Our historic home is filled with everything that my daughter and I love about old town Park City. This original miner's cottage was built in 1885, so at almost 125 years old, "this old house" is one of the few original miner cottages that has survived demolition, development or demise. The original old miner who built the house was the town lamp lighter and crier.
Park City may have the best powder, the best summer weather and even Sundance, but Park City also has a rich history, and we hope that our house will be visited by those who appreciate the history as much as anything else about Park City. This miner's town was built by the miners on the steep hills of old town, close to neighbors and close to town. The original cottages were neither luxurious nor entirely practical, but they were built to enjoy the community life and the incredible views. The view from the front of our house still takes my breath away, during each new season. (Personally, I think the summer is the best time to visit, but by saying that,I am excluding the fall, and you really have to see the leaves in the fall.) Looking out through the bay window or standing on the deck, you can take in Main Street, the mountains and even the skiers at Park City Mountain resort. I often wonder what the old miner would have thought if he could stand on his steps today and see all the changes.
The house has been preserved and protected, but not overdone. I've provided the basic modern conveniences for comfort, including all comfy organic bedding. The house also has a new garage and carport - which you will be very happy to have in old town. You can enjoy the hot tub on the deck, and then walk down to Main Street to enjoy the restaurants, shopping and night life. This home is for those who truly want to experience the history and beauty of old town Park City, those who are looking for a vista that you can't find any place else in the world and a history that reminds you of a simpler, but richer time for the soul. |
