This place was fantastic! The house was the perfect setting for 10 friends and 2 dogs--I never felt crowded. The space is impressive and the furniture comfortable. The living room and fireplace inspired conversation, the kitchens more than adequately met our needs, and the pool table and gargantuan hot tub set this property apart from its competitors. Everything was warm and inviting. My guests were spoiled. The setup of having three different floors of bedrooms allowed for some privacy and although some ladies stayed up all hours of the night--I never heard them. It was nice to find a large fan to act as white noise in the main floor closet. The entire experience was wonderful and I will definitely go back! Further, the owners went above and beyond during our stay. Apparently, the last group left the cable tv disabled, the fireplace not working and all but two of the pool cue sticks broken.... As soon as the owners learned about these conditions they immediately had crews in to fix things and personally visited us to guarantee our satisfaction. I was very impressed. A few notes of advice for anyone heading up there: there is no cell phone reception at the house (which I was unaware of mostly because I overlooked that note on the site description--but I definitely appreciated being apart from the norm). Also, there is no wifi "in" the house. It is at the clubhouse which is accessible only during certain hours. These aren't criticisms. I just didn't understand these things prior to arrival due to skimming over explanations. It would have been helpful to know the phone number (land line) so family could reach us in case of emergency and friends could call in from the front gate upon arrival. In summary, the house is in a peaceful, clean and orderly neighborhood and convenient to Mt. Baker Ski Resort. We learned you could get a full rental package (snowboard or skiing), a 1.5 hour lesson, and an easy-hill lift ticket for $49! Even the ride up to the mountain is along a beautiful scenic highway. The fireplace, although gas, was really warm, which was unexpected and cozy. It was fun to hike along the mossy trails near the home along the river. Parking was plentiful and easy. I have zero complaints and can't wait until next year!Owner response: Emily, We very much appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed review. Thank you! We definitely don't have Wifi and your review has made me realize that it would help to make sure future renters are aware of this aside from it being listed on Homeaway, VRBO, etc. Thank you also for being so understanding with the repairs that needed to be made with rehooking up the cable and fixing the fireplace after the last guets. My husband and I were glad we were able to address them quickly. We hope to have you as guests again! -Greg & Rebekah Blankers

I hesitate to be too positive as we would like to keep this gem to ourselves! We also had the best weather ever for a Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend: blue skies, warm and sunny ... and dry! The chalet is clean, well equipped and decorated in a warm mountain chalet style. It's location within the Skyline development is ideal. We ate at Chair 9 for the first time - very good and great atmosphere, Milano's for the umpteenth time - excellent as usual, and Wake n Bakery - great coffee and outdoor area. My husband even got his hair cut at the Hairstream Airstream and was very happy. Fortunately we had younger people with us who helped figure out the sound and entertainment system, which we then enjoyed. My only 'complaint' was that the oven in the main kitchen didn't work, for me, so I used the one in the basement. We were cooking Thanksgiving turkey dinner so it was nice to have a backup. We will return!Owner response: Brenda- I'm so glad you enjoyed our chalet and decided to return again. I'm sorry the oven didn't work for you. This is the first I've heard of it not working so thank-you for bringing it to my attention. I do hope you will come again. Thanks so much for taking the time to let other travelers know what we have to offer. Rebekah

This was the perfect house for a group all wanting to do different things...snowboarding, snowshoeing, lounging, hot tubbing, whatever it may have been, every one was happy. We were all very happy at the end of the day when we had a big open living area to lounge, play games, watch movies and just have fun.We all had a great time, and hope to make this an annual trip! Thanks to the owners for being so available for any and all questions...as well as creating the perfect vacation home, especially for someone who has never been in it before.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We were delighted with our stay at the Mt. Baker Chalet. The layout is perfect for a large group. It is spacious, yet very connected allowing ample opportunity for all of us to be together. The house is very well maintained and stocked with supplies. Close to Mt. Baker and many hiking trails, this is the ideal location for all seasons. We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful, relaxing girls getaway weekend at the chalet. It was such a nice house, very tastefully appointed and comfortable. We really appreciated the attention to detail that is often over-looked in rental houses - things like labelling the light switches, having sharp knives in the knife block, tons and tons of cooking implements to choose from, and nice bedding and towels. Everything was super organized. The view from the living room and hot tub is spectacular, a must-see. The kitchen is fairly big so that you can have two or three people cooking comfortably. The second kitchen in the basement wasn't used by our group, but I can see it being a real plus for a big ski group for drinks and snacks. The sound system buit into the wall (and even wired out to the hot-tub!) was so great, we were completely impressed by that. Overall, this is one of the best houses I've ever rented. My only wish would have been for a decent wine glass (we are horrible wine snobs...), but we happily made due with the plastic hot tub glasses and tumblers Italian-style!Owner response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you so much for the thoughtful detailed review-we appreciate you taking the time to help other travelers know what we have to offer. I'll work on the wine glasses-it just seems that every time we buy new "glass" ones, they're broken within a month. It's just not the same drinking wine out of the plastic ones though. Thanks again Kate! -Rebekah

