We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. I have never slept in a cottage as clean as this one! My kids even took their shoes off at the door! ( without being told). Kitchen is very spacious and all furniture comfortable. Kids enjoyed fishing off the pier, even though those bluegills are sneaky and eat the worm every time! Due the to mother nature this year, the water level was very low. Kids did not like high weeds near the raft, but love playing in the sand. I would highly recommend this cottage! We will be coming back next summer!Owner response: Thank you Jen and family for the great review on Home Away!! We are so happy when we hear these great things about families' vacations. You are correct about the water level being low this year. It makes the weeds show up but the BEACH is so much LARGER because of it. And next year the weeds should be gone as our association is being more aggressive about using a weed control to help with them. We look forward to you and your family visiting next year.

This cottage and lake was just the perfect family vacation for my husband & I and our 2 small children. My girls just loved the beach and had a great time swimming, making sand castles, catching minnows and of course fishing. It was also very relaxing for my husband and I. It brought back very fond memmoris of when I little and we used to go to cottages and did many of the same things. We hope to make this a yearly tradition. We went to a local Ice cream shop - Suger Bear a few times, very cute place to go for lunch and of course ice cream. We also went to a local Italian restaurant that was VERY good but I don't remember the name but it's down the street from the Surger Bear. Thank you Cheryl & Mark for the wonderful memories! ~ Laura B and family.Owner response: Thank you Laura! and family for a wonderful review on HomeAway! We appreciate having you and your family stay at the Eagle Lake Cottage! What a wonderful time it sounds like you and your girls had both at and away from the cottage. I believe the restuarant you were referring to is called Bistro 120 aka as The Bistro! Please do come back to enjoy some fun in the sun. And please stay at Eagle Lake Cottage!

My daughter picked this cottage out for us and she made an excellent choice! The cottage is clean with a large kitchen and three bedrooms and was sufficient for six of us. It has a beautiful long lake view of the sun rising in the morning and a good sized yard to play games and has ample parking. There is also a fire pit to roast marshmellows and keep you warm on a cold summer's nite when needed. The beach is large and sandy and there is a huge dock to park your watercraft. Fishing was great! We enjoyed floating in the water, skiing, boarding and just cruising around the 275 acre lake! There is ample water activity on the weekend, however during the week you practically have the whole lake to yourself! The owners were courteous and took care of the few needs we had. The location is ideal to I-9. Grocery stores, restaurants, golf and wineries are only minutes away. Everybody in our family enjoyed the cottage and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a great place on a beautiful lake @ a reasonable price!Owner response: Thank you John and Debbie for the great review! We appreciate having you and your family spend time at Eagle Lake Cottage! Many people have told us how much they enjoy having the lake to themself during the week of their stay and about all the fish they caught!! It is our goal to make Eagle Lake Cottage an enjoyable experience for everyone. Having someplace that is clean, spacious and lots of dock are usually at the top of everyones list when going to the lake! Summertime vacations are memorable when families can talk about all the fun they had doing the things you and your family enjoyed while on vacation at Eagle Lake Cottage! It is wonderful when you can spend time with those you love enjoying the great outdoor experiences Michigan is known for by so many visitors! We are sorry your plans to come for July could not happen this year but we look forward to when you are able to visit Eagle Lake Cottage! Warm Regards, Mark and Cheryl

