This is a great adult home that is both tidy and dog friendly. It is so nice to experience clean, contemporary design in a vacation rental. The description on VRBO is very fair and the home was well equipped and ready for us to relax. The layout works well for two couples, as the common area floor provides a buffer of privacy between the upstairs master and the downstairs bedrooms. It would probably also be good for a couple with older children (who would enjoy the downstairs den). The outdoor shower off the master is pleasant, but a bit brisk in winter--be warned! The location was perfect for easy beach access and strolling to breakfast or dinner. We also loved the quick access to Charleston. Thank you for offering your lovely home on VRBO!

We rented this house for a wedding that we went too ever Easter weekend. We could not be any happier with this house. The house was very big, extremely clean, and very organized. You can definelty tell that the owner takes care of the house. We brought our 3 children, and our lab with us. Our children are 5, 4, and 1. I brought bath towels and beach towels with us because I am very grossed out by using other peoples towels. Next time we stay, I will not be bringing them with us because that is how clean everything is. The Lost Dog is my favorite breakfast place. Dont' forget the dogs, because they are welcome there too. Also another great restaurant is Ritas. Everybody that lives at Folly Beach is very pleasant. We are already planning on when we are coming down next year and staying at this house. I have been talking to everyone since we got back about our trip and the house. Thank you Molly for letting us stay at your home and answering all of our questions!

We loved staying here (Mar 17-25, 2011)! A few short blocks from the beach and Folly Beach restaurants. The laid-back tone of FB was infectuous! And elegant downtown Charleston a 15-20 minute drive away. We opted to use the first floor as our suite, yielding the dramatic third floor master aerie to house guests. Grand kitchen-dining-great room with 20 foot cieling wowed our house- and dinner- guests and could have accommodated many times the six we entertained. Two screened porches and fabulous third floor deck meant getaway space for everyone. And don't forget free coffee at Berts around the corner, where you could find just about everything, including free treats for the dogs. Owner Molly was very accommodating.

This is a lovely, well maintained home in a great location. The owners could not be nicer or more helpful. We first rented the home in November 2008 and returned again February 2011. The house is pristine and well designed for large groups. Very close to the beach and a short drive to downtown Charleston. Highly recommend!

My girlfriends and I had a long weekend stay at this spectacular beach house. The layout is perfect for groups as there is adequate privacy. The house is tastefully decorated and perfect - extremely well taken care of. The location was ideal for our needs as we simply wanted to stay put and enjoy each others company. I would suggest a car for exploring the area. HIGHLY recommend this as the perfect beach house!

This is a newer, nice beach house. Having grown up in Charleston, I would say it is not your common Folly Beach house, but that's a good thing in this case. The only real complaint is that whoever stays in the master bedroom which is on the 3rd floor must go to the 1st floor to shower or shower outside on the balcony. There is a toilet and sink in the master bedroom, but the shower is outside. The only indoor shower/tub is on the first floor with the rest of the bedrooms. There are some small complaints which are very fixable. There is only one TV in the house! The main floor and the master do not have a TV. There is not a microwave. The dining chairs are very worn out and need to be replaced. The furniture is a bit worn. The art is a bit odd. Good stuff - the house is open and airy. Very nice and clean! The bottle cap picture is awesome! I loved being able to bring my dogs who loved the beach! The owner was extremely pleasant and helpful. I would consider staying here again.
Owner response:The VRBO listing shows that the shower for the 3rd floor master bath is outdoors on the porch. Most people love it, but it may not be everyone's cup of tea, especially on cold winter mornings. It is intentional that there is only one TV, located in the downstairs den. I've had a number of people tell me that they appreciate that their families spend more time conversing, because of this arrangement. We choose not to have a microwave for nutritional/health reasons. The stove/oven works great! The chairs at the dining table are mid-century modern and a couple of them could admittedly be refurbished. We will take care of that. Some of the art is unconventional or thought provoking, but this is not by accident; You may not love every piece. All in all, our house is different than anything else you're going to find on the rental market and we hope it provides an interesting backdrop to your vacation.

My husband, myself and our 2 dogs stayed at this great home in Aug for 4 days. The home is very pet friendly and comfortable. We enjoyed the fact that it was only 2 blocks to the beach and to all the shops and restaurants. We never moved the car except to go to the grocery store (there are small convenience stores within walking distance). There were plenty of towels, you would never know there had been pets in the house and it was very roomy. Large families would be very comfortable. Molly was very good to work with and I would definately rent it again.

We had a wonderfully relaxing time here! The teenagers hung out in the foosball room (and whipped their seniors soundly in the family tournament). The dining room became our gathering space for conversation, jigsaw working, and card games; the thoroughly stocked kitchen provided everything we needed to take turns cooking. Everyone loved the plein air shower- so simple, so right for this home. We all loved the bottle cap mosaic and the reading nooks. Thanks for your vision of a retreat sans psychic clutter- we all benefitted. Ofarrells, Allens, Pouleses

My husband, puppies & I had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. I love open & airy places. The amount of light coming in - makes you feel like your still enjoying the outdoors. Enjoyed the hammocks in the enclosed porches! Loved going to Bert's & getting the puppies the gourmet treats on the way back from their walk on the beach in the mornings. Thanks Molly for the great restful vacation experience.

