The apartment is 45 square meters (approx. 500 sq. ft.) and half furnished with antiques. Fresh flowers and bottle of wine upon arrival; English speaking person will meet guests on arrival. Fully-equipped kitchen. Separate modern bathroom with 3/4 tub and hand shower; must go through bedroom to reach bathroom.
Entry is national historic landmark, formerly the hospital of St. Jacques de Compostele. No elevator but there is easy access (one flight of stairs) to this second floor apartment. ('second floor' as used here in American terminology means the same thing as 'first floor' in French terminology.)

We are two retired attorneys living and loving it in Paris. We practiced law in Tucson, Arizona, USA for 30 years and on our first visit to Paris fell madly in love with the city. Determined to move here someday, we worked diligently for several years and purchased this one-bedroom apartment.
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 1
We chose our particular neighborhood (First Arrondisement, Quartier: Beaubourg/Les Halles) for several reasons. The location is superb, in the heart of Paris within easy walking distance to Notre Dame, le Louvre, Centre Pompidou, banks of the Seine, etc., etc. The nearest metro stop is a short block away which leads to all of Paris. We love the liveliness of the neighborhood and the proximity of myriads of cafes, restaurants, small business establishments and one of the best food shopping streets in the city, la rue Montorgueil. A testimonial to our continuing love of the neighborhood was our decision to purchase our primary residence upon retirement in the building adjacent to the building in which this apartment is located. We are still surprised and delighted with new discoveries in the area.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
There are several unique benefits to staying in our apartment. You will be residing in an historical 300 year old building, restored in the 19th century making use of the original beams. The building was first utilized as a way station for pilgrims on route to St. Jacques de Compostele in northern Spain. Note the stone carving above the main entrance which is a classified french national monument. The apartment is completely furnished to a high standard including antiques, working fireplace, and modern amenities. The price is all inclusive, i.e., no extra charges for utilities, etc. We provide weekly housekeeping, fruit, fresh flowers and wine upon arrival. Bienvenue!
