Watch moose as they graze the plum thickets on the river's edge down the Colorado River Valley above Grand Lake. Walk a few steps from the cabin and try your fishing skills on a ½ mile stretch of semi-private river. The house is a Classic Colorado Cabin with all the modern conveniences, new furniture and appliances. Our cabin is nestled on over an acre of land to ensure private quiet enjoyment of the majestic mountain and river views where all that can be heard is the rumbling of the river. Located in a private gated community with semi-private fishing access out the front door, semi private access to Shadow Mountain Lake Fishing/Boating thru a easement about a mile from the cabin. Snowmobile access 1/2 mile away.

Wrap around deck on three sides with wonderful views of the river. NEW Vermont Castings BBQ Grill. Or travel over to our easement on Shadow Mountain Lake and enjoy a picnic on the lake.

We are located only five minutes to the town of Grand Lake or Rocky Mountain National Park. Elk, Moose, Deer, and Fox frequent our lush property

Upstairs, the large master bedroom sleeps two on a queen bed. The adjacent bedroom sleeps 2 more on a queen bed. The two bedrooms on the first floor, adjacent to the game room, each sleep up to 4 on a queen/full bunk bed. An air mattress can sleep an additional 2 in the living room. We have a game room with a pool table on the first floor with a large bath with a tub on the first floor. The mater has a ¾ bath and there is an additional full bath on the second floor. Our kitchen is fully stocked with all you will need to cook with including a modern old fashion looking stove. This is a beautiful log/log sided cabin in the tall pines.

Grand Lake, a historical old west town, is only about 4 miles from the cabin and is located adjacent to the largest natural lake in Colorado. Bumper boats, go-cart racing, mini golf, guided horseback riding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ice fishing, shopping and dining are just a few of the things to do in Grand Lake. The Grand Lake Golf Course is challenging and is one of the most beautiful in Colorado.

VRBO Bear stayed here - 02/24/2009 My first impression of “The River House” at Grand Lake was WOW! The absolutely beautiful home right on the Colorado River was even more spacious than anticipated. The roomy four bedrooms were well furnished and from top-to-bottom, the home was updated with beautiful fixtures, lovely cabinetry, leather couches and hardwood and tile flooring. We also had plenty of room to park 3 trucks and a small snowmobile trailer (not something you usually find at a mountain home). For dining in, the kitchen was more than accommodating. It was professionally decorated with a gorgeous antique-like stove/oven. The new appliances, including the stainless steel refrigerator, made it as “easy as home” to cook up a good supper for the crew.

The breathtaking mountain view with a short walk to the river made this home that much more appealing. The quiet serene community was like the cherry-on-top of the sundae. The wrap-around porch made it easy to enjoy the fantastic mountain and river views from any direction – not to mention the awesome pictures we took from the porch. After a day of sledding (which the kids did right behind the house on a great hill) and snowmobiling (only 10 minutes away) in the scenic Grand Lake area, we enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace in the cozy living room. The huge glass table in the dining area worked well for card and board games while the game room- equipped with pool table, ping pong table, and darts- kept the kids away from video games (for most of the time).

The drive to town was only a few minutes (perfect for those that want to be out-of-town but not too far from civilization) which made it convenient for an afternoon of bowling at the quaint eight lane bowling alley. Plenty of shopping and dining options were available and the barbeque at Sagebrush was delicious. This “bear” highly recommends you stay at “The River House” at Grand Lake.

    • The River Haus was as beautiful as the pictures suggest. Very clean and tastefully decorated. The wrap around deck offered beautiful views of the mountains. Overall a great place! Made a very special family vacation. Note: The antique stove, though quaint, is smaller than standard size (made it challenging to cook a turkey). Also couldn't find the sleeper sofa that is mentioned in the house description.

      Homeowner Response:
Thanks for the comment. Yes the oven for the stove is a little smaller than a normal oven, and you are correct we do not have a sleeper sofa but there are two queen size air mattresses in the hall closet upstairs. I will try and find the spot that says we have a sleeper sofa and delete it. Thanks The Roemers

    • We found the house to be a great get-away that was comfortable and well appointed with all the necessities in the kitchen, and comforts of a nice home. Our group of 13 had room to spread out inside the living area, as well as outside on the large front porch to grill food and watch the sunset. The kids enjoyed the river while outside and then inside they played pool, ping-pong and darts. The highlight was a bull-moose passing through the yard twice during our stay, and we also found a few fish in the river fly-fishing. Overall a memorable and wonderful experience, and we soaked in the cool summer weather with 30-40 degree mornings in our escape from the August Texas heat. Thank you!!

    • This cabin was so comfortable and spacious. We only had 4 guests, but the room to spread out was very much appreciated. The pool table/ping pong actually kept my boys away from their video games... most of the time. We saw a moose on the river the first morning, and enjoyed simply sitting outside and listening to the sounds of nature. The furniture is so comfy and the house is very nicely decorated. Definitely would come back again!

    • The River House is a great cabin! Plenty of room for our large party of 16, very clean, well stocked. It was nice being so close to the river and being able to hear it. Two of the girls actually slept outside on the deck!! We were lucky to see several moose, one even walked through the back yard, about 20 feet from the cabin!! The river was running too fast for fishing this time, but once the run off is done I can imagine that the fishing would be awesome! We will definitely be back!!

    • Thank you for the use of your beautiful home. It has an awesome view of the mountains. My husband loved walking by the river that is across the street. We can't wait to return in the summer. There was plenty of room for everyone. Our granddaughters loved sliding down the hill beside the house. It is very cozy.

      Homeowner Response:
Thank you for taking the time to comment. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the house as our first guest.
