Secluded but still within walking distance of town, the North Gate House is the ideal rental home in Gardiner, MT. The owners have gone out of their way to build and furnish a lovely home and stock it with every possible need for visitors. The house is built on the hillside overlooking the small town of Gardiner but is only about a mile away from the north entrance of the ultimate national park in the country (Yellowstone). The huge windows and deck facing the town and park were great for wildlife viewing, bird watching and photography as the house is surrounded by views of animals and birds including deer, elk, and even golden eagles flying by. You can easily see Roosevelt Arch from the deck. It is always nice to rent from nice people and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Satellite TV and high-speed internet helped us keep in touch with what was happening in the rest of the world. The dishes, utensils, pots, and pans were high quality and were a pleasure to use. Dishwasher detergent and laundry soap and softener for the HE washer and dryer were provided. We did stop at Costco in Bozeman so stock up on fruit, salads, and chicken but the small grocery store in town is well stocked with ample staples and a surprising array of "gourmet" foods. There are stairs to the main floor from the lower (entrance) level, which may cause a problem for someone with difficulty walking or climbing. Their library of reference books and videos on Yellowstone National Park was great with a variety of books on hiking, fishing, wildlife, birds, mammals, geology, etc. Overall, this was a wonderful place to stay for nature lovers and photographers.

Have you ever gone some where for a second visit and had it not be quite as nice as you remembered ?? NOT SO WITH THE NORTHGATE HOME!! It was just as comfortable and welcoming as it had been 2 1/2 years ago. Cheryl & Rick have gone above and beyond to provide everything you could possibly need or want for your "home away from home". This was our first fall visit so we were hoping for fall color and the aspen trees didn't disappoint us. They were all dressed up in their georgeous yellow and gold fall wardrobe. We enjoyed watching the mule deer family that came to visit each evening. (Dad with his impressive head gear, Mom & cute little Baby). They would bed down each night right outside the kitchen window and still be there at first light the next morning. Inside the park a beautiful Bull Elk was bugleing to his "ladies".as they grazed on the median right in front of the Mammoth Post Office. He kept them all rounded up so that he could keep his eye on them. No wandering away "ladies". In Hayden Vallley we watched several Bull Bison pawing up dust storms and banging their heads together trying to decide who would be "Top Bison". Wow, it gave me a headache just hearing the collision.. No matter when we visit Yellowstone, there always seems to be something new to see. It was nice to play tourist knowing that you had the Northgate House to come home to. A quiet place to take off your shoes, kick back, and just look out at the beautiful view from your living room windows. When we are lucky enough to visit Yellowstone again, this is, without a doubt, the place where we would want to stay. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us AGAIN!

I, my husband, 15 yr old daughter and 9 year old son came from MN and met up with my inlaws from OR to stay in this house. The layout of the house is great as each group had their own bedroom/bathroom. (It is sort of 3 levels with a bedroom on each.) The house is beautifully decorated, very clean and all was in working order. We were over the top impressed with how well stocked this home is as far as pantry and other misc items such as coolers, baby items, games, etc. (Big kudos on the pantry items!!) This home is first class all the way. Rick and Cheryl are exceptional owners who manage and offer an exceptional product/service. We would gladly rent this home again if given the opportunity as we felt like royalty when we arrived and throughout our stay. It was magical to watch the deer and elk come right next to the house. We all quietly watched from the deck in amazement. The driveway has somewhat loose rock (at least when we were there) but is compacting as people drive on it. The driveway also has two entries so once you figure that out, you never really have to back up which is nice when parking outside. The house is every bit as beautiful as the on line photos show...if not more! The drive to Mammoth Springs is roughly 15 minutes + or - 5 minutes depending on other cars. This is a great place to stay when exploring Yellowstone...especially the north half. We felt 'at home' each night. In Gardiner, we at a family diner at the end of the main street and a cowboy steak house...both of which were very good. The grocery store is just a few blocks drive away...very convenient!. Our thanks to Rick and Cheryl for sharing your home with us! Your extra touches made it very special for all of us!

Our family has been waiting for this trip for years. It was so nice to come home to such a lovely and comfortable house, after a long day in Yellowstone. THANK GOODNESS for the baby gates! My 13 month old son had such a good time running around the house. He loved watching the deer walk by and playing in the rocks. This vacation will be one we will remember always. We loved staying here at your North Gate house. The snacks were very thoughtful as we got into town late & everything was closed and it was the best stocked house we have ever stayed in. We got to see lots of wildlife in Yellowstone: 10 bears all together, 2 wolves, golden eagle, bald eagle, pronghorn, elk, coyote and lots of bison. The kids had the time of their lives. It was so nice to come "home" each night after a long day in the park to your comfortable house. We hope to return someday.