We emailed the owner before renting the cottage that we have an infant and we were looking for a place that was safe for the baby and romantic for us. We rented it for 3 nights but we only stayed one. The following desribes why: From the moment we walked in, we encountered issues and lack of disclosure that really disappointed us. It began when I almost took a drink of the brown foul smelling water that pours from the sinks and bathtub. Perhaps we were naive to think we can mix baby formula with anyone's water but certainly not this water. Nor would I bathe a baby, much less ourselves in it. The owners seem to differ on the safety of this water; the male owner who was making repairs on the cottage told us there was decay in their well and "we needed to drink bottled water". His wife, who I later voiced a complaint with for not telling us in the welcome email to bring water stated the water is "potable". I am no water purity expert, but I am a physician and you should not drink (or touch or smell) this water in my opinion. Our next experience included sitting on the blue couch displayed in the pictures. The suspension is broken and if you sit on it, you will not be able to get up without help. The other "chair-couch hybrid furniture" is stiff and uncomfortable. It all surrounds a tiny TV that did not tune any channels for us. The "gas log fireplace for romantics" did not work and the owner tried for one hour in the evening to get it functional and confessed that they had not ran it in ages. We eventually decided that our now violated alone time was more important and let him leave without fixing it. To rent this place, you have to sign a ridiculous one-sided contract that lists 10 ways you violate the contract but they are not responsible for any malfunction or misrepresentation. Did I mention that they require a cashier's check so you have no recourse? Most insulting was the owner's reply to my complaint email that we should have let her know that we intended to use the fireplace ahead of time. It's my fault? Do I need to let her know I will be using the oven ahead of time? She emailed us to tell us it was cold at night and where the extra blankets and space heaters were so is it illogical to assume that the fireplace would be ready for the season?? Speaking of the oven, I recommend you subtract 200 degrees on the dial - we burned our pizzas to an unrecognizable state of coal in 6 minutes. This owner is unapologetic. Renter BewareOwner response: In the five years we have rented this property we have never come across a renter quite like this. We are sorry we were not able to fulfill his rental needs. We do not, however, respond well to threats irregardless to what the renters occupation is and therefore may have seemed unapologetic. We feel that the many renters who have stayed with us and have given us many great reports both on and off of this site more than make up for this one poor review. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and allowing us to respond! P.S. He also tried to blackmail us into giving him his money in order for him not to write his bad review...class act!

We stayed for a week in August 2010. It has been some 20+ years since I spent time in Paw Paw. We used to come every summer when I was a kid. They heard me descibe Paw Paw hundreds of times...so, I wanted to finally share that experience with my wife & kids. The town has changed some, but not all that much.Truthfully, the cottage was better than I had expected. It was very clean and well maintained. It was spacious and comfortable. And having all the appliances, pots, pans, silverware, towels & linens, gas grill and even a small A/C was just the icing on the cake. The owners were attentive, accomodating and very nice. (THANKS!)The lake was busy with skiers and boaters on the weekend, but quieter and really nice during the week. The kids loved spashing and swimming in the sandy shallows, but mostly they LOVED catching all the (small) fish right off the pier! The use of the row boat was great. I brought a trolley motor and we fished all over the lake and enjoyed just going for a boat ride from time to time. The lake is full of fish! We must have caught at least 1 of every kind of fish: Large Mouth Bass, Blue Gill, Sun Fish, Catfish, Perch and even a angry little turtle! Lures...nightcrawlers...didn't matter. I lost count of how many fish we caught. The cottage itself is 10 minutes to town and (of course) the Wineries (which me & my wife enjoyed). And one rainy Tuesday we took the kids to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo (20-30 min away - all indoors) which we ALL enjoyed. All in all it was a great week. I would highly recommend this getaway for those families looking to unplug from the grid to relax and enjoy swimming, fishing and a good bonfire. I have a feeling we may be coming back year after year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank You!! Please do come back every year!! You and your family are the perfect people and we are so very glad your family enjoyed yourselves!

This home is an asset to any vacation renter. It was clean and cool, even without air conditioning. The kitchen is very large with all the dishes, pots & pans, and utencils you could ever need. The beds & linens were very comfortable for a rental! The lake was crystal clear, and full of fish...right off the dock. My girls loved swimming because of the sandy bottom by the shore. It was very quiet during the week, and not to bad on the weekends. I would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation. The homeowners were very accommodating and my deposit check was returned within the first week of returning home. Thank you for a wonderful Paw Paw, MI vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

My family of 4 stayed at this cottage for the first time this summer. After we arrived, we knew we were in the right place! Every room was clean and appealing. The lake was nice and we enjoyed the intertubes that the owners left out for us to use. The bedrooms were big and well appointed. We will be renting it again next year and highly recommend it to others.