I just want to let you know that we had an amazing time at the Baker cabin last weekend. The place was perfect in every way. It was great to stay at a place that perfectly combines modern touches with a warm and cozy feel. We had the opportunity to get up to the mountain and play in the snow with the kids on Saturday and followed that with some steaks, wine and a soak in the hot tub that night. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars! Hope we get an opportunity to visit again soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful, very relaxing time! The place is so clean, warm, cozy, and private, with tons of space for 6 people. The main floor and downstairs offer plenty of room for hanging out as a group; yet, there are also some cozy nooks for some quiet time. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and games room, and the hiking that was close by. The kitchen was very well-stocked, and perfect for cooking up Thanksgiving dinner with friends. The i-Pod stereo system, including speakers upstairs & down, as well as outdoor speakers for the hot tub area is a fantastic idea. What a friendly community too! We met and chatted with some of the neighbours while we were out with our dog. My husband and I will definitely be back at some point over the next year when our family comes to visit from out-of-town. A perfect getaway for any time of year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

I wanted to put my own review on about the Chalet. We (girls trip) spent 3 nights and 4 days at the Chalet. I organize all the girls trips and this home was no different from the rest when it comes to issues. When you enter someone's home it is new to you, just like getting a new car you have to find out where all the gadgets are and how they work. Once we figured that out the rest was a peace of cake! Yes there was several remotes but they were clearly labeled. The Ipod was not functioning at the time but this was discussed with the Owner as was the Microwave and she apoligized for the inconvience of both not working. So we had to get in some exercise and trott the stairs big deal! All the jets didn't work at first but we figured it out. The fireplace was lighted and gave plenty of heat. The Flat Sceen TV and surrond sound was awesome. We watched movies and did workout videos. Lots of trails to burn calories, small town store to pick the last minute items and for us Seattle Girls Latte's! This was a wonderful home and the owners we available at all times. There was once I had to leave a message and my call was returned promptly. I do agree that the devleopment manager was very rude almost scary but he also made it clear he was not responsible for the rental property which we did not know. The Owner (Rebekah) and I through email discussed the small stuff that she was not aware of and she was very thankful for the update. Two other girls out of our Girls trip are looking forward to bringing their families to the Chalet at Mt Baker. Over the past 15 years I have stayed at homes every year sometime twice a year and The Chalet did rank right up there with places I have stayed at in Las Vegas and trust me we have very specific tastes. I would reccomend The Chalet to anyone. The next time we go it will be even better because now we know the home. Once again thank you Rebekah for opening your home to us. 12 of us and a dog stayed here in early fall for a surprise 40th birthday party. Great space and surroundings - beautiful trails literally steps away from the house. The two kitchens were nice for putting together meals for a big group like us. The ipod docking station with speakers outside was another winner. Then there's the wraparound porch with awesome views of the mountain. Would have been nice to have basic condiments and things like sandwich bags and tin foil (we had to buy/bring everything). Oh, and be careful of directions - we had wrong instructions! But Rebakah is super nice and accommodating, so I'm sure that's fixed. Clean, well-kept place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners.

We just stayed there at the end on May 2009. The place is beautiful. The setting is Great, and the hot tub outside was a hit! Our kids really enjoyed it. We had three couplea all with toddlers share the place and it was perfect. The owners were very accomodating and friendly. We will definitely be going back there oin the future. The only drawback was the pool was freezing, but hey, it's may in the Northwest!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Our stay was fabulous!!! What a beautiful property you have! We loved everything about it. It was warm, comfortable, clean, tasteful, and absolutely luxurious! In fact, we are hoping to make it an annual trip with this group of friends (and maybe start the same tradition with other friends too). We even talked about how it would be nice to book the Baker and the Shuskan together as our families grow and we start to have kids. Needless to say, we had a great time!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3
