Beautiful Blue Mesa Reservoir located in the Curecanti National Recreation Area, is Colorado's largest body of water. The reservoir is located in Western Colorado just west of Gunnison at an elevation of 7,519 ft. The area is filled with beautiful mesas, deep narrow canyons, and fjord like lakes. Covering 41,972 acres, the park offers fishing, boating/boat rentals, water skiing, kayaking and windsurfing.

Why the Owner Chose Gunnison

We first came to Gunnison in 1994 to visit friends and family in the area. We came back often to fish, hike, ski, and enjoy all the activities we could find. Our oldest daughter decided to go to school and graduated from Western State College and has made Gunnison her home. We have been here every month and someday hope to make Gunnison our permanent home.

The Unique Benefits of this House

Every time of year offers opportunities to explore the beauty of the Colorado Rockies. We have enjoyed snow shoeing, downhill and cross country skiing, hiking, camping, backpacking, fly fishing, biking, and exploring numerous "ghost towns" in the area. The drives through the mountain passes, the Black Canyon, and The Gunnison Gorge are another favorite pastime. We try to time our visits with the many festivals in the area. From the Wild Flower Festival to Telluride Blue Grass Festival, there are simply too many to name.

The town folk are fabulous, the atmosphere is relaxing yet active and the owners are very accommodating and kind. It is truly kept as a home away from home. Thank you.     • My family stayed in this lovely home for a week in early April. When you walk in you feel welcome with the comfortable furnishings and open floor plan. Having the master bedroom and bath on one end of the house with another two bedrooms and bath on the other side of the living area is great for a family. The house has been painted to highlight the natural light from the sky lights in the kitchen and bathrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped and the washer and dryer were an appreciated perk. In addition, there is a two car garage. In Gunnison everything is in walking or biking distance. The home is especially close to the college, a park, and a great coffee shop. The location made it an easy drive to many activities in this beautiful mountain area. We skiied in Crested Butte, climbed in Taylor Canyon, and spent a day in Ouray. This property has every amenity to make this house a "home" for your stay. Enjoy!

    • My husband and I have stayed here on 2 separate occassions. The home is very nicely appointed with all the amenties of home. We have cooked many meals there, and are able to walk every place in town because of its convienent location. And if all of this isn't enough the beds are extremely comfortable! We will definitely be back!

    • We've stayed at this house twice. It's very roomy and comfortable, and has a great location, a short walk to the market, ski area bus stop, and other downtown shops. We'll be going back again soon. The owners are very nice. We highly recommend this place!
