Our family stayed for three weeks during the month of July to escape the summer heat of South Florida. Let me just say that this place is a slice of paradise! Not only did we find the temperatures lovely, we even had to put on light jackets in the mornings! Kayaking, boating and tubing on the lake was wonderful. We also enjoyed the hummingbirds that came to the upper deck, walks to the stream, and smores in the evenings. The neighbors were WONDERFUL and very friendly (even Murphy - the Black Lab that walked with the kids every morning). The house has all the amenities needed to make your stay enjoyable. The owners are very accomodating and provided all kinds of information about the area. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a place to make wonderful family memories.

This house really is a great value. We stayed here in July 2011 with three couples. The house itself was great. The interior was well appointed and I found everything I needed in the kitchen to cook meals. We also used the bbq several nights and cooked smores at the fire pit. The house sits in a cove in the nw corner of the lake. The cove is beautiful and it's quite peaceful compared to the main part of the lake which has boats zipping everywhere. Every once in a while a boat would come down to the end of the cove but mostly it was quiet and serene. There is a ton of stuff to do here. You can go kayaking, swimming in the lake, use the firepit, play ping pong in the downstairs area, play games (they had a number of different board games at the house), sit at the dock and relax, rent a pontoon boat and explore the lake, go hiking to the numerous waterfalls in the area (be sure to check out whitewater falls, the highest falls in the eastern US), go out to restaurants in cashiers/highlands etc . Speaking of restaurants, I highly recommend Canyon Kitchen at Lonesome Valley in Sapphire. The setting is incredible and the food is very good. We rented a pontoon boat from signal ridge marina and were glad that we did. Exploring the lake and tubing was a blast. The water temp is nice in cool in the summer, just right. There are 3 waterfalls on the lake that you can drive the boat to see. In addition there is a small creek that empties into the lake about 100 yards to the left of the dock. We used the kayak to go over there and explore the creek.

Great Home, great location equals great time! While our husbands played golf at the courses close by, my daughter-in-law and I enjoyed the cozy fireplace with our needlepoint. Evenings playing board games and eating smores soon became a routine that we knew we would miss when we returned home. The view is spectacular and each morning coffee on the porch looking out over the lake was a must! We had overnight guests for a few days and six people were accomodated with no trouble. One of the guests was a chef and he found everything he required in the kitchen to create his gourmet meals. The home was clean, well-stocked and welcoming. It was the perfect relaxing getaway we were looking for. We look forward to visiting again.

We had such a great time at your house – it is an amazing rental!!! You had everything we needed as far as cooking utensils, towels, etc. The beds were super comfortable as well. I do not think that the pictures on the rental VRBO site do the house any justice though –the house and the backyard and dock are the best part and it did not really show through on the site. Your neighbor Mel was fabulous – we played with his dog and spent quite a bit of time with him during our stay. We loved the hummingbirds that came by every evening – that was amazing too. Perfect family vacation home for up to 6 people. Stone fireplace, BBQ, rocking chairs on beautiful deck overlooking lake. Private dock in backyard perfect for fishing, boating, swimming, kayaking. Kayak on property. Outdoor firepit with enough seating for 12…great for nightly campfires….. Super comfortable beds, soft bedding, plenty of closet space. New, clean furniture. TV and VCR, fully appointed kitchen. Washer and dryer, great water pressure in showers, minutes away from horse back riding. We had a vacation that our family will never forget!
