Mother's Day Perfection

Guest: Thoma (Portland Oregon)
Date of Stay: 05/11/12 Review Submitted: 05/13/12

We stayed at this house over Mother's Day weekend. It is a beautiful house with plenty of room. It is nicely furnished with comfortable beds, quality linens, adequately stocked kitchen supplies/tools, and several decks. It is even better than the photos. Our family will definitely want to stay here again and again.

Fantastic House, Great Location

Guest: NeverLetGo (MS)
Date of Stay: 05/06/12 Review Submitted: 05/10/12

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Capehaven. The house is very well equipped, from all kinds of kitchen items, condiments, spices etc,, to multiple TVs and balconies. Even though we stayed only 2 nights, the house quickly felt like a home as we took advantage of the stereo to listen to listen to CDs, the VCR to watch a movie and the well appointed kitchen to cook some feasts. We plan to make Capehaven our residence of choice whenever we are back in the area.

Wonderful family getaway

Guest: Doug (Yakima, WA)
Date of Stay: 04/18/12 Review Submitted: 04/23/12

My wife, kids and our two grand kids spent 4 nights and 5 days away and were blessed with a wonderful "home away from home" stay at Capehaven. We had 2 great sunny days, but even with the rain, we had a peaceful time inside the home and hot tub. We are planning on returning.

Wonderful stay at Capehaven

Guest: Pete (Issaquah, WA)
Date of Stay: 04/01/12 Review Submitted: 04/13/12

We had the pleasure of staying at this fabulous house for a week and absolutely loved it. It is clear that Bob and Sue take great pride in their home which was a bennefit for us. Everything was spotless upon arrival, first impressions are always important. We could tell right away that this was going to be a great vacation. The house had pleanty of room for us, 6 people, and had all the neccesary appliances and utencils. the view fromthe kitchen was wonderful. I loved watching the waves in the morning while eating breakfast at the bar. A very soothing way to start the day. The bedrooms were large and clean, beds were great. Then hot tub was such a treat and was well used. The house is perfectly located. A short drive to Cannon Beach and a short block to the great Arch Cape beach. The weather even was even nice to us, I would say a majority of our stay had sunshine, always a welcome treat on the Oregon coast. Bottom line is this house is fantastic and made our vacation special. We certainly would love to come back to Capehaven soon. Thanks Bob and Sue for sharing your wonderful house with us.

Owner response:Thanks Pete for the nice review. Yes, Sue and I do take pride in providing a place for our guests that immediately feels like home and has pretty much everything and perhaps more than most have at their personal residences. A point of clarification we would like to make is that our house is actually one house back from the ocean and (if you have a good arm)is only a stones throw away from the beach. It takes about 90 seconds to walk from the house to the beach. For those who may have young children it is perfectly safe to let them walk back and forth from the house to the beach alone. (We have no worries letting the grand kids venture back and forth) Yes it is a short drive to Cannon Beach and it is also a short drive south to Oswald State Park. Oswald State Park also has a beautiful beach (Short Sands)and is a very popular surfing spot. We feel fortunate to have a great spot on the Oregon coast and are thankful after owning this property for over 20 years to have finally built a place that is great to come to and share with family, friends and our guests. Thanks again and we hope to have you and your family back again. Regards Bob & Sue

The Perfect Getaway

Guest: Irina (Beaverton, Oregon)
Date of Stay: 03/30/12 Review Submitted: 04/02/12

Capehaven was all as was described in the listing. It was the perfect place to be during the stormy weather at the coast--inside a very comfortable, well-equipped and very clean home--looking out at the turbulent ocean. Our family had a wonderfully relaxing time, and plan to return again.

Owner response:As our previous guest commented, when the weather isn't conducive for outdoor activities, Capehaven is a great place to hang-out and enjoy the view of ocean and the waves crashing against Castle Rock. Thanks for taking the time to provide your review. Hope to have you back. Bob & Sue

Perfect get away!!!

