We had a wonderful stay at Marshmelon during our Spring Break week. At first, we thought we would miss staying directly on the beach; however, the views of the marsh were excellent. We even saw an alligator! The bikes and the golf cart were definitely a plus. They made it very convenient to travel the short distance to the beach. One highlight of our trip was our Foosball tournament! The gameroom was great! The house was supplied with everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We can't wait to return!

We had a wonderful visit to Marshmelon the first week of August 2011. The home is very well stocked, and has everything you could need. We've rented many vacation homes, and this one has the most household items. Trash bags, laundry detergent, charcoal, etc., were all a welcome surprise, normally there is nothing provided when we rent homes. We loved the area, it was amazing. The kids adored riding on the golf cart, crabbing, and playing in the game room. We have a 2 year old, and the house was easy to baby proof, we brought one gate, and the rest was a breeze, we all were able to relax. The beach at Harbor Island was beautiful during low tide, but be careful as during high tide there isn't a beach. We were thrilled to find that the homeowners provided a pass to Hunting Island, we decided it was easier to go to the beach there, and enjoy the Harbor Island beaches at night. We saw many sea turtle nests, but missed the hatching, maybe next year! We loved shell hunting on Harbor Island, and were fortunate enough to see a pod of dolphins. We saw alligators (from a distance) on Harbor Island, which was really exciting. We spent one afternoon in Beaufort, and did a day trip to the outlets in Hilton Head. The weather was perfect for our entire visit. Our only complaint/recommendation has nothing to do with Marshmelon, we just recommend that you bring bug spray. The mosquitoes were relentless on both Harbor Island and Hunting Island. We were told that it rained the week before our visit, so maybe that contributed to the mosquitoes, but we found out very quickly the first night after our golf cart ride that you cannot leave the house without protection.

Our family had a fun vacation at Marshmelon over the 4th. The house was very adequate for our needs (6 adults and 6 children ages 4-12). The website photos definitely reflected the appearance of the house. The kitchen was stocked with every pot, pan and gadget anyone could possibly need. The flat screen T.V.'s, iPod docking station, and wireless internet were much appreciated. The golf cart was great for getting back and forth to the beach and the park pass to Hunting Island was a fun perk. We enjoyed a 'Save the Turtles' pancake breakfast at the clubhouse one morning by the very nice pool. The golf cart parade on the 4th was a hoot and we loved the military flyover on the beach that afternoon. Spending the late afternoon and evening at Parris Island for the Marine Band and amazing fireworks was a great way to cap off the day. The house is about 20 minutes from Beaufort, which we found to be a great town. Took a horse-drawn carriage on a historical tour which was really interesting and informative. If our family wants a southern beach vacation in the future, we would definitely go back to Marshmelon.

Our family just spent our 4th vacation on Harbor Island (3rd time @ Marshmelon). I could not list all the reasons we've come to love being here--watching the brilliant sunsets from the top deck, the uncrowded and natural beach , the golf cart excursions, just to name a few! The guys had a great time shrimping, crabbing, etc. Mrs.Nugent has been very kind and accommodating to us , even on short notice!! This house has everything a family needs to have a great vacation away from home. Only thing missing is a "built in" chef.:) Unless our family out grows your house, we'll probably be back!

Hello Diane, I just wanted to thank you for everything you did to make our getaway as fantastic as possible. My in-laws loved marshmelon so much that they are thinking of going back before Oct.. We received the deposit and we thank you again for all the thought you put into Marshmelon. There wasn't any detail overlooked in that house as far as amenities and needs. We will definitely be contacting you when we finalize our dates for a return trip to Harbor Island. Sincerely, The Alvarez's and The Ashmore's

The Nugents made our stay at the Marshmelon memorable for our group of 8! With everything provided, we were able to enjoy our week to the fullest. The bird watching from the back porch was great, the golf cart made gator watching convenient & the bikes were enjoyed by everyone! The pool, tennis court & basketball court were just a short ride on the gold cart or bike. Knowing we were in a gated community made us feel much more secure. Thank you for the awesome week!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marshmelon. The sunsets from the top balcony were epic. The beach "stuff" in the storage room was a nice surprise as we did not bring all the beach gear this time. What a wonderful home at the beach. Tks, Nugents :-)

Enjoyed our stay at marshmelon. Was a great family vacation. Beach was uncrowded and very wide. Really enjoyed the golf cart. Very quite and a lot of wildlife. Also, saw at least 50 dolfins every day from the beach. Pretty cool

We certainly enjoyed our stay at Marshmelon. The house was nicely decorated, comfortable, and fully equipped. The upper deck was great for stargazing and the evening show of all the birds returning to their roosts is not to be missed.

Traveling with three daughters ranging from pre-teen to pre-adult isn't always easy. My favorite part of the day - Early morning coffee on the porch enjoying the tranquility as I prepped for the day's activities. My second favorite - Moonlit drives in the golf cart and walks on the beach. As for the girls, their days were filled with beach, pool, and occasional games of tennis and basketball. One might have assumed that they would have migrated to the TVs at night (old habits die hard), but no, foosball in the game room became the indoor recreation of choice. From sunrise to sunset, a good time was had by all. Thank you. Karen

My cousins and I were lucky to be the first guests at Marshmelon. My extended family had gathered to celebrate our grandmother's 90th birthday with the aunts and uncles in one house and us cousins in another. Seven of us slept in Marshmelon, but the house could have easily accommodated more. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could ask for, which made hosting Sunday brunch a breeze. The bedrooms are all cheery and there's even a game room on the bottom level that has a foosball table! I would recommend this house for anyone, and plan to give the Nugents a call for our next family reunion.
