our friends, and we are currently planning our next trip to Menton and a return rental at your apartment!

We thought we'd leave a note if only to say what a lovely place and a great base for exploring Menton and beyond. That said, due to the weather being so good, we rarely left Menton though we can recommend trips to Monaco and Roquebrunne Village(113 bus). But the rest of the time, we were in the shadow of the old town or on the beach, then taking our 3 yr old son to share in 2 1/2 hour lunches; then sheltering from the heat of the mid-afternoon and then enjoying a pastis in one of the squares before heading back home for supper. We never did work out how the cable TV works. Not that it bothered us too much. Thanks again, and,j'espere"a bientot"!

We just stayed at the Winter Palace apartment and were thrilled. The location was perfect. There was no need for a car, as walking to the market, all parts of town and the train station(taking you to Monaco or Nice to the West, Italy to the East, as well as a short 4 hour ride to Milano) was a matter of a few steps to a few minutes walk. The apartment was immaculate and well decorated, the kitchen perfect for real cooking . Beds comfy and a spectacular view in evry room. We would rent it again and recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful apartment in June and it was a wonderful experience. This apartment has everything needed to feel at home. The wonderful high ceilings and beautiful large windows in the 3 large rooms were fantastic. it was quite and peaceful and sitting out on the balcony looking out over the sea view was so calming. Walking around the palace gardens and sitting on the various benches was an added bonus. I have booked to stay in the Winter Palace apartment again in September with my 2 sisters who live in London and I am so looking forward to being together in Menton.