Guest: Anne (United States)
Date of Stay: 03/27/12 Review Submitted: 04/02/12

I can't say enough about our wonderful stay at Capehaven. The weather was wet and wild, but we were more than comfortable in every way. The kitchen offered wonderful views of the waves crashing over Castle Rock while we cooked using the many utensils and pans made available to us. The house is clean, beautifully decorated and furnished with many, many thoughtful touches for renters in mind. We took advantage of the laundry room as we were quite wet after our walks on the beach. I would highly recommend this home for couples and families alike. I hope we are able to stay here again in the near future.

Owner response:Anne, So you caught one of those nasty weather times. The house was designed with the reality that the Oregon coast isn't always sunny with the light breeze they like show in the travel magazines. With that in mind, features such as the three large covered decks were designed with the house to provide some outside area that can be used rain or shine. Getting to the hot tub isn't bad during the rain either, with the large back deck just a few steps away from the covered hot tub. With the large laundry room just off the covered back deck makes it just that easier to deal with wet kids and adults. As you discovered even in the nasty weather you always have Castle Rock to watch get pounded by the waves as you sit at the kitchen island sipping a glass of your favorite beverage! Thanks for the compliments, we do try to keep the house fresh and nice. Thanks for taking the time to provide your review. Hope to hear from you again. Bob & Sue

Very nice, modern beach house

Guest: Lou (Portland OR)
Date of Stay: 03/24/12 Review Submitted: 03/31/12

We had a great spring-break family vacation at this house. It has a beautifully decorated, open, kitchen-dining-living room. It has a large, modern kitchen with a great ocean view. While the house is not ocean-front, it has a good view of the ocean and Castle Rock, which is the defining feature of the Arch Cape area. With binoculars, we could see sea lions hauled out on the rocks at the base of Castle Rock. The house has a great layout. The master bedroom is on the main level and is quite large, with its own tv, very nice master bath and walk-in closet. Also on the main floor is a very nice den with flat screen tv and computer desk, plus wifi. Two more decent size, nicely decorated bedrooms downstairs, along with a multi-purpose room, where the grandkids slept on an inflatable mattress. The house is well stocked with books, board games, kids toys, even a bin of Barbi dolls. Our granddaughers were always busy. Beautiful, comfortable, well supplied house, great view, it would be easy to settle in for a week or a month. Did I mention it is only a five minute drive to Canon Beach, a nice little beach town with great restaurants and shops.

A GREAT Beach House

Guest: Betsy (Springfield, OR)
Date of Stay: 02/16/12 Review Submitted: 02/22/12

Absolutely Wonderful Property. Every amenity planned for and owners have gone over and above extending the hospitality of sharing the beach experience. It houses six exceptionally well with three bedrooms which have wonderfully comfortable beds. Enjoying the gas fireplace while watching the storms was awesome! The only recommendations: The hide-a-bed for our 7th person could use a new mattress and a wish list for the computer would be to have a printer on site for printing boarding passes prior to leaving but that was the ONLY consideration. Try out the hot-tub! We will be back. Thank you! FYI-You must walk up stairs to the living area.

The best vacation rental EVER!

Guest: Rosie (Poulsbo, WA)
Date of Stay: 01/05/12 Review Submitted: 01/14/12

Capehaven is the BEST vacation rental we have ever experienced, by far, and one of many. The view and the sound of the ocean were really amazing, and the house itself met every one of our extremely high expectations. The creature comforts are many; the bed was most comfortable, the kitchen had every imaginable amenity, the decorating was delightful, and the walks on the beach were romantic. Additionally, arrangements with the owners were made professionally and efficiently; all questions were answered, and every detail attended to. We will definitely be back, and we will be telling our friends and relatives about Capehaven at Arch Cape!! Thank you so much!

