Beaufort condo description
Beauloft is a unique property. It is one of only two loft condominium private residences on Bay Street in downtown Beaufort. The owners of Beauloft have an agreement with The Beaufort Inn to provide you the amenities of a full service bed and breakfast while enjoying all the advantages of a private home.
The Beaufort Inn is right across the parking lot. Stroll down the street to mix and mingle with other guests in the inn or courtyard or remain in the privacy of your home away from home. It is the perfect combination. If you travel with your computer there is an open wireless network at Beauloft.
Each morning the inn provides a deluxe continental breakfast with a chef attended omelet station. Complementary wine is served at the inn every afternoon for your enjoyment. Housekeeping is included and provided every third day during your stay and at check-out and is available more frequently for a small additional fee. There is a full sized washer and dryer in Beauloft.
Beaufort is a quiet town, quite different from Savannah, Charleston and Hilton Head. Named "Favorite Small Southern Town" by the readers of Southern Living Magazine, Beaufort boasts excellent restaurants, art galleries, specialty shops, jewelry stores, crafts, books, children’s clothes, toys, even a winery all within walking distance of Beauloft. It is the kind of place where your car is no longer a necessity. Leave your car in the dedicated parking spaces in the private adjacent lot. Then, step back in time to a slower pace and take a carriage ride or walking tour while enjoying your stay in a special historic property. Nightlife is available downtown if you desire, however Beauloft remains quiet and the bedrooms are secluded from the street. Upscale restaurants with creative menus, happening bars and interesting people are all an easy walk from Beauloft with no worries of driving home after an evening out.
Beauloft is in a building that was built circa 1890 as a general store. The retail space below later became a hardware store and is currently Beaufort Clothing Company. Through the years the second story space Beauloft occupies was office and warehouse space. The beautiful heart pine floors, twelve foot ceilings, original windows, transoms and heavy wood molding reflect the style of a bygone era. The full renovation with completely new bathrooms, large closets, granite counter tops and modern appliances offer all the modern comforts and conveniences. It is the ideal blend of old and new. Beauloft is professionally decorated with warm colors, comfortable furniture and a low country botanical theme. The giant windows that surround the great room and gallery hall open for you to enjoy the street scene below and let in the breeze of the long temperate season off the waters of the Beaufort River.
Beauloft is often used for special occasions. It is perfect for birthdays, reunions, weddings and graduations. Beaufort is a favored destination location for weddings. Families frequently stay in Beaufort when visiting for the Parris Island graduations. You can choose to cook in the fully equipped kitchen or have your event catered by one of the local caterers. The staff at The Beaufort Inn can guide and assist you in planning your special event.
Beauloft uniquely offers you the opportunity to cook or easily eat every meal out. Blackstone’s, where locals meet and eat, serves breakfast and lunch daily right next door. Plum’s and Panini’s are local favorites right down the street with porches overlooking the park and water. Saltus River Grill offers a trendy setting right on the park and water and serves contemporary seafood and fare at the bar or booths or tables. It is an upscale environment suitable for a casual evening out or a special occasion. Breakwater is a popular restaurant and tapas bar. Bateaux is another world class restaurant within an easy drive. Bateaux resides in the beautifully restored customs house in Port Royal. There are lots more popular eateries, too many to mention here.
Beauloft is perfect for couples or a girls/guys getaway and is also family friendly. Getaway packages are sometimes offered. There is enough room in the master closet for your portable crib and there is a trundle bed in the den/office right next to the master bedroom that is suitable for adults or children. The newly renovated Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, one short block from Beauloft along the Beaufort River, is seven landscaped acres with beautiful views, grass lawns, benches, swings, a playground, and pavilion all adjacent to the city marina. A bench swing in the park on the intra-coastal waterway awaits you or plan to enjoy your specially prepared drink on the porch of one of the many restaurants that border the park and overlook the intra-coastal waterway.
Beauloft offers the best of a small historic city life and there is lots to entertain you and your guests around Beaufort County. Water tours leave from the downtown marina, a short walk through the park, eco tours leave from docks only a short distance away by car. Hunting Island State Park beckons with its miles of trails, beach access and a century old light house to climb and explore. Museums, golf, water sports, biking, kayaking, fishing and boating are all nearby. Festivals, cultural activities and creative programming can be found within walking distance. Check the Arts Council of Beaufort County and Main Street Beaufort calendar of events for specific dates, times and locations.
Staying in historic downtown Beaufort on Bay Street is truly a unique experience. The small town charm and proximity to the Beaufort River, and access to small shops, restaurants, service businesses and events are a major attraction for downtown residents and visitors. Many visitors come to Beaufort and decide to stay, perhaps forever. We did!
