SIMPLICITY AT IT'S BEST!
The Blue Whale Inn is a small private cottage Located on beautiful St. George Island, Florida.
Built in 1983 and Purchased in 1995 by the Matthews family, it is now available for rent (in 1 week blocks only) to the general public on a limited basis. Additional info is available on our personal website @ bluewhaleinn dot net
While this vacation home is not a 'glamorous beach mansion', it is cozy, comfortable & clean... it's a traditional 'beach cottage'. Friends have described it as a "1970's type island bugalow". The location is directly across the street from the ocean with easy public beach access. It's near the center of the island (309 West Gorrie Drive)and within walking distance to shops, restaurants and recreation areas. There is very little 'traffic' on the road in front of the house, so crossing the street to the beach w/kids is not a problem. The island is great for runners or bikers (with flat terrain and sidewalks along Gulf Beach Drive).
It features a large deck with fantastic views of the Gulf of Mexico along with a 4 person hot-tub.
The home sleeps 6 comfortably with 3 bedrooms (loft BR with king bed, master BR with queen bed & children's room with bunk beds). 2 additional people could sleep on the fold out queen Futon in the living room. There is a full bath with tub on the main level, a half bath upstairs in the loft and a ground level shower and outside shower on the main deck.
This cottage is available for 'WEEK LONG STAYS' ONLY (7 days). Shorter stays are welcome, but the rate would be based on '1 week'.
There are lots of extras including a hammock for the deck, entertainment system with outdoor speakers and Dish Network TV with HBO and over 200 additional channels. All the furniture and appliances are new and linens/towles/dishes/cookware are provided.
Our rates are affordable and vary depending on length of stay and season. The home (and beach) is 'pet friendly' (with non-refundable $100 pet deposit). View our website for current rental rate card along with our rental terms & conditions. There are no additional charges other than 9% state sales tax. We are currently not set up for credit cards, but personal checks are fine.

Season 2 (Mar 09-22, Apr 06-19, May 04-17, Aug 03-Oct 26) $ 950/week
Season 3 (all remaining dates) $ 750/week
All rentals require a minimum 1 week reservation
50% deposit required to book (balance due 10 prior to arrival)
Standard Pet fee: $100 (covers up to 3 pets)
Fees do not include State of Florida/Franklin County 9% sales tax
