We BOAST the BEST WATERFRONT on Lake Lure ... Perfect for water lovers and water watchers. Our beautiful, newly constructed, boat house includes a big dock for rocking chairs both in or out of the sun... We have a water level dock that allows you to dangle your feet in the water just to get cooled down.
For a full swim, our wide steps allow you to slowly enter the water.....or you can be adventursome and jump or dive off the end of each of our swim docks or really get out there by jumping off the top of our double slotted boat house.... Quite a thrill... No one has ever touched bottom by jumping off the top of our boat house.
For sun lovers, bring your sunscreen cause our boat house deck is huge and gets full sun all day.... but when you get hot, all you have to do is jump off the top for a quick cool down. We supply ski belts, just to be safe... also blue rubberized floats and a peddle paddle boat for seeing the lake.
For shade lovers, rock comfortably on our shade screened lakefront porch or sit on our outside fully shaded patio with hammock. You can still see all the action on the lake. In fact all of the rooms in our cottage have a beautiful view of Rumbling Bald Mountain and the lake.
So we are nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Appalachian Chain, on the crystal clear, emerald waters of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world (National Geographic 1954), our lake front cottage's perfect location allows for active as well as "laid back" vacationers during all seasons. With three, 18 hole golf courses in a three mile radius, municipal tennis courts, horseback riding, sight seeing, shopping, water sports, and wonderful restaurants within in a 20 minute drive, our guests can play till they drop.
Swimming, skiing, and floating the lake's currents are wonderful activities May through September, after which you will need a wet-suit and a warm wood fire blazing in our fireplace. Be certain to bring hot chocolate! But most of all ENJOY IT ALL!
Our cottage has 4 bedrooms..on the upper level there is a bedroom with a king and queen bed, and a second bedroom with a double. There is a bath room on the upper level.On the main level there is a bath and a bedroom with a king bed and a single bed. On the lower level is a bunk room (not accessable from main house, has own entrance) with 2 sets of bunk beds and a bathroom. Should be noted that it is not air conditioned. Perfect for children of all ages.. plus 2 sleeping cots on the lake front porch

During our stay at lake lure, our family had the most relaxing time sitting on top of the very large boat house enjoying the views. The house is a true lake house with some great charm and very clean. The waterfront is simply fantastic. We had a question about the washing machine and the owner was very prompt in returning our call. Very helpful. It was a wonderful vacation and we felt relaxed from the moment we entered the home. Thanks for the great experience! We plan to return every year.
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

What a wonderful retreat! We felt right at home and immediately comfortable in this magical place. The bedrooms more than fit our large family and the entire cabin was spotless. No problems at all with the water pressure. With the mild temps in the mountains we slept every night with the windows open listening to the soothing sounds of the crickets. The view from the house is absolutely incredible- expansive, untouched mountain scene. Our golden (and his parents) swam himself silly in the beautiful emerald green waters of the lake. Just perfect.

We had a wonderful weekend at your cottage, taking in the view and enjoying the house. We felt at home immediately and although rooms were not large, they were cozy and clean and space was well-used so we were not at all cramped. We hope we'll be able to return next year and make this a fall tradition for our family!

Our family needed a place to relax and unwind, and we found it here! This house was a great mix of conveniences and comfort, so we felt at home enough to put up our feet and enjoy the views and each other's company. This unpretentious cottage welcomed us with open arms, with its cleanliness and its character. The moumtain and lake views available from every window added to the pleasure of our stay - and we will be back! We slept in every morning so didn't see the ghost, but if there is one, it must be a friendly spirit because the home was filled with good vibes!

We were told the house would sleep 13, however, the house only has room for 9-10. The 4th "bedroom" is a pool room with two sets of bunk beds ONLY accessible from the outside (not for children!!). The other "bedroom" is a screened-in porch with two twin beds. We were told we would have enough room to park 7 cars. However, the three cars we had wouldn't even fit in the parking area. When we got to the house, the dishes and silverware in the drawers were dirty. There was NO water pressure and the water was brown. On the last day, we had NO running water at all, regardless of pressure. We were unable to wash any towels (as we were asked to do) and we had to wash the dishes with bottles of water. The boathouse porch has a gate for jumping into the lake, however, THE LATCH DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. A CHILD FELL the 15 ft into the lake. When we tried to contact the owners (as they suggested if we had any problems) our calls were NEVER answered and NO calls were returned. Our only course of action was to tie the gate shut with a rope. The lake is lovely; this house is a nightmare! We will absolutely NOT recommend this house to anyone!!
Owner response:Given the number of satisfied renters and returning parties we have had over our 10 years of renting, this review was a real departure from the norm and came as a shock and disappointment to us. During this renter's stay, we were in Alaska on a cruise and knew that we would not be accessible, so had made arrangements with a local maintenace person to be available 24/7 for any problams. His name and number were posted in a prominent place in the home,but for reasons unknown to us, no calls were made to this designated "go-to" person about the condition of the home or the problems with the water. After the holiday weekend, upon receiving messages that had been left on our home and business phones, our property manager immediately responded to the complaintant and arranged for the reapir of the well pump. The water service has been fully restored and is in top condition, and subsequent renters have been quite satisfied with all aspects of the property. We are committed to providing a quality experience to our guests, and take pride in the condition of our home and the responsiveness we show to any concerns that arise. We welcome the opportunity to talk with you about any questions or concerns you have and hope to share our cozy cottage at Lake Lure with you.

This place was great for our group of three families, very livable and the dock swimming/jumping was great. One note of caution for anyone bringing a boat; the town is very protective of the lake and charges $206 for a 5day boat pass (none for weekends) and the trailer parking is limited to 24 hours.
