My wife and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary in Santa Fe and were overjoyed with our selection on where to stay. This property exceeded our expectations on all levels, location, scenery, easy access to tourist’s sites, living accommodations and the attention to detail by the owners. The house is absolutely wonderful. Well decorated, comfortable, with all the accessories and accouterments you would expect to find in your own home. Technically everything worked perfectly TV, stereo and DISH satellite. And much to my bride’s dismay I did get some work done on the high-speed Wi-Fi access. My wife sat each day on the porch to watch the sunrise and sunset captivated by the magnificent change of colors on the surrounding mountain side. We were lucky enough to be there during the full moon and I actually enjoyed the moon lit night setting more than the sunsets. Maybe she is right, I was raised by wolves. We took each day to head in a different direction and went to Taos, visited wineries, saw the Ghost Ranch, Lavender farm, Rio Grande gorge and finally into downtown Santa Fe. The location of the property is centrally located and we made the drive to each location in less than an hour. We also enjoyed the actual drives to these locations, whether we were winding through the mountains or viewing the desert scenery. Having seen these sights and ignoring the many casinos and suggested mountain hikes, the day we may have enjoyed most was the day we stayed home and relaxed. However it is always the little things that make the big difference and with this location the big difference are the owners. Their “welcome” packet of restaurant recommendations, places to visit, instructions on how to work all the appliances, local grocery stores locations, where to hike and numerous other pieces of useful information made our new surroundings easy to navigate. I think we ate at seven of the nine restaurant recommendations and all were as good as advertised. My favorite was the Coyote Café. Bring your MasterCard because you will need more cash than most of us carry! In the end I think my wife best described our surroundings as spiritual in nature and an environment that “inspires you.” Our recommendation would be to get “inspired” stay at this location and plan your own unique vacation based the many things to do in Santa Fe.Owner response: Dear John and Kem, Rose and I are thrilled you enjoyed your anniversary and your stay with us, and hope you have the opportunity to return. Our guests just a few weeks before you were married here. It seems that you, like most of our guests, before and after the sight-seeing and local activities, found sitting on the front porch watching the mountains, sun and moon rises, and star gazing, relaxing and rejuvenating. We tried to express that in our advertisement, but I think you said it better. Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your feelings about our place. All the best, Bob and Rose

We fell in love with the photos of this home and thought it would provide the perfect venue for our wedding. It did not disappoint. We stayed for 9 days with our 3 children. We hiked around the house on the trails. My husband ran in the desert and biked all around the area and into Santa Fe. The kids and I did a morning hike at Nambe Falls - which isn't far from the house. The drive into town was easy and we liked having the peace at night to sit on the porch and enjoy some wine and relax. The stars and the moon were exceptional at night. We grilled for our guests and sat on the porch and enjoyed a simple "rehearsal dinner". We hired a chef through the owners recommendation for the wedding and he proved to be outstanding. The kitchen accommodated his staff and is fantastic to cook in. The wedding itself was our family and a few friends on the porch overlooking the mountains. It was the perfect intimate location. We liked being able to see the sun rise and have coffee in the morning. Our guests all commented that they too wished they had done something similar for their weddings. Everyone loved the house and Santa Fe. We will be back!Owner response: Dear Jill, Congratulations. Rose and I are thrilled you had a wonderful wedding and enjoyed your stay with us. We appreciate that you shared some of your photos with us. We have a collection of photos from prior guests, but none were wedding related. We look forward to your return and expect it will be more relaxing when you are not preparing for your wedding. All the best, Bob

We had a great stay in early August. The house was clean and comfortable and had all of the conveniences we needed. As other reviewers have pointed out, the front porch is a highlight of the home. The views are great, especially in the morning watching the sun come up over the mountains - a great place to sit with a cup of coffee and just enjoy the silence, and in the afternoon we enjoyed watching the storms roll in from miles away. We also liked that there was hiking over the ridge behind the house - we really enjoyed the views from up there. The living room has a great surround-sound system, both for movies and music, and has comfortable furniture. We brought our infant daughter, so we cooked breakfast and dinner at the house every day. The kitchen is large and well appointed, and we found everything we needed. Our only disappointment was that the furniture on the porch wasn't the same as the photos. There is a table now instead of the cushioned couch and loveseat. This obviously is not a huge concern, but we spent so much time on the porch that it was something I noticed. In the scheme of things not a big deal. We did enjoy dinner on the porch a couple times at the table. We really liked the location - close enough to conveniences like a large supermarket and a liquor store (with an amazing beer selection), but far enough away from things to see the Milky Way at night. We had never rented a vacation home from a private owner and were a bit wary, but Bob was great to work with. He was always responsive and helpful. For me, this was just as important as the quality of the home. We really enjoyed our stay and will consider returning.Owner response: Thank you so much for the kind words and helpful suggestions. Rose and I take great pride in providing a quality home and great pleasure when our guests are happy with their choice. It is amazing to us how much all of our guests enjoy the porche for relaxing, star-gazing, and the view of the mountains. We offer a discount for returning guests, and hope to see you again soon. All the best, Bo

We are just coming to the end of a wonderful 3-week vacation in this fabulous house and highly recommend it. The owners are great to deal with, and they have thought of everything for the renters. The house is immaculate and very nicely and comfortably decorated. We can hike around the property or be in Santa Fe in under a half hour. We enjoyed visiting Los Alamos, Taos, Madrid, and the area in general. The kitchen is great for cooking, and we found great restaurants in the Santa Fe area, i.e. The Compound, Vinaigrette, Cafe Pasqual, O Eating House (in Nambe). Kokoman's is a great liquor/wine store. We look forward to our next visit!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Dear Joyce, Thank you for taking the time to write a review on our home. Rose and I are happy you enjoyed your stay with us, and look forward to your return next year. We enjoyed the photos of you and your husband walking the property and ridge above it. We also appreciate your recommendations and gracious gifts. All the best, Bob and Rose Greenwald

