The Mangy Moose offers a sugar-sand bottomed lake area, shallow for 50-60 yards. Quiet and private, this is one of only a few places on Lake Mitchell or Lake Cadillac that does not have a busy road running right behind the property. The cottage is located on a private cul-de-sac with an additional lot buffering it from the property behind.
Well maintained and immaculate inside offering a floor to ceiling field stone fireplace, open living room and dining room featuring entire wall of windows overlooking beautiful Lake Mitchell! Air conditioning is not necessary as the lake breezes and ceiling fans are prevalent. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms, each tastefully decorated, featuring high quality bedding and luxurious linens.
Master bedroom is located upstairs w/king size bed; master bath features a large walk-in terrazzo tiled and jetted shower as well as a heated floor; second and third bedrooms are downstairs each featuring a queen size bed and private bathrooms with showers; fourth bedroom is located upstairs and offers a bathroom with a tub and shower. The bedroom sleeps eight with one queen bed, 2 double bed/futons and 2 twin bunks.
Large 42 inch Flat Screen LCD TV offering cable with premium channels, wireless internet, eight person hot tub off the deck, a dock extending 160 feet out into the lake, water volleyball, Caribbean island lounger and a water trampoline.
The MANGY MOOSE CLUBHOUSE is a finished area above a detached 5 stall garage, and is GREAT for kids or adults of all ages! It contains a bunk bed with lower bed folding into a double, a couch, pool table, ping-pong table, air hockey, shuffle board, darts, cable TV, PS2 video games, and stereo. An abundance of blow-up air mattresses are available for additional sleeping. My son has had up to 10 friends stay up there! It is heated, furnished and available for a fee of $250 summer or $150 winter.

2 single KAYAKS, 1 double KAYAK and a PADDLE BOAT ($75/week for each item).
4 Adult MOUTAIN BIKES and 1 childs bike($100/week).

Lake Mitchell is 2580 acres in size and is connected to Lake Cadillac by a navigable canal, combining over 3700 acres of all-sports water fun! Many casual restaurants and eateries shore up to both lakes, offering docking for dining and/or drinks. Ice cream shops, party stores, and gas docks are also directly available by watercraft.
Like to hike or mountain bike? You will be surrounded by the Manistee National Forest boasting six-hundred thousand acres of pristine wooded wonderland! The Big Manistee, Little Manistee and Pine River (the fastest moving river in Michigan) are only minutes away. Fish the Tippy Dam, providing world class salmon, steelhead and trout opportunities. On a larger scale, the dunes of Lake Michigan located in Manistee are just a short drive away.
Winter activities abound! Cadillac is also the host site of the North American Snowmobile Festival. Snowmobile trails are accessible right from the front yard. Access these trails from Lake Mitchell, and you can sled directly onto the Lake from the front of the cottage. Downhill skiing at Caberfae is 15 minutes away, and Crystal is 35 minutes from the cottage. Cross Country ski in the surrounding woods or directly onto the lake. Excellent ice fishing can be had right in front of the cottage. Or, simply sit back and enjoy the quiet over a cup of hot chocolate and a crackling fire from your cozy abode!

This was the first time my family stayed at the Lodge, but I hope its not our last. We had a wonderful week. There were 15 people there at times, and everyone found a place to sleep. The club house was great for sleeping and playing games on the one rainy day we had. We fished, used the pontoon boat, and pulled the kids on tubes with the speed boat, the kids used the water trampoline, and the women used the water lounger every afternoon for "happy hour". We had bonfires every nite with s'mores, and the chairs provided were great. Alot of great memories were made in that week, for me as the grandma and stepmom it was a week to treasure. The grill was used often, the kitchen was a one person kitchen, but that worked out fine. Lots of tables and chairs outside and inside. Big couches, in the living room, very comfortable. Rode the mountian bikes with the grand kids. Had lots to do, to keep everyone as busy as they wanted to be. The manager of the cottage answered any questions we had, and was available if we needed help with anything. The cottage was clean and the beds very comfortable, nice thick towels for our use. Recommend it to anyone? Definitely, just please don't ask for the week I would like to have next summer!!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful time this year at the Mangy Moose Lodge. The home is beautiful and even nicer than described. The gameroom was perfect for the children and young adults and the lake is absolutely gorgeous. Truly a delightful location which made for a spectacular vacation. Just came back from our 4th year of enjoying the Mangy Moose. We have four families and each has their own bedroom and bath. The kids (4 ages 2-6) love the water and are able to play in the water by themselves as the water is not deep. As usual the cottage was clean and ready for use. The deck is the place to be. We ate all meals out there except for breakfast. We took the pontoon to swim at "sandy point" and to get ice cream. We get t-shirts made with a logo of some sort and take a picture of all of us on the deck. We are looking forward to next year. Thanks again John.Recommended for: Families with young children.

WE had a wonderful time at the Mangy Moose Lodge on Lake Mitchell. The house is beautiful. We enjoyed the gorgeous view of the lake, water amenities, deck, fire pit, and the clubhouse. The kids loved the water trampoline and paddle boat and pontoon which we rented. The kids also enjoyed several classes at the near by state park that you can access by boat through the canal to Lake Cadillac. The weather was beautiful. Several from our family also enjoyed fishing and caught a few fish. We loved the pontoon rides on the lake. The area is very nice.Recommended for: People with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The additional recreation package is a great way for you to see Lake Mitchell - the kayaks, paddle boat, pontoon, fishing boat and speed boat are all included in the package price - which is much less than you would pay for just a pontoon boat rental from the local marina. John & Laurie, THANK YOU for sharing your home. The house and lakefront setting are absolutely beautiful. Most of the pictures don't give the place justice. Having morning coffee on the deck and watching the sunrise was one of our many highlights. The Recreation package and water toys kept us all fully entertained. Even though it was nice that you gave us your phone #'s, everything worked great, so there was no need to call. We were very pleased with how well the kitchen was set up: EVERYTHING we needed... all the way down to corn-on-the-cob skewers! We did not use the clubhouse since our boys are only 7. As we were leaving, I asked my son, "What did you like best about the place"? He answered "EVERYTHING"!!! Which we ALL agreed with!. On the second day of our stay we were already talking and planning next years visit.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We just returned from our third year at Lake Mitchell. As usual the cottage is clean and ready for our use. The cottage is great for our four families as each has their own bedroom and bath. The lake is not deep for our little ones and John has water toys to play on. This cottage is especially wonderful for families with children (our grandchildren are under age 5). We throughly enjoy our week here.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

May, Sep $1950/wk, June 2150/wk, July-August $2495/wk Friday to Friday Rental Oct-April .. $300/night, 2 night minimum, each additional night $200. Deposit required to hold and $500 security deposit required prior to arrival. There is a $150 cleaning fee for all rentals. If you want to use the clubhouse (game room above the garage) there is a $250 fee for summer and $150 fee in the winter. About the owner: I grew up in the Cadillac area and appreciate it's natural beauty even more, now that I've moved to another city. I've always enjoyed the year round activities Cadillac offers! No matter the season you are never at a loss for something to do - hiking, biking, trail riding, swimming, skiing, wake boarding, tubing, fishing, hunting, shopping and so much more!

Our property is lakefront and located on a private drive away from the busy road which typically borders Lake Mitchell. We also offer additional amenities (available at an additional cost) such as the Clubhouse and the Recreation Package which includes kayaks, speedboat, pontoon, bikes and a paddleboat, too.