Owner response:Thanks for the kind words Rose and Randall! We are so appreciative of our guests feedback. We are always looking to ways to make our guests experience at Capehaven one of, if not the best the have had with a rental. Again our goal is to surprise our "first time" guests, by providing a home that is a "cut above" the average rental home, with unexpected amenities that also happens to be in a very desirable location, and to provide all this at a very competitive rate. Thanks again, and we look forward to hearing from you and your friends. Warm Regards Bob & Sue

Post-Holiday Retreat

Guest: Lacey & Matt (Auburn)
Date of Stay: 12/27/11 Review Submitted: 01/02/12

Capehaven is a magical, warm and cozy home. Gorgeous - both inside and out, well beyond our expectations from the photos and reviews. One of our favorite areas was the view from the kitchen and we spent much time gazing out the windows in the late afternoon. We found the house extremely spacious for six adults with plenty of space to lounge and find comfort. The house was sparkling clean. There were many elements of surprise that provided the comfort of home - including a decorated Christmas tree!, flip flops at the door to borrow, and wireless internet to name a few. It was the perfect home to share our post-holiday retreat with our closest friends. We hope to return to Capehaven again someday soon. Thanks again Bob and Sue!

Owner response:Hi Lacey, We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Yes we take pride in providing those amenities that you just don't get with your usual a vacation rental. We strive to keep Capehaven fresh and are constantly changing it up, and keeping it current and interesting. Sue and I both enjoy doing this and are pleased when our guests acknowledge our efforts. We will continue to keep Capehaven "a cut above" Thanks for the kind words, and we hope to hear from you again. Bob & Sue

Owner response:Thanks Erin, We were glad to be able to accommodate you. So glad to hear that you had a great time and appreciated all the little amenities that you mentioned in your previous email. Great Getaway

Guest: Mark (Portland, OR)
Date of Stay: 12/02/11 Review Submitted: 12/05/11

Our time at Capehaven was nothing short of perfect. The house was easy to find, yet secluded enough to where all you could hear was the ocean waves crashing. This place easily fit 6 adults and was roomy enough to where we didn't feel crammed in at all. The home itself was beautiful. It was beautifully furnished, clean and came with everything we needed. With the exception of going out and walking along the beach in the morning and the afternoon, we never left the house. We were resolved to lounging around and just relaxing, playing board games, cooking, watching Christmas movies. I cannot tell you the last time I just kicked up my feet and read a book. The hot tub was such a bonus. Some of us were relaxing in the tub while others would be making s'mores in the fire pit right next to us. It was one of the best times I have I had with friends in a long time. I would like to extend my thanks to the owners, Bob and Sue, for providing such a cozy and relaxing environment. I would recommend your place to anybody, except for when I want to rent from you guys first =)

Owner response:Thanks Mark for the kind words. We are so happy that you enjoyed Capehaven. Even though our beautiful beach is just 90 second walk away, we frequently hear from our guests that they enjoyed the house so much that they ended spending more time inside, or using one of the 4 decks,in the hot tub or using the fire pit than they would have thought. We are fortunate to have Capehaven located at the end of a quiet dead lane, and as you say, can only hear the sound of the ocean. Capehaven does have a great location. Thanks again, and we hope to hear from you again! Bob & Sue

Steps from the beach with miles of walking room and great views. Arch Cape is beautiful, quiet and close to whatever you may need to settle in for your stay. Great kitchen with great views of the waves. We hope to return.

This house has everything you need for a completely relaxing stay at the beach. The owners have put loving care into every detail. They even have warm water plumbed outside so you can rinse off after a swim in the ocean without using freezing cold water! The home is comfortable and elegantly furnished, with an open design and large, well-appointed kitchen where you can cook with a view of the ocean. We will be back next summer!

70th Birthday Celebration

Guest: David and Wilma (Indiana)
Date of Stay: 06/27/11 Review Submitted: 07/08/11

Our families from Indiana. Michigan and Oregon came here to celebrate a 70th birthday. The view was absolutely stunning, the beach perfect for enjoying family time, and the lovely, well-maintained, spotless accommodations provided comfort and attention to any need that one could contrive. The owners were prompt in replying to our questions in a most congenial manner as well. Our treasured memories of our stay at Capehaven will be with us always. Thank you!