Thank you so much Bob and Rose for sharing your exquisite second home with fortunate people like myself and my family. It was spectacular in every way possible. You have it so well equipped and comfortable that we hated to leave. We spent 10 nights in mid-October and was pleasantly surprised that we witnessed the change of fall colors of the Aspen and Cottonwood trees on the mountain sides and roadways to bright, bright yellow. Mother nature put on a real show and we wished we could have stayed longer. We would definitely come back and recommend it to others. The distance from the city is perfect because you get the best of both worlds. Peace and quiet, close to day-trip locations and Sante Fe shops and galleries. You have literally thought of it all and made the reservation and arrival process so gracious and welcoming. We took long walks around the home, watched sun and moon rises from the porch and sunsets from the mesa behind the house. We loved the porch, wood-burning fireplace and gas grill. My mother of 89, joined my husband and I for the 10 days in mid-October. Then my two sisters joined for a few days as well. They all raved about their experience and it made our family reunion a very memorable experience. You supply such a wealth of local details that really helped up plan our day-trips and also appreciate the arrangement you have with your local contact person for any questions and assistance. You should put a picture of the sculpture you have of the Native American with flowing hair and antler head dress that sits right off the porch and looks out toward the mountains....so interesting and well done. Again, thank you for sharing your home with others and making this such an easy and enjoyable experience.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My family and I spent eight wonderful nights in this northern Santa Fe home. “Secluded but still close to everything” is a great description. We walked the backyard mesa daily, drove the nearby Taos trail, should have rented bicycles because the local roads and trails were perfect to ride but didn't make time, enjoyed the Santa Fe and neighboring restaurants frequently, visited the mountain parks and vistas and hiked and hiked and hiked. The home is spacious with all the amenities one could ask for. The views from inside and out of the house were absolutely fantastic. We used the outside grill and fireplace frequently. Being on the porch in the evening was worth the price of admission by itself, just absolutely beautiful. The evening stars and the rolling mountain storms were wonderful to watch, a grandstand box seat view everytime..... Our rental experience with Bob and Rose was flawless, a perfect host, can’t wait to return……… If you get the chance, you won't be disapointed.... Was the listing description accurate regarding the location? YES Did the listing photos accurately reflect the rental’s appearance and amenities? YES Was the property clean and well-maintained? YES Was the owner helpful in answering your questions or concerns? YES, and then some.... Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative? No, found on VRBO, rent early, July and August fills up in the Santa Fe area quickly.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This is a great house! The location north of Santa Fe is perfectly situated for enjoying all the sites and activities of Northern New Mexico. The house exceeded our expectations. The large windows offer wonderful views of the mountains from the living room and kitchen, making the house a destintion unto itself. We spent most of our evenings sipping wine or dining on the large porch and enjoying the amazing views - the New Mexico sky provides an incredible show daily. The property was in great shape and well-maintained and the owners were wonderful to work with. Obviously they have built, furnished and maintained this home with loving care. The gourmet kitchen is one of the best equipped we have ever encountered in a rental. If you enjoy cooking, you'll love it here. We would definitely recommend it to friends - we already have - and plan to return ourselves. One caveat. This is probably not the best house for young children simply due to the rugged terrain surrounding the house.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We stayed here for nearly an entire month and had a great time. The house is modern and lovely and all interactions with owner and caretaker were courteous and super-efficient. The location was ideal for us, not too long a drive to Santa Fe (about 25min) but really in a very rural spot. A highlight for me was the walking trails that start either behind the house or a half-mile up the road, going off into scrub and red-rock desert. I went running most evenings and almost never saw another soul (though I regularly saw hawks, hares, and even a few coyotes) Another plus was the enormous kitchen and the outside grill- we made huge meals most nights and drank wine from the nearby vineyard. All in all, highly recommended!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, girls getaway.

We enjoyed our week-long stay in this home. We loved the privacy and the view from the living and dining room is incredible of the Sangre de Cristo mountains capped in snow. The furnishings were clean, new and very comfortable. Plenty of dry firewood for a fire every night in the kiva. What a wonderful place to warm up and relax after a day’s activities in inclement weather! The radiant floor heat is awesome. The location of the house, in Nambe, was a bonus in that we explored Taos, Bandelier and Ghost Ranch and they are all closer to Nambe than Santa Fe. We would highly recommend visiting the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in Taos, river rafting the Grande, the horseback riding tour at Ghost Ranch, climbing to the Alcove House at Bandelier and of coarse visiting the galleries, museums and restaurants in Santa Fe.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

About the owner: Rose and Bob Greenwald are hard working professionals (Rose is a doctor and Bob is an accountant and lawyer). In the late 1980's we came to New Mexico for the first time and have been back at least twice a year since. For the last 10 years we have been searching for the perfect area to buy a home and, eventually retire. We luckily found the perefect spot with a perfect home recently built on it. It is just far enough from the city to avoid the crowds and noise, yet close enough to enjoy all of the benefits. If you choose to stay with us, Rose and I hope you find our home and the surrounding areas as peaceful, beautiful, relaxing and rejuvenating as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Other Santa Fe Properties:
The views, terrain, wheather and energy in the Pojoaque Valley are, in our opinion, beyond compare.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Peace and quite with nearby conveniences and activities. Hike for minutes or hours on trails on our property.
