Rick and I had a fantastic week at Volunteer Landing. The house was perfect for the two of us. We loved all the little extras such as the beach equipment, the swing underneath the porch, the close proximity to the beach and gulf. We only used the one bedroom with the king size bed and slept like a baby, very comfy! Doris was wonderful to work with via email and we felt at home there. Thanks so much. Tammy

Several of my family members stayed in this house while I personally stayed in Doris and Les's other house "Five O'Clock Somewhere" they had nothing but praise for this house. They loved the location to the beach and the views. Also, everything you needed for the beach was right there. We would stay there again!

This house is all about location! Located at the end of the road and the beginning of the bay in a small, quiet development, the house sits on a double white sand lot. It is exactly as described. 12 of us stayed here ranging in age from 6 to 55. The young’uns could be turned loose to play in the sand and the Gulf beach is a very short walk away. There was also a ‘beach’ area (without a bulkhead) where we were able to launch our canoe and kayak. Part of the Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge with many ‘bayous’ is just over a mile away via St. Andrew’s Bay. Like some other commenters, I had my reservations about fishing from the pier. There was no need for that. From about 11 PM until 3-4 AM, specks congregated every night we were there under the pier lights smacking at the bait fish. They could be a bit finicky but, with the right lure and patience, there was always enough for a good feed for our group. I was surprised by how many larger fish (18 + inches) there were although the smaller schoolies hit lures more readily. All members in our party had a great time and we are already planning our return trip.

My husband and I stayed at Volunteer Landing and had a lovely time. It's a neat little house. I especially appreciated all the beach equipment, so we didn't have to lug beach chairs and umbrellas from home. Doris is great to work with -- very accommodating, and ready to make your vacation perfect.

We stayed for the weekend of August 8-10th. We had a fantastic time and loved the house. It was very clean and just the right amount of space for our family of four. We felt like we had a home away from home. I hope that we can come and stay again soon. And my little fur babies loved it too!!!

We stayed at Volunteer Landing the week of June 23rd. Without a doubt, it was the best vacation we have ever had. The house was very cozy and equipped with everything we needed to make our stay feel like home. The beach was beautiful and only a short walk away. My husband and I really enjoyed the swing underneath the house. I have a 14 year old and a 3 year old and they both had a blast. The owners were wonderful to deal with. They even helped us plan all of our activities, so when we arrived we were already familiar with our surroundings. Volunteer Landing is a place you fall in love with. Thanks again Doris and Les!

My husband, 29 year old daughter, and I stayed at Volunteer Landing in June of 2008. We usually rent a condo in Gulf Shores but decided to try a house this year. This was certainly the best choice that we have ever made. This house was very nice and was so much more private than a condo. We grilled every night. There was plenty of beach products (rafts, umbrellas, chairs, etc.) in the shed. The short walk to the beach was a plus. The beds were very comfortable and Doris is a very nice person to deal with. I would recommend this house to anyone.

We stayed in Volunteer Landing for our Spring Break! It was absolutely wonderful! The house is cozy and close to the beach, and it was perfect to bring a dog along! The beach is only a short walk away and the view from the porch is lovely! We love Fort Morgan and hopefully we'll go back next year!

My teenage daughter (15) and (16) year old son loved this house. It was small but open which made it alot bigger than your first inpression. The walk to the beach was short and you could leave your things (umbrella, chairs) out on the beach over night and no one would bother it. The best thing is this part of the beach is no where near as crowded as Gulf Shores. My kids and I talked about getting a house that was directly on the beach but they loved this little house. We are looking forward to staying again sometime in July or August. Also very pet friendly beach.