Owner response:Thank you David and Wilma for choosing to stay at Capehaven for your special occasion. We frequently have guests who stay for that special "girls only", "family gathering", "Birthday" or "Special Friends" occasion. Most of our guests have been pleasantly surprised when they arrive to find that the house, amenities and location to be better than the pictures and their expectations. We would rather understate and have our guest pleasantly surprised than to oversell the house etc. and have disappointed guests. Thanks again for choosing to stay at Capehaven and perhaps you will have another reason in the future to celebrate and return. Happy Birthday! Bob & Sue

We had a wonderful birthday celebration at Capehaven. The house is amazing and we especially enjoyed the art touches. We will recommend Capehaven to our friends. Our whole immediate family was there...ages 2 to 88! Thanks for sharing your beautiful well maintained home with excellent amenities.

Owner response:Thanks David & Sharon What coincidence! Two Capehaven birthday parties in a row! As others have mentioned Capehaven is a great gathering spot for families celebrating a birthday or family reunion. However, with the covered hot tub outside, surrounding and connecting decks with tiki light ambiance, and inside with the specialty lighting and built in sound system, it is equally great for that romantic get-away. Thanks again, and we welcome your friends. Bob & Sue

A Lovely Retreat

Guest: Amelia (Washington)
Date of Stay: 04/26/11 Review Submitted: 05/03/11

The house was perfect. They've really thought of everything: in floor heating, sound system throughout the house, an intercom, a cozy deck on every corner, a fully stocked kitchen, plus movies to watch, and toys for the kids to play with on rainy days. We'd love to go back.

Owner response:Thanks Amy, Much thought went into the design of the house and the extras that were added that you won't normally see in a beach house. We like to have our first time guests pleasantly surprised when they first arrive with design, decor and the extra amenities. Our goal is to make our guests "get a away" experience that much more enjoyable. Good to hear you enjoyed your stay and we hope to hear from you again. Bob & Sue

Even with the weather rainy, windy and cold in January ( as it should be ), we had a wonderful beach weekend with the whole family! Priceless. It was great to experience the ocean in it's winter element. From our balconies we could watch and hear the crashing waves and see the misty views, making the fireplace and heated floors feel even more cozy. We stayed 3 wonderful nights at Capehaven, and every attention to detail had been thought of, from the popcorn machine to the array of music and reading material, we never wanted to leave the house! We would definetly recommend this home to anyone who wants a beach vacation with ALL the comforts of home. Thanks Bob

Owner response:Thanks Tom, We're glad that the you and your family enjoyed the house. Yes, the Oregon Coast does not have Arizona weather, but we try to make up for that in other ways. Hope you can make it back some time! Thanks Bob & Sue

Our long weekend in September was wonderful. Three couples (our 2 sons and their wives and one 9 month old granddaughter) and a great time at Capehaven. It is a beautiful and well equipped home. It was clean, well maintained and even better that the photos show. Very spacious for our group and a spectacular view of the ocean. We walked on the beach, explored Cannon Beach and Seaside and even roasted marshmellows one evening at the campfire pit on the beach. All of us want to return next summer and maybe have a longer stay. I very highly recommend it.

Amazing House

Guest: Happy Vacationers (Yakima, Wa)
Date of Stay: 07/25/10 Review Submitted: 08/25/10

For the past 8 years my family has rented many houses from Manzanita to Cannon Beach. This property by far was the nicest house that we have rented. It's amazing that the Low's are so generous to let people come stay in their lovely home. It was a very short walk to the beach were the Low's have created an intimate place for families to enjoy a fire. The house was exceptionally clean and had many amenities above and beyond the normal rental. The beds are very comfortable and the set up of the house lets families enjoy a peaceful area to read, along with a den that you can close off to enjoy a movie with your loved ones. This will definately be a house that we will return to. I highly reccomend this property to all looking for a great place to vacation.

