This cozy cottage is the perfect Michigan get-away for all 4 seasons! Constructed in 2006, it features birch ceilings, ash hardwood flooring, living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and a full kitchen and even a laundry room. Stocked with everything you’ll need to enjoy your stay, just bring the groceries!
They say “location is everything” and you won’t find a better location to enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer.
If you are interested in star-gazing, the cottage is located just 3 minutes from the Headlands - recently designated as a "DARK SKY PRESERVE" - one of only 10 locations in the USA! This is given to a few special areas that are free of artificial light. The night sky is breathtakingly beautiful!
In the winter, you can be on the slopes of Nubs Knob or Boyne Mountain in less than 30 minutes. With a 4-night rental in the winter, we'll give you 2 free ski passes to Nubs Knob. If you prefer snow-shoeing or x-country skiing, the area offers the Headlands, Wilderness State Park or Mill Creek - all minutes away. The beautiful Mackinaw to Midland snowmobile/bike trail is easily accessed from the driveway of the cottage. Interested in a little more adventure? Try a dog-sled ride through the wilderness from a local musher! Also a great base-camp for hunters.
In the spring, birdwatchers gather from all over the country to catch a glimpse of the incredible hawk migration. You can view it from the spacious yard!
In the summer, you can be soaking up the sun on one of Lake Michigan’s most beautiful sandy beaches in 3 minutes. Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Historic Fort Michilimackinac and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse are all within walking distance – as is Shepler’s Ferry dock – the ultimate transportation to Mackinaw Island. The cottage also comes with 3 kayaks and a pair of mountain bikes for your enjoyment.
In the fall, take the color tour through the “tunnel of trees” or enjoy spectacular scenery in the Upper Peninsula, an easy drive across the mighty Mackinaw Bridge. There’s nothing quite like the sound of bugling elks during mating season at Pigeon River or the mysterious call of the loon on a quiet lake. It’s all here! Hunt, fish, hike, canoe, bike – you can do it all or you can just relax by the cozy fireplace with a good book.
NEW for 2012, we will be able to offer cottage accommodations to sleep up to 30 people. This is the perfect location for wedding parties, family reunions or other small gatherings. If you're planning a Mackinac Island wedding and need accommodations for your guests, we have the perfect solution. Cottages are under construction and will be available by May, 2012. Enjoy charming cottages, all with fully equipped kitchens (some even include a washer/dryer), screened porches, picnic area and firepits for evening campfires with friends and family - all a stones throw from the Mackinac Island ferries. Call us for more information.
We're offering a variety of Ecotour packages in the summer and fall. Interested in kayaking the Straits of Mackinac or the Les Cheneaux Islands? How about a guided bike tour or a birding excursion? We can hook you up with an experienced guide (all equipment included) for an unforgettable adventure.
If we don't have openings, we'll help you find a cottage in the area!

Cozy Cottage in Mackinaw City - Reserve Your Summer Vacation!
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Mackinaw City
Our son and his wife were married on Mackinac Island a few years ago and that was when we decided to purchase this great cottage. We wanted to provide a special place for our children to bring their children in the years to come and we found the perfect spot.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
We can walk to the beaches, Mackinac Island ferries, the lighthouse, the fort or any number of great resturants or shops. We can drive to Sault Ste Marie, Whitefish Point, Tahquamenon Falls, St. Ignace, the Les Cheneaux Islands, Drummond Island or Petoskey in about an hour. We love the outdoors and the possibilities are endless here. Swim, fish, kayak, canoe, sail, hike, bike, scuba dive, hunt, birdwatch - you name it! It's all available there.
The cottage is located in Mackinaw City, just west of the Mackinaw Bridge
For a wonderful trip back in time! You can walk to the ferry docks from the cottage and in 15 minutes you're on the Island. You can tour on foot, bike or carriage but no motorized vehicles on the is
Great shopping, shows and plenty of trendy places to eat. Well worth the 60 minute drive.
Gateway to the Upper Penninsula. There's a great casino, nice shopping and some great places to eat!!!
Wonderful hiking, wildlife watching, scenic shores. Site of Edmond Fitzgerald Memorial. Great birdwatching here!
Just 10 minutes from the cottage. Bear, deer, eagles, beavers, loons, bobcats....there are reports that cougars have even been found in the area in the past few years. Great hiking, kayaking, biking
Owner's Map of Mackinaw City
When Chuck and I met, one of the many things we had in common was that we grew up vacationing in Northern Michigan. As a result of those wonderful summers, we came to love the outdoors. It was such a part of us that we knew some day we'd have our own cottage there.

