Why fight for parking and be squished downtown, when you can have fabulous folk art, Morrocan textiles, Santa Fe charming architecture with exposed vigas, exquisite lighting, arched entryways, mountain sunset views.
Why stay in a small hotel room when you can have this gorgeous home all to yourselves! We are not a big management company, and this is our only listing. Live on the north side of Santa Fe near the Opera, and have that dream time in New Mexico completely furnished! Enjoy 3,200 square feet of perfect charm while you gaze out on the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo mountains surrounding your own private home. Located just off the 599 bypass on the La Tierra/Las Campanas exit. Not within walking distance to the plaza, but terrific hiking and no maddening traffic! It really is only about ten minutes by car to the center of Santa Fe.
Fine features include exposed vigas with high ceilings, smooth rounded walls with arches and accents from around the world, tiled floors with radiant floor heat, kiva fireplaces, Jacuzzi tub, walk-in, sit-down tiled shower, laundry facilities, stunning views, leather furniture, textiles and antiques, 3-stall garage, and privacy on 3 acres, all only minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza.
Custom built by Tom and Dorothy Deaton, with interior design and furnishings by Jeffrey Fenton, this sweet showcase of fine taste has old world charm and simple elegance as a reserved destination in the coming year. Pack a bag, for a week, a month, or an extended stay!
You'll be thanking your lucky stars, and you can almost reach out and touch them from your own portal. You’ll have this large fully equipped kitchen, LR, DR, 2 kiva fireplaces, king-size master bedroom w/ jacuzzi, queen room, 2 twins, and an office with an oldstyle writing table and two twins that can be put together to make a full bed.
Please note: This home gives you an opportunity to enjoy your surroundings at home as much as you'll enjoy the culture and history of Santa Fe and it's old world charm downtown. Since the drive to town is about ten minutes on the 599 bypass, you'll be able to experience what it really feels like to live in a Santa Fe community area in a newer development.
There are advantages to luxuriating in our beautiful home AWAY from the plaza, but still close enough to get downtown in only ten minutes. The quiet area, no parking issues, and outdoor patios with terrific views make it exceptional.

This home was exactly what we were looking for for our stay in Santa Fe for Spring Break. We had two families stay here for a total of 7 people and it was perfect. The home was in excellent condition, clean, decorated so pretty and all amenities that were listed were exactly there in the home. Very close drive to the Plaza and to the Interstate leading to the Ski Lodge. The family that maintains the home were very helpful in explaining everything that we needed to enjoy our stay and were very nice to talk with. We would highly recommend this to anyone wishing to stay in a home environment instead of a hotel.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We love having guests like your family, who appreciate everything about the house and leave it in excellent condition. Please come back!

House was just as in the photos. It was very clean and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. Beds comfortable. The views were wonderful from the kitchen and dining room. The house is generally very comfortable and the heated floors made it very warn and cozy even on quite cold December nights. The neighborhood is quiet and is close to nice hiking trails but still just a short drive to Santa Fe. Check in and check out were easy as was communication with the property manager. It s a great house for a family, or even two couples with children who are happy with twin beds. I recommend this property,Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for bringing your family to Santa Fe, and I'm so glad you enjoyed Casa del Oso. I really enjoyed having you here, and would love to have you return for your college reunion!

The property exceeded our expectations. We took day trips every day, then came back to "Oso" for our group dinner each night. It was a warm, welcoming, beautiful home for 5 nights, It easily accomodated all 6 of us. Jesse was great to work with-and left the lights on for our later arrival. The property was clean, well stocked and maintained. Several in our group had never been to New Mexico and thought it would be dusty and barren. They were quite surprised and were believers when they left about the Land of Enchantment. We highly recomment this wonderful home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: I'm so honored to work with groups who appreciate the finer things about Casa del Oso, and hope you will have many happy returns!

This is a wonderful welll decoorated an equipped house in a lovely setting which a group of college mature friends enjoyed for a reunion. Unfortunately, the proprerty manager was quite challenging to deal with accusing us of damage and other ridiculous activities that simply did not occur. She therefore refused to refund the damage deposit or provide proof of the cost of the alleged damage. The owners might want to find a new manager.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: These guests broke terms of agreement in several ways, and provided email documentation of using the house to host classes, bringing in additional guests, damaging the gourmet kitchen island and agreeing the damage occurred during their commercial use of the house. This is the first time in five years of five star guest comments that the owner elected to recoup damages. Read all my reviews prior, and see for yourself that this group was not honest about how they intended to use the house, and they didn't like being held accountable for damage that occurred during their misuse of the house. I have a 5-star history, and I look forward to every family who books here becoming trusted friends.

What a great place - fantastic and well-equpped house, incredible views and sunsets, short ride into town, and on great roads with rolling hills for bike riding. It surpassed our expectations! Jess is very accommodating and helpful - down to making sure lights were turned on for our late arrival. Don't miss out on making your visit complete by staying here. I will definitely recommend to my friends and will be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We spent four days at this beautiful property while exploring Santa Fe and Taos. It was better than coming home. There were four of us (2 couples) so we each had our on space at different ends of the house. This was a beautiful and relaxing place to unwind after visiting the sights. Getting into Santa Fe was quick and easy. The furnishings were beautiful with everything that we needed to cook and relax. It includes some beautiful local artifacts. Enjoy this spot!!! You won't regret it!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Paul, it was a pleasure working with you, and your care for the house and pleasant manner are some of the reasons I love my job! Many happy returns!

We have stayed in many house rentals thru VRBO/ HomeAway (including 3 others in Santa Fe), and this has been one of our very favorites! The house was clean, amenities were great and Jesse made getting in and out of there easy. While the description was accurate, the pictures didn't do it justice! I would highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be returning next year!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info

About the owner: This home has all the Santa Fe charm in the world. We had our designer furnish the house with many of our treasures brought back from other cultures, with many beautiful textiles from Morrocco. We love having a desert vacation home to return to for wide open spaces and sunshine most of the year. My assistant, Jesse, does all the booking arrangements at your convenience. We have forged many good friendships with guests of Casa del Oso, many of whom return throughout the year. We love this home, and the neighborhood couldn't be better.
Why the Owner Chose La Tierra:
Santa Fe culture is rich with diversity, and the history and people are fascinating.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Vacationing at Casa del Oso is like owning your own home for relaxation and enjoyment any time of the year. Sunset views are fantastic over the Jemez mountains, and the Sangre de Cristo mountains are visible from the east courtyard. We have a jacuzzi tub, barbecue grill on the patio, and 3,200 square feet of luxury pueblo-style architecture to enjoy. Our furnishings are comfortable and elegant, with Santa Fe style.