We can't thank you enough for the use of the Northgate House. My wife said it was perfect. Its like home. This vacation ranks way up there. The park is obviously unbelievable, rafting and horseback riding were outstanding, and all the time we knew we were "coming home" to the Northgate House. The wildlife we saw elk, bison, bears, deer coyote, wolves, hawks and eagles were just unbelievable. Friday night i was cooking on the grill and a 8 point blacktail deer walked within three feet of me every time i opened the grill. I guess he wanted a cheese burger. My wife and i think we will be back in 3 or 4 years. It is wonderful here. Thank you again

We enjoyed our week long stay in Gardiner. We took in much of Yellowstone & even took in the local rodeo. It was so peaceful to wake up every morning to the beauty of the mountains. We can truly understand why Montana is the Big Sky country. The whole family enjoyed the house. Walking to some of the local shops for ice cream. We have enjoyed our stay at your beautiful home and appreciate the opportunity to share it. We have been coming to Montana for the last 6 years and love it here. Everyone in our group was simply fell in love with this cabin. Immaculately clean, great floorplan with its three bathrooms, a short walk to town, and a great view made this the perfect base for our daily excursions into Yellowstone. The owner's list of available amenities give new meaning to the term "going the extra mile" to please their guests as all our everyday needs were already on hand. We have been home nearly a week now and my wife still is talking about the Northgate House as the highpoint of her vacation. This was my first visit to the Yellowstone area and I fell in love with the park. Be assured, I will be back and the Northgate House will #1 on my list of places to stay. A Fabulous Place for Families Visiting Yellowstone

What a wonderful place to use as your base-camp for exploring Yellowstone. This house is immaculate and the best stocked vacation home I have ever seen. We traveled with elementary and toddler age children and couldn't have asked for more. Deer and Elk routinely visited us, and the neighbors were friendly and accomodating on our evening explorations. You can walk to town and be in the park in 5 minutes. I highly recommend this property and would love to stay again (maybe in the winter next time!)

The house is beautiful and close to the park entrance. It is so well stocked with everything you need to make your stay wonderful. It was spotless. The owners, Cheryl and Rick, have paid attention to every detail and it shows. Loved it! I would recommend it highly. We went in April so it was not a crowded tourist season. Did the park daily. We feel so lucky and privileged to have found possibly the best, most luxurious and comfortable place to stay in Yellowstone! Rick and Cheryl could have not been more hospitable and attentive hosts, particularly as we were visiting from the UK. You know, we simply cannot say enough wonderful things about the house OR about the owners! The house is BEAUTIFUL - the pictures are fantastic, but in person the house is filled with gorgeous wood floors and cabinetry and has so many cozy details - we were at home right away! We have three teenagers (age 14, 15, & 16) and even THEY were completely impressed with the house (and you know how hard teenagers are to impress!). Our first morning there we saw a Mama Elk and her babies along with some deer - and we saw wildlife everywhere our entire time there. The house is just a short drive from the park, and it was nice to have such a lovely home waiting for us each night after sightseeing all day! We had to cut our visit short due to a medical emergency with my husband, and Cindy and Rick were incredibly kind about it - and even called to see how he was doing. This is the BEST vacation - even cut short - that we've ever had, and I cannot recommend the Northgate House enough!!

There are no words to describe the North Gate experience—it is truly fantastic. Rick and Cheryl are fabulous hosts and have thought of every single detail. You will truly want for nothing in the home and nothing has been overlooked—technology, amenities, basic supplies, ultra comfort, and amazing layout. The views from the deck are truly breath taking and we were fortunate enough to see 4th of July fireworks during our stay.The photos on the web are very good, but to see this place in person is unbelievable. This is our first experience with VRBO and based upon our stay at North Gate, it will not be our last, although the standard for future stays has been set very high and we will always compare our time at North Gate to any other VRBO rentals.Yellowstone is within sight and the town of Gardiner has most everything one could need for a pleasurable Yellowstone vacation. We have rented many very plesant vacation homes in the past but this one will most certainly be at the top of the list. Rick & Cherl handle everything in a personable way. They make you feel as if you are visiting friends. The house provides everything you could possibly need or want. It's a little like country in the city. It's is a short drive both to shopping and to the park, but rural enough to provide entertainment both from the horses in the corral next door and the deer and elk who stroll thru the area trying to steal a tasty nibble from the neighbors garden. This was our first experience renting a house while on vacation, and the truth is that the bar has now been set extremely high! The Northgate house is so attractive, inviting, and well-appointed that we might be spoiled for life! We loved everything about this home. It is perfectly situated just outside of Yellowstone, with a gorgeous view from the deck, wildlife everywhere, and plenty of sunlight streaming through the huge windows. The house itself is so clean and beautifully decorated...like a model, except with all the warmth and special touches of a real home. Cheryl and Rick were wonderful to work with, as well. We can't say enough good things about our 6 day stay at the Nortgate house, and neither can our 3 kids. We're so thankful we found it! If you're looking for an exceptional home to stay in while visiting Yellowstone, search no more. This is the one!

Thanks, Cheryl and Rick for letting us stay in your beautiful home. This home is by far the most well-equipped that we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. We really appreciate all the conveniences you provided, particularly since we flew in from Virginia and didn't have to worry about picking up detergent, etc. My kids had a great time, too and also loved the house. We saw mule deer, antelope and elk in the yard and bison, coyote and even 2 wolves at dusk inside the park. Thanks again for everything and we'd love to stay again if we ever find ourselves in your neck of the woods.

