Why the Owner Chose Boulder
Originally it wasn't going to be a rental. We had the house totally reburbished so we could move into it when we retired. Boulder is ideal for us not only because we're outdoor enthusiasts but both of our children and grandchildren live in Boulder and we look forward to livng near them. Unfortunately, we won't be retiring any time soon.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The house is 5 to 10 minutes away from Pearl Street depending on traffic and yet it is on open space with spectacular views of the valley and mountains. There is easy access to Boulder city life with the peace, quiet and beauty of the Colorado mountains. A hiking trail right behind the house provides access to a ridge overlooking the city. A nearby park, a five minute walk away, is great for kids. Coffee shops and restaurants are also a walking distance away.
Owner's Map of Boulder
My husband and I live in South Carolina but we're originally from the New York area. We love the great weather and friendly people of the South but we yearn for the Colorado Rockies where our children live. We had hoped to retire there but the economy changed our plans. My husband recently announced that he'll probably have to work until he's carted off.

This beautiful house at the base of the mountains in Boulder was everything we had hoped for and more! The decor of the house is very welcoming, we felt right at home the minute we walked through the front door. We all (ages 25 to 77) enjoyed this homes comfort, cleanliness, closeness to Pearl Street and hiking trails, and awesome views of the mountains. There was plenty of privacy for all of us too! The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of towels and bedding. We even received a call the day after we arrived to make sure that everything was to our liking. We hope to rent this home again if our vacation plans take us to Boulder! Thank you Leigh for sharing your beautiful home! -Donna

My family recently had the pleasure of vacationing in this lovely home for 11 days. It was so relaxing that none of us wanted to leave! The layout of the house was perfect and the location was very convenient to downtown Boulder, University of Colorado and access to major highways. The house was very clean and well stocked. There wasn't anything we needed that the owners hadn't supplied. We found the beds to be very comfortable and we enjoyed the open, bright feel of this home. We spent early morning hours having coffee and reading on the deck with a wonderful view of the open space. Several mornings we had the pleasure of watching deer venture into the yard. It was very peaceful. We rented bikes and rode on the trails behind the house where my husband also went for morning runs. The owner, Leigh, was very prompt with her response to any inquiries I made. We are looking forward to future vacations in this home! This was our first VRBO rental and we couldn't have been more satisfied. We would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative.

My family and I recently completed a two week stay here, and overall our experience in the house was good, but it was not without problems. On the upside, the location was great, the house layout was such that everyone (6 adults part of the time) had privacy, and good hiking was just out the door. The views from the windows and deck are breathtaking. The eat-in kitchen is very functional and very well equiped, and the large dining room table seats 8. Only about 45 minutes to Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park. Also, conveniently located to restaurants and stores in Boulder (largest REI I've ever seen). Now for the low points. The cleaning crew had not done a great job before we arrived, so I would talk to the owner prior to renting about this issue. Many of the windows and glass doors have no shades so the afternoon sun poured in and heated up the interior of the house (granted, it was very hot while there). Also, without shades, privacy was limited on the main floor. But, the major issue my wife and I faced was the softness of the mattress and pillows in the master bedroom. We both have arthritis issues, and without a firmer mattress, which I grant you is a personal choice, we both awoke with some back pain most mornings, especially after long days of hiking. Our adult children, in one of the other two bedrooms, had the same problems in terms of a soft mattress. We expected firmer bedding, although again we realize that this is a personal choice when selecting bedding for the house. Again though, overall everyone in our group had a good time here, and the problems mentioned were not so bad that they ruined the trip. However, if we were to return to Boulder, we would not return here unless we knew that the bedding had been changed.
Owner response:I was sorry to hear Stewart had problems with the cleaning. When I called to check to see that all was well when he arrived, he never mentioned the house not being as clean as it should have been. If he had, I would have sent the cleaning crew back immediately to rectify the problem. Unfortunately, I've not been able to find perfect cleaners but the crew I have now do a very good job although they missed a broken glass in the dishwasher and a dirty dish in the cabinet. There are picture windows with shades on the main floor but there aren't shades on the glass doors. However, the doors face the open space and no one can see in, so I was surprised to read the complaint of lack of privacy. Glass windows are quite common in Boulder to appreciate the views. The beds are two years old and I bought them for our comfort. I think they're quite firm but not hard. I spend two months of the year in my house in Boulder. I decorated it, not just for my comfort but for my renters as well. Feedback is very important to me and I know I can't please everyone, but my goal is to please enough people so they'll want to return.