WOW! was my response as I woke up and gazed out the kitchen windows seeing the morning light reflect off the ocean. Not only was I impressed with the view and the easy access to the beach but the house was warm, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. Sue and Bob have collected many wonderful art pieces that are interesting and artfully placed in the roomy house. Their attention to detail and tasteful decorations make the home a pleasure to be in regardless of the weather or time of the year. The home is in an ideal location in a quiet and friendly neighborhood between Manzanita and Cannon Beach. I would highly recommend this home as it is truly a cut above and a very good value for your vacation dollar.

Owner response:Thanks for noticing, Sue gets most of the credit for decorating. However, we both appreciate art and try to integrate pieces into the beach house for others to enjoy. We will contine to have the beach house evolve and stay fresh for our guests and ourselves. Thanks for the kind words. Bob & Sue

We looked long and hard for a nice house to rent at the beach and were so happy to find this one. Capehaven is outstanding! From the one-year-old, who loved the books, toys and rocking chair just her size, to our 80-year-old mother who enjoyed waking up to the ocean view from her bed and the spacious walk-in shower, our family group was thrilled with this home. The huge ocean view from the kitchen, dining room and deck, where we spent plenty of time cooking, offered a better view than several oceanfront homes we saw nearby. Very clean and cared-for, the house is designed to take advantage of light from every direction and open windows result in nice ocean breezes and wave crashing sounds. The three queen beds were all comfortable, with very nice sheets, pillows and blankets and there were plenty of luxurious towels, a well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable, attractive furniture. The little couch in the big laundry room, turned toward the wall, made a great crib. We enjoyed the sound system, heated floors, the nice deck furniture and the peace and quiet. The beach was easily accessible. We won't ever forget watching the ocean while eating our lunch of salad and mussels, fresh from the Arch Cape rocky outcroppings (that was a first!), and our time with family. Thank you Bob and Sue.

12 crazy Bunco ladies just got back from a wonderful weekend here! What a gorgeous home and the owners were so easy to work with! We brought 2 extra twin air mattresses because we weren't positive of the sleeping arrangements and everyone's comfort level but there was plenty of room for all of us! Also plenty of bedding and towels. Amazingly, the hot water heater kept up with us all weekend! A very nice little neighborhood on a dead end street with easy access to the beach. We found NINE whole sand dollars one morning! This home truly felt like a "home away from home" with everything you could possibly need!

Our Book Group has rented homes on the Oregon coast for the last 15+ years. Three of us decided to get away for a few days in the middle of the week. We have pretty high expectations regarding our beach houses. We all agreed this house was one of the best with regard to layout and furnishings. The view was gorgeous (we had two summer sunny days in February) especially from the incredibly comfortable bench at the end of the trail to the beach! The owner was easy to work with when we had a change of plans at the last minute. We will certainly recommend Capehaven to friends and family.

Capehaven restores your soul with its beautiful furnishings, practical layout, lovely selection of music, and amenities that befit a world-class residence. You will love every minute of this vacation abode lovingly designed and decorated by those who show their love for the Oregon coast in every vista. More like a high-end hotel than a "beach house", Capehaven is the most beautiful home we have ever visited. Our family treasured our too-short time together with lots to do and see but still loved just hanging out with each other on the decks, in front of the fire, or watching the waves crash on the coast. We vow... we will return!

This is a fantastic place! Very clean. We had a large group and still felt very comfortable in this home. The rooms are great! They have truly thought of everything. We will stay again next year!

2 other families (total of 10 people) stayed at Capehaven with us for a long weekend - it was WONDERFUL! There was plenty of room for people both to have quiet time as needed, and for several people to be together at the same time - beautifully appointed Capehaven handled it well. The kitchen, master bathroom, and views (ocean and garden) were especially nice. I'm looking forward to going back :-)

My husband and I took our two children and their families, 11 in all. We had last-minute jitters about having enough room, so threw in a couple sleeping bags. Let me say: NOT needed! Ample room to spread out, with each couple having their own bedroom, and the kids had enough comfy beds, too. The home is beautiful and maximizes the view- I did all the cooking(my insistence!) and it was a pleasure to work in the kitchen. On one side I enjoyed my brood enjoying each other's company, and on the other, a spectacular view of the Pacific! And the beach was fun, too, collecting sand dollars and exploring the caves. We had to spend one afternoon at Seaside doing all the touristy things, and my husband took a couple kids to the Tillamook Air Museum and Creamery. All in all, just the perfect long weekend- we even had sunshine!