We spent New Year's Eve and Julie's 40th. When we arrived a huge elk was laying beside the house. Entered a nice warm and inviting home after a long drive. We went to the park each day, after watching the mule deer and elk feed each morning. Gray, cloudy, gorgeous... Yellowstone with an empty road, WOW! All the comforts of home when we returned. The pizza from Outlaw was awesome the second day. Thank you for allowing us to spend time in this beautiful home. We appreciated all of your communication. We were able to make those reservations for that wild-life tour.

9/25/08 My comment for this house is, if you are planning a trip to Yellowstone, stay at Northgate House. The house is new, and just beautiful. The country deco in the bedrooms and bath go so well with the theme of Yellowstone.Rick and Cherly were great people to communicate with. They thought of everything that you would need for your stay at the house. I have rented a lot of houses from Vrbo, and you need not worry about being dissappointed about renting Northgate House. We had a wonderful stay at the North Gate House in Gardiner, Montana. It was close to the Yellowstone entrance and the house itself was fantastic. Everything we needed plus more was provided. It was extremely clean and comfortable. Our son hiked to the Yellowstone River nearly every morning and caught trout. We had elk visit regularly and the grandchildren enjoyed "their room" and the x-box. There are numerous rafting, horseback riding and touring excursions available right in town. Soaking in the natural hotub where the Boiling River and the Gardiner River merge was a real highlight too. Thank you Rick and Cheryl for thinking of "everything"! Allen and Judy Hartwig

Unquestionably, we just returned from the best vacation I had ever taken in my life. Yellowstone is truly a gift from GOD.I just wanted to thank the Brown’s for allowing us to rent their beautiful home. The view off the deck is unbelievable. I have rented vacation homes on a few occasions and never have I had one so comfortable, accommodating, and well equipped. It’s conveniently located to all of the amenities of town and yet a great launching pad to start each day’s adventure. We prepared a good percentage of our meals at the house, and found the kitchen to be very functional easy to find all that you need. I recommend an early morning hike up the mountain that backs up to the house. The Brown’s are very helpful and I strongly recommend the use of the North Gate House upon your travels to Yellowstone.

What can we say about the Northgate house? WOW! We completely enjoyed out stay there. This must rank as one of, if not the, best place to stay in Gardiner. We enjoyed our mornings having coffee, overlooking the Mountains, looking at the elk in the valley below. We spent out days doing other activies (horseback, river rafting), or taking spectacular day trips in the parks. Follwed by a return "home" to have a home cooked meal prepared in a wonderful kitchen. The Northgate house is a brand new beautiful house. When we arrived we were stunned with the beautiful views and the total impression of the building. When we left we really felt sorry. In the house you get:- breathtaking views from the mountains across, you will see bison, elk, deer, etc. in huge numbers- a clean comfortable house- the ceiling in the living room is 20ft high! with lots of glass windows. You’ll have a great experience just sitting on the couch.- The pictures of the house won’t show you the completeness and the comfort:o Every floor has clean, complete & neat bathroomo Televisionso Heaps of cabinet spaceo Slide windows with mosquito protectiono Heating / coolingo And more- Beautiful modern, over complete kitchen. Any pan, tool, etc you need, you will find.- Anything & more you’ll need: it’s there- It’s totally modern, but with the nice accents that you could expect in Yellow Stone country.- Mule deer & lots of birds around the house- High speed Internet- It’s very close to the north gate of yellow stone park (within 1 mile). You can see the Roosevelt arch. But you have all the privacy that you want.The communication with Rick & Cheryl goes perfect. The Northgate house is a brand new beautiful house. When we arrived we were stunned with the beautiful views and the total impression of the building. When we left we really felt sorry. In the house you get: - breathtaking views from the mountains across, you will see bison, elk, deer, etc. in huge numbers - a clean comfortable house - the ceiling in the living room is 20ft high! with lots of glass windows. You’ll have a great experience just sitting on the couch. - The pictures of the house won’t show you the completeness and the comfort: o Every floor has clean, complete & neat bathroom o Televisions o Heaps of cabinet space o Slide windows with mosquito protection o Heating / cooling o And more - Beautiful modern, over complete kitchen. Any pan, tool, etc you need, you will find. - Anything & more you’ll need: it’s there - It’s totally modern, but with the nice accents that you could expect in Yellow Stone country. - Mule deer & lots of birds around the house - High speed Internet - It’s very close to the north gate of yellow stone park (within 1 mile). You can see the Roosevelt arch. But you have all the privacy that you want. The communication with Rick & Cheryl goes perfect. Any question, any time gets a quick response. This log cabin is better than any B&B and hotels. Cheryl and Ric thought of everything you would need from the western theme of the cabin from the house decorations to the movies and library selection of books, along with a fully stock kitchen, and welcome basket. The view from the house is so amazing. Their backyard had anywhere from 6-8 elks grazing. The bunkbed and xbox games my son just loved. We would definitely recommend this to our friends and family who would considering vacationing in Yellowstone, since it is only 5 minutes away. Thanks Cheryl and Ric for building such a great cabin.