We had 4 adults and a 1 year old. Baby stayed in room with parents. Cottage was roomy enough for all. Not baby proofed, but most aren't. We had to keep baby away from front glass of fire place. No maater, we all enjoyed the cottage even though adults were not used to sleeping on twin beds. We were there for 2 nights. We stayed up late just to spend time enjoying the cottage. The fully equiped kitchen and little extras were appreciated. The books about Michigan and the Michigan decor were a nice touch. I am from FL, so it was really interesting. Everyone else is from MI, but enjoyed everthing just as much. We paid $15 for 3 days of internet, which was fine with us. We did not use the TV.

My daughters (ages 13 and 10) just returned from our vacation at this wonderful cottage! We honestly hated to pack up and leave when the time came and both girls had to have one more snuggle in the "Grandpa Chair". It is the chair in the 1st photo titled dining area. It was the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in!! My daughters and I would draw straws at the end of each day to see who was going to snuggle in it first:-))) The owners were so very helpful and we were so appreciative of all of the extras that were included in this rental! We honestly only needed to bring groceries as everything else was there for us to make this feel comfortable. The bikes were fantastic for us to use to go into town or to see the horse farm near the Headlands:-) We roasted marshmellows nightly and enjoyed our final smores of the summer each night. We loved the wonderful clean and fresh smell of the cottage when we arrived after swimming in Lake Michigan or watching a sunset at McGulpins Point. We all loved the relaxing music library and listened to the Cd's while reading every night before bed. Both of my girls said they slepy perfectly while at the cottage:-) When we arrived home they immediatley looked at the calendar to see when we could go back up for a mini vacation. I would highly recommend this cottage for anyone!
Owner response:Thanks for your kind words! We enjoy sharing it and glad you found what you were looking for. Come back anytime! Diane and Chuck

It had everything we needed. Our children are 6 and 3 and it can be difficult to stay in the small room of a hotel for very long. They were able to play in the yard and burn off a lot of energy. I am so glad you left directions to Wilderness Beach, we enjoyed it so much our first day that we went back for several hours. This was the first time our family has visited Mackinaw and we had so much fun. I am sure we will return in the future and when we do I would love to stay in your cottage again.

This was one of the rare cases where the beautiful pictures online were actually inadequate in describing how wonderful this place is. Everything I could have wanted was thoughtfully included as part of renting this awesome cottage, even a washer and dryer (which we used). Just a very short drive or 10 minute walk into the heart of downtown Mackinaw City, yet far enough away to avoid the noise of traffic and tourists.

This cottage is well-located off the road in a quiet residential area. We enjoyed close and easy access to the sites of Mackinaw City and surrounding area. Owners recommended some wonderful restaurants, but we also enjoyed fixing our own meals using the well equipped kitchen. Furniture and beds were comfortable. We relaxed at the cottage while listening to the CD collection on the player. A perfect spot if you want the peace and quiet of your own space coupled with proximity to local sites and attractions.

This is a wonderful cottage. We had a fantastic time in Mackinaw City. The cottage is in a great location and is SO COZY. There is a magnificent lazy-boy type rocking/reclining chair, right next to the fireplace...perfect for reading after a day outside seeing the sites. The place is so comfortable including the beds. We made dinner - it has a fully equipped kitchen. Great drinking water from the pur filter. Saw lots of different types of birds in the surrounding trees including a yellow-bellied sapsucker! Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful stay at this home. Very cozy, well equipped and many conveniences to make you feel right at home. I loved the local flavor of the art. A wonderful launching point for excursions to the UP or the Mackinaw area all in a convenient location to grocery stores, restaurants and main roads.