Our family from Kansas City, Panguitch and Portland had one of our best vacations ever and most of it was based on your beautiful, comfortable and spacious home. There was eight of us. We cooked most evening meals in as the kitchen is such a delight to work in and we had the added bonus of watching the waves and whales from the massive windows in the kitchen. The beach, where our six year old granddaughter found so many treasures, was almost like having a private beach and we enjoyed the quiet and solitude of Capehaven. Oh to hear and see the ocean from the MBR again - magical. We will return and want to thank you for sharing such an unbelievably beautiful home with us.

Capehaven is much more than we expected! This new home offered amenities that we had never experienced: beautiful heated wood floors with individual thermostats in Every room, a stereo system with speakers to send music throughout the entire house with volume controls in Every room, and amazing lighting throughout the house with dimmer switches for Every light fixture. Combine all of these features together and you can really set the mood for a romantic getaway. The house was definitely custom built with comfort in mind, and Bob and Sue have decorated it to give you the feeling of really being at home. If you're looking for great places to dine while you're visiting Cannon Beach, we have a few suggestions: "The Lazy Susan" is a great little place for breakfast--be sure to try their gingerbread waffles! Note that they're closed on Tuesdays, which we found out the hard way. Also be sure to try "Cranky Sue's" for a gourmet dinner and great little atmosphere. I'd recommend starting with her appetizer sampler (coconut shrimp, pan fried oysters and crab puffs), and if nothing else, save room for her homemade brownie sundae! If you find yourself craving crab pizza, they have a great little gourmet place downtown called Pizza a'fetta that makes a great pie. Should you find yourself looking for some good happy hour eats in Seaside, try McKeown's on Broadway (closer to 101 than the beach). Their fried artichoke hearts are delicious. If you find yourself just wanting to stay in, the house has a great kitchen with all the utensils and cookware you would ever need. Friends of our family recently sold their vacation home in Lincoln City, but I think we've found a more than adequate replacement at Capehaven. We think Cannon Beach is hands down the best beach on the Oregon Coast and "Capehaven" is hands down the best place to stay! My wife and I are looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you Bob and Sue!!

A quick note to say that we had a wonderful time at Capehaven. The house truly exceeded our expectations! It is beautifully decorated -- colors, furniture, etc... the owner spared no expense. Great views and location. We loved cooking in the gorgeous kitchen. When there, you don't feel like you're in a rental... it feels like a home. Thanks Capehaven... we'll be back again. Capehaven is gorgeous. This is by far the best house we have rented. Our family of four business people, two teachers, and two of the most delightful 2 year old girls had a restful, happy time. My son was smart enough to bring a baby gate to secure the top of the stairs. The path to the beach is just a few yards away for unlimited wave chasing and splashing in tide pools. Thanks!!

This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The house is incredible and it is a three minute walk down a beautiful path to the beach. The beach is very secluded and not crowded. There are a number of areas to expore tide pools. Arch Cape is in a great location that is accessible to a number of areas. I will certainly be staying in Capehaven again!

OUR STAY WAS PERFECT!!! We absolutely loved your home. And it was very clean. We were actuaully suprized that you're willing to share such a beautiful home with strangers. We are planning another reunion next year and want to stay at your house again. I'm curious though. I have a degree in architectural studies, specializing in interior design and I can really critique any building I've been in (including my own home). But your home is flawless. I just have to say that the house is one of the best-planned, built, and furnished homes I've ever been in. You've done an excellent job and should be very proud. Thank you for letting us stay in your home. We hope to stay again next year. Thanks again, Vera
