Location: Canmore, Alberta, Canada (1.5 Hours from Calgary; 20 Minutes to Downtown Banff;) View Map

Accommodations:  Condominium, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

Our centrally located condo will feel like your home away from home. We are long-term Bow Valley residents and thus our home features special touches not found in any hotel or typical vacation home. The Condo is 1092 square feet and features a master bedroom with queen-size bed, two walk-in closets and adjoining four piece bathroom. There is a double bed in our den (which certainly beats having your additional guests sleeping on a pull-out sofa in the living room).

The open concept living room-dining room-kitchen opens onto a large balcony overlooking the Three Sisters and Rundle mountains. Our home has a very comfortable feeling. The view is amazing! Local amenities (groceries, liquor, restaurants) are less than a one-minute walk away. With a five-minute walk you can be in the heart of downtown Canmore - full of shops, restaurants, and galleries.

Please note that the private entry to the unit is at street level. Upon entering the foyer area, you then ascend a flight of stairs to access the main living area. There is not an elevator or wheelchair lift inside the unit.

Great Value for Families, Downtown Canmore

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Canmore

With our backgrounds deeply rooted in the hospitality industry, it was easy for us to decide to own a vacation rental. We love this area and want to share it with others. Working in a hotel does not offer the same one-on-one guest experience that we can offer in operating a vacation rental.

The Unique Benefits at this Condominium

We have tried to outfit our condo with items and amenities that will make this destination a good value for families. Books, movies, family games and more. The Banff National Park Pass that we include with our condo assists in keeping the day-to-day expenses of exploring the area low.

Owner's Map of Canmore

My husband and I moved to the Bow Valley in 1998 and sought to begin our career in this beautiful area. We had both graduated from Hotel & Restaurant Management and this was the perfect area to learn more about the hospitality industry. What began as "we're only staying for 6 months" quickly turned into "we can't imagine living anywhere else in the world". I found my dream job working at The Banff Centre, and my husband found his dream job working for the Town of Canmore (after 9 years with the Banff Springs Hotel).

    • We had a wonderful time at the condo. It proved to be a great location and very functional. Condo was competitive with others advertised, extras (backpacks, games) definitely add to value. Building type was not mentioned as well as proximity to train...although I can understand you wouldn't want to advertise the train. It turned out not to be an issue it was only slightly disturbing in the early evening but we didn't hear it much otherwise...I'm not sure whether it is better to warn people or not. The fact that it was a commercial building was a surprise. We passed by twice before we realized we had the right address. This is not a deterrent but because we were looking for a traditional condo building it made it more difficult to find. It may be helpful to disclose more clearly in the future. Place was clean as expected. Use of backpacks, movies, games, internet and park pass were all very huge bonuses and much appreciated by us!!!! We would likely stay with you again if our travels take us to Canmore. Overall we did have a wonderful time though thank you for providing the means to give my young family an awesome vacation ( even the baby enjoyed it).

      Homeowner Response:
Thank you for the great comments and suggestions. Information about the train has been added to our website (rockiesrentals.ca/vacationrentals), and we have updated the driving directions to better describe the building so it is easier to find.

    • My dogs and I stayed at the condo for almost two months (Jan-Feb 09), and it very much became a home away from home. It's extremely well appointed and super conveniently located. Housekeeping was great, too. I also appreciated the friendly and smooth communication with the owners as well as their attentiveness. Thanks for everything!

    • Thank you for renting your beautiful home to us for the week. It was very relaxing to retire to the mountains after long days at the conference. I am already planning a vacation to come back and see what time didn't allow this trip.

    • We had a wonderful stay in Canmore. We traveled from place to place for l0 days the this was the only condo we stayed in. It was very comfortable and the location was convenient. Having the dvd player and games was a nice touch. My only comment is that the prospective tenant should be told about the stair. It wasn't a problem for us but I think it could be for someone older or with a disability. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend the condo to any couple visiting the Canmore area.
