Location: Hudson, Hudson Valley, New York, USA
Accommodations: Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-5)
Keywords: Cottage
Designers own completely renovated year-round getaway cottage on a quiet country road. The sun filled one-level, 2 bedroom, 2 full bath, house is situated on over 3 acres of open fields which provide sublime vistas of the surrounding protected farmland and forest. Enjoy the amazing sunsets as you relax on the large deck overlooking a meadow and meandering creek. In the warmer months, cook dinner on the charcoal BBQ grill and dine alfresco under the wisteria-covered pergola. In the winter, sit by the fireplace in the great room and relax from a day of fun in the snow. As evening approaches, drive 8 minutes to the thriving town of Hudson, pick up your houseguests at the Amtrak station, and head out for a dinner at one of many wonderful restaurants.
The great room, with cedar walls and vaulted ceiling, has 12 large windows and a glass door that opens out to the deck. In the summer/spring with all the windows open wide, and screens in place, the room becomes an elegant screened-in porch. This room also serves as the dining area, with a large, round slate table that easily sits 6 to 8. The daybed, situated in a corner of windows, easily converts to a twin bed.
One who loves to cook created the kitchen. It contains a stainless steel refrigerator and dishwasher, a Viking gas range and range-hood, stainless steel shelves and an antique butcher block island. A coffee maker, toaster, and all utensils and cookware necessary to cook a gourmet meal are provided. There is dishware and silverware service for 10. In the warmer months, four superb farm stands are within a 5-minute drive.
In the living room, there is a full size couch, a large coffee table, and two matching chairs. There is an antique Japanese tansu that holds board games and additional storage.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, bedside tables and reading lights, a full hanging closet and antique Japanese tansu for clothing storage. A glass door leads out to the back deck. The contemporary en suite master bath has limestone floors and a large soaking tub.
The guest bedroom has a twin trundle bed (which converts to either two twins or a queen), a full hanging closet for clothes, and is just around the corner from the full guest bath in the hall.
The deck has a table with four chairs, two Adirondack chairs with footrests and two wood chaises with cushions.
The house is 2 hours from NYC, 10 minutes from the Taconic Parkway.
The Amtrak train trip from New York’s Penn Station to Hudson is exactly 2 hours.

The house was just as descibed, wonderfully welcoming. The house was very clean, all the supplies in kitchen you would need to cook a meal. The bathrooms were spectacular! The views from the back desk were great, very peaceful and relaxing. The location is very central to all areas of the Hudson River Valley, able to drive to all the attractions, Arne had a great book with restaurants, sights to see, tips for the area. I would recommend this home to anyone!! Arne is a great communicator, available to answer any questions.

I rented the Hudson Cottage for the month of April and I had the most amazing stay. The house is very clean, with a well appointed kitchen and comfortable beds/bedding. It has an excellent set up for enjoying cold and rainy days inside next to the fireplace and great set up for enjoying warmer spring and summer days outside on the deck overlooking a meandering stream - a picture perfect country setting for a bbq, reading, relaxing, writing, playing, etc. The location to town is excellent - lots of great places to eat, grab coffee, get groceries - convenient to the Amtrak which is an easy 2 hour train ride to NYC. It is also central to all of Hudson Valley - most attractions no more than an hour away. I would stay here again and hope to! Dealing with the owners was a great pleasure - they were both absolutely professional and extremely helpful with any questions or logistical issues with the house. I recommend this cottage to any family, couple, or single traveller looking to explore Hudson Valley!

I recently stayed at Arne and Charles' place in Hudson and, let me tell you, you will not find a cleaner, better situated, more tastefully decorated rental home anywhere. The interior of the house has an incredibly positive energy, probably because every object and furnishing has clearly been chosen by someone with a passion for design. The setting, with fields, rivers and farms out every window, is breathtaking; it is hard to believe that you are only five minutes from the center of town. Arne was vey helpful with restaurant and antique store advice. He makes you feel like a treasured house guest even though you've never met him. Anyone who stays here is very lucky indeed. I cannot wait to go back.

As stated by all of the other reviewers - this is far and away the most incredible place I've ever stayed in Hudson. I am from Hudson and most of my family still lives there. I rent often and there is no question in my mind that this will be the first place I check availability before I visit. I dare say I would even plan my trips around their availability because I don't want to stay anywhere else! The attention to detail and organization of the home is unparalleled. I rented the house with my two young children and husband. It was perfect for the kids because there are no stairs. My daughter and husband went sleigh riding everyday and built snowmen, while the baby and I stayed cozy by the fire. I did have a few questions for Arne and he always responded immediately - even while vacationing himself! The house, as well as the owners, is amazing. I look forward to renting from Arne and Charles again.

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

This is the go to place my wife and I come to when we want to leave the city and get some real relaxation and catch up on some needed sleep. It's super immaculate; everything in the house is well taken care of and chosen carefully to make you feel extremely comfortable. The linens are soft, the colors of the house are warm and inviting and the space is very well thought out. What's so great about this place is the kitchen. The both of us are cooks, so coming to a house with a beautiful spacious kitchen where you can cook virtually anything you want as well as having an assortment of pans makes an even more romantic weekend than we imagined. The house is very close to some great nearby farms and attractions. Overall, one of our favorite spaces in the Hudson Valley!

Our Home Away From Home

We cannot say enough about this charming house, which we have considered our home-away-from-home for the past three years that we've rented here (for weeks and months at a time). The location, on a quiet, beautiful country road, is sublime, and Arne & Charles have made sure that no detail has gone overlooked, from the fully stocked, modern kitchen to the full bathrooms to the beautiful bedrooms stocked with fresh, lovely linens. This is a wonderful home for a family (we have a 15-month-old baby), two couples, a group of friends, etc. Not to mention, the location is unparalleled: just five minutes into Hudson, with its amazing antiques shops, restaurants, boutiques and more. Plus there are so many amazing farm stands and markets nearby -- we are huge fans of Holmquest and Eger Brothers. And Arne and Charles are attentive, generous homeowners...should you have any issue (you likely won't), they will tend to your needs immediately. We've rented many homes in the New York area, but this is unquestionably our favorite. Thank you, Arne & Charles!

A perfect cozy get-away

I recently stayed at the Hudson House on Fingar Road with my new husband for a quick get-away immediately after our wedding. The house is beautifully appointed and full of nice and functional design elements that make for a wonderful escape. The kitchen is top-of-the-line, and so I would recommend a stay especially for vacationers who like to cook. For those who are less interested in cooking, there were more appealing restaurants than we could visit during our stay in the center of town just a short drive away. In the warmer months, there's a bit of land to explore out back and a creek to sit by while reading a book or chatting. The small center of Hudson also has a great bookstore/cafe, many antique and home furnishing stores, and an art movie house that plays films thursdays through sundays. The owners of this property were kind, helpful, and accessible. I would certainly recommend a stay at this home to my own friends and family. We are likely to go back ourselves!

My friend and I spent a lovely fall weekend at this delightful cottage. This was our first time renting a home on VRBO and the experience exceeded our expectations. The owners were very gracious and helpful and it felt like we had borrowed a friend's place for the weekend. We had everything we needed at our disposal and really appreciated the well stocked kitchen, especially the top of the line appliances and cookware. We had everything we needed to cook all the great local produce we bought at several farm stands nearby. The property is beautiful, peaceful and private and the cottage itself is very comfortable and beautifully designed. It's obviously a home that the owners have lovingly furnished and they really have thought of everything. We can't wait to return!
