Why the Owner Chose Alexandria

As I said, I lived in this house for many years and decided that I wanted to share the experience with people visiting Washington, DC. It is a short stroll through Old Town Alexandria, an enchanting historic seaport that was the home of George Washington until he moved south to that McMansion, Mt. Vernon. You can ride bikes along the Potomac River to our nation's capitol or take a 15 minute ride on the ultra-clean metro to the heart of DC. I have been blessed with the most considerate, appreciative and conscientious guests anyone could wish for. Not one has been disappointed in their experience. I am very appreciate!! I want each and every one of them to visit again!

The Unique Benefits at this House

My 1917 bungalow is in a lovely, very safe neighborhood of different styles of early 20th century houses. The neighbors are friendly and kind. Alexandria is very dog friendly place with dog parks and parks for kids very close by. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance along with riverside cafes and art galleries. The Torpedo Factory on the river, that is only a one and a half mile free trolley ride from the house, has been converted to artists studios open to the public. And just three blocks is the metro blue line that goes directly to the National Mall and Capitol building and all of the free museums and monuments. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Owner's Map of Alexandria

I currently live on a boat in the Potomac River in DC. I have views of the Washingon Monument and the Jefferson Memorial. I have invited several guests to the boat from time to time. I am only a mile from the Smithsonian and all that is Washington, DC.
I lived in my little bungalow, your vacation home, in Alexandria for many years. I love that house. It has a special aura and comfort that is indescribable. Its convenience to everything is as important as its charm. I know you will love coming home after a day of sightseeing, and relaxing in the back garden or the cozy living room. And I want to be certain that your visit is memorable.

    • LOCATION!LOCATION!LOCATION! This house was perfect for a family with a pet. We were able to walk to the Metro for easy access to just about anywhere in DC. Once we arrived we even found that we could walk to Whole Foods and Trader Joes!! Juli's house has everything you could ever need and then some. Our family was able to cook family dinners at the house and then enjoy a even walk with our pet in the neighborhood. This is a great neighborhood with local shops, restaurants and playgrounds. Juli not only welcomed us to her home she welcomed us to DC. We look forward to our next DC trip and to Juli's house!

I had asked these guests to write a review in this guestbook. Christine submitted this in the comment section of the reservation request after they had returned home and I thank her for it. " Juli, Just wanted to let you know what a great time we all had in DC and how much we enjoyed staying in your house. We especially enjoyed your backyard, it is absolutely lovely and was so relaxing. The commute into DC was so easy and convenient. We hope to come back one day, as there just wasn't enough time to do everything and was sorry we couldn't spend more time exploring Alexandria. It is a lovely town! Thanks for ensuring we were cool on those very hot days last week!"

    • Charming house in an ideal location. Close to all the best Old Town has to offer, but quiet enough to really relax. The house was very clean, and comfortable. Wonderful backyard/patio, perfect for reading one of the many books in the house. Great alternative to a stuffy hotel. Glad I found this site.

    • This truly felt like a "home away from home". The fantastic location, great neighborhood, cozy furnishings, fully stocked home made our lives so easy. No need for a car because the two Metro stations are nearby and there is a free King St. trolley in Old Town. Great restaurants nearby, plenty of info about DC and the surrounding area. Thanks for making our annual "girlfriend getaway" so great!

    • One could ask for no more in a vacation rental. The proximity to 2 stations makes it a convenient location, yet it is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful, lined with trees and populated by friendly families. Our family of 4 felt at home. The backyard is lovely, and the home itself is wonderfully furnished and comfortable! Juli overlooked nothing...She did such a wonderful job providing us with everything we needed (and didn't even know we'd need!). The only downside to staying here is that we were spoiled and will now have high standards when it comes to vacation rentals! We will be sure to seek out this property next time we plan a trip to the Washington DC area. Thanks, Juli!! ~Lydia and Paul and family Mountain View, CA