My now husband and I stayed at this home along with my parents and sister's family in the week leading up to our wedding. The home is beautifully decorated and designed. It was the perfect set up for 3 different families. Everything we could have needed was provided from kitchen appliances to beach boogie boards and chairs. We were able to relax with coffee and tea on the back porch each morning. Te hammocks were wonderful! My sister's daughter who was 7 months old loved the open living space upstairs. We could all make dinner while watching her play. It was also nice to be only a short walk to Folly Beach Road and great restaurants like The Lost Dog and Ritas. The owner made the rental process so easy and provided us with all the information we needed to make a more than amazing week-before-wedding! We cannot wait to have family vacations there in the future!

Dear Molly, Our week at Folly Beach could not have been better!! Your fabulous house was the perfect setting for the week's wedding festivities for our son and his bride. We had about 65 people there for a party, and our guests were blown away by what awaited them. The dining room table was a showcase for the food and decor. I will forward pictures to you. Being fellow art lovers, we enjoyed the surrounding paintings, collages, etc. every time we entered the house. We have also never rented a house that was so fully equipped, and stocked with the necessities to get you started. I replaced as needed. All the appliances were top notch, down to blender, mixer, coffee maker, etc. Really made my week easy. Having said all that, the best part of the house is the personality and soul that is an obvious reflection of you and David and your family. We loved it, and look forward to staying there again in the very near future. Thank you Molly for being so accommodating to my every need. I really did appreciate your efforts. We had the good fortune to run into David in Charleston. Sorry we missed seeing you. Thanks again for everything. Best regards........Vicki and Robert, Camden, SC

For anyone looking for a great place to stay, this is it! The house is beautifully decorated as well as comfortable. I especially loved the outdoor shower on the roof as well as the screened in porch off the kitchen, great for happy hours or drinking coffee in the morning. You feel like your living in the trees with tons of beautiful birds everywhere and a fabulous view! The location is great, just a couple blocks from everything down town as well as the beach. We took full use of all the amenities, BBQ grill, bikes, beach chairs and umbrella, etc. All the appliances, washer/dryer etc. are top of the line. The decor and artwork are beautiful, making for great conversation. It was also nice that it was pet friendly, though you would never know pets had been in there! Can't say enough about this house, it was a great place to stay!

An oasis of the avant garde amid Folly's appealing surf-vibe and close to the civilization of Charleston, this house MADE our vacation, accommodating Thanksgiving dinner for 12 and a cocktail party for my husbands birthday, and then providing us with a tranquil space in which to lounge and recover afterward. Highly recommended to anyone hoping to escape the visual equivalent of elevator music typical of rental properties -- you'll wish your own house were this hip.

Molly, We loved the house. It was worth our drive from Aiken just to see it. Normally when you read a description of a rental home there might be some skepticism, but your house was even better than advertised. Additionally, thank you very much for being flexible in terms of the dates of our visit. I appreciated the ability to stay two days for a fair price and wish we could have stayed longer. I look forward to staying at your house again if my family ever gets the opportunity. Kevin

Hi Molly - My name is Joanna and I'm Sharon's sister, and my boyfriend and I came out from California to visit with my family at your WONDERFUL beach house the other week. We had the BEST time and your home was awesome!! We loved the main floor -- the openness was perfect for spending quality time together. And it was so cute to see my 15 month old nephew running around back and forth along that floor. We loved the steel beams and the artwork... and everything about your home!! I just wanted to send a note to say thank you and to let you know that we had an absolutely wonderful time! I am so thankful that Sharon found your listing and chose it!! It was such a perfect vacation home. Many thanks again and I hope we can come back for another visit down the road! Best, Joanna

Dear Molly: The six weeks we spent at your home on Folly Island during last February and March more than met our high expectations. We enjoyed the mild weather, the attractions of Charleston and the surrounding area, South Carolina's mannerly people, Folly Island, and, not least, what we came to consider as "our loft" - its comfort, style, spaciousness, light, views, and lovely artworks. Truly a fine place to stay and much admired by our house guests too. We hope to return! Hugh and Sue Auld Roseneath, Canada

Folly Beach is a wonderful place to spend some time - well within striking distance of Charleston yet feels like a quiet and funky beach town all the way. The house is such a welcome change from cramped beach cottages. Open plan, tons of light, airy and architecturally distinct. Beautifully decorated with art and great pieces of custom furniture, and all mod cons were in place. The outdoor shower was a particular fave. We loved our stay and will be back.

We've stayed in a lot of beach houses, but this was my favorite. We felt like we could enjoy the outdoors even in bad weather, with all the beautiful windows and the openness of the architecture. Great house for reading, yoga, enjoying music. Loved the big kitchen table, all the porches, the art work. We also loved Folly. So laid back. Great beach for riding bikes, and the park was fun since we enjoy playing tennis. Thanks for sharing your home, it was wonderful!

Hi Molly, It was a wonderful experience being in your beach house on Folly. The architecture was amazing as was the placement of the windows. One afternoon a very violent storm moved through (there were tornado warnings for James Island). The five of us stood near the kitchen after being chased off the rain soaked porch. Inside the shelter of steel we could see almost 360 degrees around us as the trees were being bent and blown at surreal angles. Debris was falling everywhere. We felt that we were able to witness the full fury of this fantastic event without leaving the comfort of your home. IT was an experience I will not soon forget. Todd

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your Folly Beach home this past weekend. Your home is amazing! Staying at your home definitely gave us inspiration to move forward with some home renovation projects that had stalled in recent months. I've always liked Folly Beach for its eclectic mix of architectural style and your home is a wonderful addition to the existing homes there. I love the mix of modern and vintage in your home. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are already discussing when we might be able to come back for a full week! Best, Mary
