There is nothing like a Kona sunset, particularly when it is seen from the beach just across from our condominium complex. Locals and visitors, young and old alike, gather to enjoy the beauty and to catch the last waves of the day. Daytime brings swimmers, boogie boarders, snorkelers and kids to play in the fine, white sand. Others prefer just to read a book in the shade of a palm tree. You might catch a view of spinner dolphins just off shore. And the famous snorkeling beach, Kahalu’u, with its green turtles and colorful tropical fish, is just a comfortable mile walk south.
Kona enjoys sunny days and gentle breezes as it is protected from the moisture laden trade winds by the twin volcanic peaks of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. Our condo is a value-priced alternative to the more expensive Kohala Coast resorts. We offer many resort amenities: a lovely pool, spa and tennis courts on site, a beach just across the street, and 2 great golf courses at the Kona Country Club just minutes away. But, our condo has a more home-away-from-home feel.
We have, however, fully updated the condo with all new appliances, new tiled floors, WiFi, and updated kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped as we like to cook! And there is a great place down by the pool to barbaque. Just up the hill at Keauhou shopping center you can get just about anything from the supermarket and drug store. Don’t miss the Saturday morning farmers’ market for fresh produce, breads, Kona coffee, condiments and crafts. But if you don’t feel like cooking, the highly rated Jameson’s Restaurant is right across the street and a very good fusion restaurant, Kenichi, is minutes away at the shopping center along with cafe and fast food options. There are many fish and ethnic restaurants within 5-10 minutes and a wonderful breakfast can be had at the Kona Country Club with a spectacular view up the Kona coast. The condo is decorated in a Hawaiian style with works by local artists. We supply “vacation read” books and other books and materials about Hawaii and Kona. We also have Hawaiian music tapes, videos, games and a closet filled with beach toys, boogie boards, beach mats and chairs, towels, coolers, and hats-all those things you’ll need but don’t want to cart with you from home.
Because our condo is back from noisy Ali’i Drive, we enjoy a more tranquil ocean view. The two bedrooms face out over undeveloped lands so that you can hear the peaceful sounds of the oceans waves as you fall asleep and awake to the songs of the birds. The concrete building also means virtually no noise from neighbors. Our large (27’) lanai is a great place to watch the sun rise over Hualalai with a cup of incomparable 100% Kona coffee, catch the sunset after a fun filled day, or dine al fresco and enjoy the balmy tropical evening. An evening dip in the pool is always great too.
Some days we just enjoy this beautiful spot. Other days we head off to all the many unique and interesting locations around the island: black and green sand beaches, rain forests, volcanoes, ranches, historical spots and botanical gardens. Our Kona location puts the best of the Big Island within easy reach. We’ve created a book that details some of these along with many other pamphlets and resources to enhance your outings. You have your own concierge!

Why the Owner Chose White Sands Village
Coming from Maine, we wanted to have a warm (but not hot) climate. We also love the Hawaiian culture and Aloha spirit and are willing to take the 10 hours of flying time from Boston to partake.
State recreation park with great tide pools for little ones, picnicking, sunsets and locals
Owner's Map of White Sands Village
We are a couple in our early 60's who love spending time in Hawaii. We hope this condo will be our main retirement home someday.

Would have been excellent if recycling had been on-site. Hawaii in general seems to be pretty primitive in this respect. Locks on the swimming pool gates mal-functioned. Like the location, condominium well furnished, beautiful pool and grounds, good location across the street from White Sands Beach. Great smimming pool with extra space in deep end, great barbeques that actually worked well, parking available for two cars, and the weather was fabulous.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

I stayed at the condo for one week. The location was perfect, with a great beach for swimming/boogie boarding across the street and snorkeling about a mile away (plenty of beach accessories supplied at the unit). The condo was pleasant and quiet, ideally situated away from the high tourist area, but with good accessibility to island attractions. The unit was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was well supplied - great for cookouts and dinner on the lanai!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