Wonderful, clean property, great stocked kitchen and nice linens. This house is as nice as the photos show. Great location - hiking right out the door, grocery stores nearby and close to Pearl Street by car or public transit for shopping and dining. We had 8 adults enjoy this home. Our first trip to Boulder but will definitely come back. This was our first time to use a VRBO so we were a little nervous but we made a great choice and urge others to rent this house and you will not be disappointed.
Owner response: Making my renters happy makes sense because they'll want to return again and again. I try to stay in my house at least four weeks a year. I look forward to sitting on my couch with a cup of tea and watch the sun rise over the mountain right after I wake up. Boulder is busy and fun but when I return home, the peace and tranquility of my house just 10 minutes from downtown, is like a warm blanket.

This home is everything we wanted in our "home away from home" in our first trip to Boulder and more! The lovely home is located at the base of the Boulder hills, where you can watch herds of deer grazing in the morning and afternoons from the side deck, yet you can be at Pearl Street in downtown Boulder for shopping or dining in just a few minutes. The home is beautifully furnished and very clean. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer than one week! We will definitely return on any future trip to Boulder!

Each year my husband and I vacation with our son, our daughter-in-law, and our two granddaughters. This year we had the pleasure of renting this beautiful house in Boulder. An important part of our vacations is preparing and enjoying dinner together. We found the kitchen to be well stocked with good quality equipment. The table easily sits 10-12 people (and there are 12 matching chairs). There is matching tableware for at least 12. The layout of the house gave each of our families privacy. We hiked on the trail each morning of our stay and enjoyed the media room in the evening. Leigh is eager to make your stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this property.

We were looking for a place to stay in Boulder for our son's wedding and this home was just what we were looking for. It was just as pictured on the website, and roomy enough to accommodate ourselves and sister and her family. The two levels gave each family their privacy, and the 3 baths were a luxury!!! The owner's daughter called on our arrival day to make sure all was well, and to let us know she was available if we had questions or concerns. The home was clean and well stocked with linens and paper products. We were able to entertain our out of town guests, in our own "home away from home" and enjoyed the deck and the grill. The view from the deck of the open space was fabulous, and our family took advantage of the trails for hiking and jogging. We would definitely return and recommend to all.
Owner response:Thanks so much for your positive reviews. We try very hard to make certain everyone enjoys their stay.

We had an absolutely lovely stay in Boulder and much of it had to due with how great this house is. We felt totally at home and relaxed from the first moment. We hiked the mountain behind the house, jogged on the trails there, visited a prairie dog "nursery" on the trail, saw two deer by the pond. We also had more than ample space to "escape" each other in the various living spaces of the house. The deck overlooks a gorgeous view as do all of the windows. Just spectactular.

Leigh, What a wonderful house with a fantastic view. We really enjoyed Boulder and our first ski trip. Your house was a great place to relax, enjoy the view, or take advantage of the numerous hiking trails. Next time we visit Boulder, we would love to stay at your house again. Thank you, Brian & Michalyn Fletcher

I had the pleasure of staying at this property for 10 nights. The only thing I would like to change is making my stay longer. The property is nestled on a quite cul de sac right next to the foot hills. The house is easy to access from anywhere in Boulder and just a quick drive to metro denver or the mountians. When I arrived there were deer grazing in the back yard. The house recently been totally updated. I just sat by the fireplace and looked out at the mountains for most the stay. The owners have family in Boulder that are eager to help with anything you may need. I hope to stay there again soon!
