This year it was 5 adults and 8 kids. The kids enjoyed fishing off the piers and playing in the water on the small beach by the house. The adults enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset from the deck. I would recommend this home because it close to the beach and lots of other activities but far enough away from the crowds to have plenty of available beach space.
Owner response:Thank you Germaine! So glad you and your family had a great holiday weekend! Thank you for the good review of our home. We value you and appreciate you as a repeat guest! Thanks so much and I hope you will return to "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". Have a GREAT summer! Doris & Les Stiers

We had a wonderful time. I came with my three children and my Mom. It was so peaceful and quiet. The kids loved playing in the yard and walking the short walk to the beach. My Mom and I loved sitting under the deck in the wonderful breeze. We saw dolphins swimming in the bay and the ocean. Ms. Doris was so helpful and kind to us. We loved it...and would love to come back

Our stay of 3 days at this location was much too short. We enjoyed the kayaking, the crabbing the sunrises and sunsets, but the fishing was what impressed us the most. The first night we were fortunate to be standing on the pier in the middle of a 300 foot feeding frenzy. The water absolutely churned with trout feeding on the bait fish that had come to the lights. We caught and released an insane amount of fish. The second and third nights were slower and we only caught and released about 20 trout per night, with several running from 16 to 20 inches. Of course, the big one got away and my wife said that I lost it on purpose so I would not have to say she out fished me. The truth of the story is that it was way to big for our landing net (which we had landed 20 inchers with). If you like fishing, this is the place. Our hosts were gracious and made sure everything was suitable to us. Oh, by the way, when you come, don't forget the BIG landing net.

This was our second year to stay at this house, and we have booked it again for next year.We have teenagers and they loved it.Our yellow Lab loves making the trip too, she loves the wrap around porch. The house is well maintained, We loved the new tile floor. The view's are wonderful, I could sit for hrs just watching the huge cargo ships going in and out of Mobile Bay. We fished 24/7 on the lighted 315 ft pier. We caught lots of Red Fish, Specks , Sheepshead, White Trout. The fish cleaning station came in handy at the end of each day- This place has it all- Great house, fishing, furnishings, big lot with lots of sand for the kids. The owners are super nice and we enjoyed our conversations with them. So much history is this area and we can't wait to get back down. John & Patti- Huntsville, Al

We stayed in this house 8/14/09 - 8/22/09. The only way I can describe it is AMAZING!!! We caught fish all day everyday right from the pier. We caught trout, red fish, croaker, flounder,a stingray and I personally caught a 3 foot approx 50 lb. Black Drum from the pier (I can email photo's) We had all the crab you could eat even stone crab claws. You can use a cast net from the shallow beach areas around the house and catch shrimp and bait fish. I have never seen anything like it. Dolphins out the window almost every morning. When we go again we will not plan any outside excursions so we can really enjoy the full potential of this house. The house has character and you can tell after you have been there a week that it sits proudly there on the water and boasts a sort of "this is my kingdom and all the fish gather to me feel" This house is away from all the tourist and most of the people around you actually live there. If you like to fish there is no way you could be disappointed. I can't wait to go back!

My family and several relatives and friends stayed for 6 nights. We all had an awesome time. The boys (ages 7-12) we just turned aloose and they stayed busy the entire time fishing, crabbing, playing in the sand, catching bait and mullet with the cast nets, catching hermit crabs, playing football, volleyball etc. We caught a lot of white trout, ground mullet. The place was very comfortable and relaxing. We cannot say enough about Mr. Les & Ms Doris they are wonderful. We will surely try to stay again.

This is a great place- Fully stocked kitchen. Our teenagers loved this place.Lots of room- We can not say enough about the fishing- Both piers were lighted we caught fish until we were to tired to catch anymore. Specks, Red Fish, Flounder, White trout and sugar trout. Cleaning station came in handy,We took our boat down and went out to the oil rig and caught huge Sheepshead. My wife is an avid fisherman and caught her 1st Flounder, it had a heavy fishing line wrapped around it's body for quite sometime and it had deformed the fish. After we took pictures She decided this one needed to be released due to its hard life.It was also pet friendly and we took our well mannered Lab- she loved the wrap around porch and walked round and round. The area was quiet, Just a beautiful place on Mobile Bay. We were so impressed we have already booked it for next spring. Great Fishing! John & Patti Citrano

My family and I stayed in the house for three days in October. It was by far the most enjoyable vacation any of us ever had! I got an inshore Slam off the pier on October 25th, a redfish, a big flounder and a big speckled trout. The house is beautiful, the view is spectacular and as Arnold Schwarzenegger said in "The Terminator"... I'll be back!

REPORT LONG OVERDUE!!!! Over the last five or six years we have been looking for that perfect vacation rental. Seems like we would get close but never quite "there". We were looking for "our location" - a little distance from the crowds and wall-to-wall condos....but not so far that a nice dinner and WalMart is a minimum four hour excursion! Then there is the size thing - we often vacation with a couple of other families and can't get a place that is spacious enough to be comfortable and still within our budget. Another plus is the view....or I should say "views" ! The bay view is unobstructed and uncluttered - very nice from the living room bay windows....and even better from the back deck with a cup of coffee at 6 a.m. :-) The deck is a 360 and unlike some houses - you will NOT arrive to find one or more views are the nail heads of the next-door-neighbor's siding. You have a nice distant Gulf view, as well. Now for the important part! I took the sales pitch about the fishing pier being "the best location on the bay" with a grain of salt. Not skeptical...just not getting my hopes up. I've been disappointed before. So..... Our trip was April 26 - May 3 and I could only join the group for the latter part of the week. My teenage son called me Sunday night describing the fish they were seeing and catching under the lights. I think he was just trying to tease and tempt me - and it was working. I began to be hopeful that maybe this was not just a sales gimmick. Monday night I called hoping to hear more, but the days activities pre-empted fishing. Tuesday I worked all day...drove all night....and arrived in time to sleep about 45 minutes before leaving for an inshore fishing trip Wednesday morning. It was a good day fishing and being exhausted, I didn't make a serious effort on the pier until after dinner - and that was only to satisfy my curiosity. In less than an hour, I had caught two keeper speckled trout and way too many sweet trout. Thursday night was much better - I had slept - and I changed my tactics and techniques. I limited out on the specks and released quite a few undersize. I also "released" two keepers because the landing net was about 12" too short. Lets not talk about the one that wouldn't come to the top of the water..... :-( Friday night was extremely windy and being busy packing up, I didn't get in much fishing. I did manage four or five "just barely" keepers on the last of my live shrimp. I must say this was the best fishi

My husband and I stayed in here May 2008. It is the best of both worlds, you can fish and you also have the beach across the street. My husband caught RedFish, Flounder and Trout off of the pier. They have a great setup to clean fish outside. We have been going to Gulf SHores for 20 years and this is by far the best location we have found.

My family and two other families recently stayed here and we absolutely loved it. There were six adults, five children and two teens all in this house. It was plenty of room, the kids loved being able to fish and play in the sand. My husband caught a lot of fish and in fact I caught two speckle trout all on my own which is a huge victory for me LOL. Our experience was awesome the couple who owns the house were friendly, professional and made us feel like family. If you’re considering staying here you defiantly should my family and our friends are defiantly coming back. God Bless,Minnie Malmay

This house is perfect for a week away. The view of the bay is spectacular and the two fishing peers are perfect for catching fish or setting the crab traps. With the ocean right across the street, you will never run out of things to do. The owners are the nicest I have dealt with, I would definitely recommend this house to anyone.
