Lake Eden Hideaway is a beautifully designed and built home, where the owners have really thought about their guests’ needs. It would be a superb place to hold a large family get-together. We had a fantastic week and the house more than lived up to our expectations. It is a real home-away-from-home. Exploring the lake on the kayaks provided was great fun and the crystal-clear lake water is wonderful for swimming, and surprisingly warm. The deck has lovely views and a real sense of being away from it all. Watching and listening to the wildlife was very relaxing and therapeutic: the loons were our personal favourites. Colleen was extremely helpful before, during and after our stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property if you are looking to stay in this area. A great place to have some quality family time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family spent our vacation in this fabulous home. This was one of the best vacation homes we have ever rented. It was truly felt like our "home away from home" for the week. The house had every amenity you could have asked for and it was deccorated beautifully. We spent the days down by the water fishing, swimming (our son loved jumping from the floating dock), kayaking and relaxing in the sun. The scenary was just breathtaking. We spent the nights down by the water by the fire while my son caught some of the biggest crayfish he has ever seen! The local hikes and waterfalls were amazing. Close to Stowe where we rented bikes for the day and enjoyed the Stowe Recreational Path. Lots of great little shops and restaurants to visit also. We were very sad to leave and will make a return trip in the future. Thanks for the great memories we made at Lake Eden!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a great way to reconnect with our grown children. The house is beautiful, roomy, and well-maintained. There are great hikes nearby (although the nearest mountain trail on Mt. Norris seems to have disappeared into a logging maze), fun things to do in Stowe, nice restaurants to frequent, as a well as a good grocery store for home bodies. Lake Eden is an attraction in itself. How relaxing to take a kayak out in early morning while the others are still waking up. The only negative we encountered was the inability to take multiple showers at once, probably because of the well water. This was a small matter for us, but it may bother some. Our week long stay at Eden Mills is a fine memory for our family.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

My only reservation in writing this review is that this incredible property will begin to book up too quickly before I can reserve space to get my family back there again. My families two biggest criteria in a get-away space were 1. that the place needed to be really nice and comfortable and yet not "museum-like" where you were afraid to touch anything and 2. we needed enough space where 2 aging grandparents, 2 married couples and kids ranging from 3 years old to 12 would not be on top of each other. What a goldmine we found on Lake Eden. An absolutely gorgeous house where the kids had the run of the lake and my aging parents had a first floor master suite connected to a huge country kitchen/living room and between the lake and the living area we all had the huge, wrap-around deck to hang out on all day long. Plenty of bedrooms, more than enough quiet reading space, secluded and yet an easy drive to Stowe, this property truly had everything. It was a "home-away" in every sense.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our family was the first to rent the property. It sort of turned into a family reunion. My grandparents were prominent members of the community in Eden years ago. George wright was the postmaster, owner of the General Store, and at one time a Vermont State Senator. My Uncle and Mother grew up over the Eden General Store. My grandfather actually owned much of the realestate around lake eden and built several of the camps that still exist today. my mother and uncle moved away. Then in the late 70's early 80's my grandparents retired to florida. Eventually we all moved to Florida. Over time my Uncle moved back to Eden, and many of us have trickled back up North to various locations. As my grandparents health faded the last few years, their deep seeded desire to move back to Vermont was more and more apparent. When they both passed away very close to one anothe my mother and uncle decided to bring George and Pat Wright home. We rented the property on Lake Eden and the setting and events could not have been better. We had several ceremnies, on the lake, and at the cemetery on cemetery road by the General Store. Afterwards we were able to relax on the lake with the kayaks, bonfires by the lake with smores, and just plain relaxing and meeting the tremendous amount of family and friends that most of us returning never knew. The cabin was perfect, and we could not have been happier with the ameneties. Everyone was comfortable, and happy both inside and outside. Thank you!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

My family rented this cottage for a week between Christmas and New Years 2009/2010. The cottage is everything you could ask for in a secluded lakefront setting. We went skiing at both Stowe and Jay Peak, about 30 minutes from each. The setting is quiet and beautiful. We cooked some great meals in the fully equipped kitchen as well as taking some evening trips into Montpelier and Barre for dinner and relaxation. This is about as good as you can do for a small family getaway.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We stayed here with our friends and family in October 2008 and couldn't have asked for a better property/location! It is a fabulous home on quiet Lake Eden -- a very serene setting. Enjoyed our mornings sipping coffee out on the porch overlooking the lake, quietly listening to music piped through the custom sound system... kayaking in the late afternoon... dinners and entertainment around the dining table... ... and the warmth of the fireplace in the evening. The owner handled our questions and reservation with incredible ease, and we experienced no issues with check in or check out. The house was very well equipped and we greatly appreciated the booklet prepared for renters with detailed information on local dining and attractions. Well thought out! Would recommend this great Lake Eden property to anyone! We look forward to a return stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We rented this place for a week and had an incredible family vacation. The house is very well equipped, exceptionally comfortable and the layout accomodated our party of 6 adults and 4 young kids surprisingly well. I have already recommended place to several people. The owners were great to work with. A++++ Would stay here again!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.
