A major advantage of this apartment is its location in the center of the old town. Restaurants and shopping are very convenient. The owner was very accomodating in arranging a rental with very limited notice.

Dear owner, thank you so very much for forwarding our passports and money to us, which we had hidden in the Penthouse and forgotten there. You saved our trip. We had so much fun staying at your place that we left in a hurry and forgot. Thank you for your kindness in helping us and in allowing us to stay at your beautiful home. We hope we'll be able to come back again soon. Yours gratefully

We had the best time ever staying at the Penthouse in Heidelberg. It is located smack in the middle of the historic center and max 1 block from all tourist attractions. It is very comfy, well equipped and spacious. The owner and her housekeeper were extremely helpful and kind. We will definitely be back. Tips: check out the Farmer's market at the main square and the concerts in the Church, as well as the Cafe's and restaurants within this block. You'll have a great time!

Set in the heart of old Heidelberg, the penthouse provided my family and I a wonderful place to enjoy the local culture and history. The penthouse itself was quite large for my family of five to relax. Literally within meters we were at wonderful restaurants, a local butcher, and places for dessert and coffee. We were able to walk from the penthouse to the Heidelberg Castle, the student prison and the Philosopher's Walk among other sites. The Penthouse is well-equipped in the kitchen and has a washing machine for clothes.
Owner response:Thank you for visiting and for being great guests. Come again soon!
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Loved the suite, loved Heidelberg. Have returned and will definitely return again to the Penthouse.

The suite is very large and split level with a big entry hall, 3 spacious bed rooms that sleep 6, a living room, bath room, laundry room with washing machine and a well equipped kitchen and dining room with a view of the medieval castle, which dominates the city from a hillside above. The beds have great mattresses, the suite is very well equipped and it is obvious it is a cultured person's own home rather than a vacation home. We really liked the exposed medieval wooden beams in the whole penthouse. The castle was splendid to visit for the history, architecture, scupltures and a delicious restaurant. One of the best things about the suite is that, from its location, so many places are within a short walking distance: the castle, the main shopping boulevard, many historically and architectually interesting churches and buildings, restaurants, as well as quaint walks along the Neckar River across the famous Old Bridge. I love music and the church half a block away had many musical events ranging the rich history of German music to the contemporary. The owner of the suite was very helpful. No problems with any of the logistics, entry, exit, cleanliness. In fact, the owner had so many great suggestions for places to visit, we could not exhaust them. We loved our previous stay so much, we have already returned twice and will definitely do so again.

Terrible Experience! We signed the lengthy rental contract and paid for our entire stay two months ahead of time. When we arrived after a long flight from overseas and a drive from Frankfurt airport, with three small tired and jetlagged children, we found the owner herself was staying in the suite. She suggested that we use the bottom floor, which consists of two rather bare bedrooms, the kitchen/dining area and a tiny bathroom, while she would use the upstairs living room and bedrooms. A very awkward situation and not at all something one would expect from a “luxury” penthouse. We left as soon as we could find alternate accomodation, which was no easy task in lovely Heidelberg at Christmas-market time.
Owner response:She is not mentioning that I was not able to leave Heidelberg, because I had had an accident and needed medical care, something I could not have foreseen. Expecting their arrival, I had arranged to stay in a Hotel myself so they could have my condo. The Housekeeper cleaned the whole condo the morning of their arrival, it was prepared and all ready for them. I was completely packed up, ready to leave, just waiting for their arrival. When they arrived, they left their luggage in the car and just spoke to me outside my home. She said she would feel bad if I went to a Hotel and did not want me to leave. So I offered that they could stay in my condo with me FOR FREE and I would leave one whole floor to their exclusive use (2 bed rooms, bath room and kitchen) FOR FREE. She didn't want that either. She told me that their family had booked a whole Hotel for a reunion and they could stay there for free. That's what she really wanted. I helped her find the Hotel phone # and let her use my phone. She made one single phone call to that Hotel, there was room for them and she wished to go stay in the Hotel with her family. I had gone through such great length and expense to get my condo ready for them, that I would have much prefered them to stay in my place. But I accepted her choice, let them out of the contract and immediately refunded all her money. It was her preference. I don't see how I could have been more accommodating.

Beautiful "Heart of Heidelberg" Apartment

My wife and I rented this property for three nights in April 2010. It is a spacious (by European standards) apartment with a well-equipped kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms and a "smallish" bathroom on the main floor. A circular stair takes you to a mezzanine with a couch, chair and desk and a third stair takes you to a loft with two twin beds. It is more than adequate for a couple and would serve a larger family easily with sleeping and eating space. It was clean and well-kept with a good washing machine, no dryer; we had one small tv and no internet - a negative. It is a 4th floor walk-up, by American standards, no elevator. I would recommend this apartment to others with the understanding that the climb is for those healthy enough to do it. The location of this apartment in the "Heart of Heidelberg" is truly ideal for it places everything within easy walking distance and makes a personal car unnecessary.
Owner response:I always advise guests to tip the taxi driver to bring luggage up and pick it up again. The House is several Hundred years old and has modern bath room and heating, but no elevator. It's Historic charme is what makes the center of Heidelberg so special.

How could you do better than staying in the middle of the old town, half a block from the church and the bridge? Property was very clean and nice and surprisingly large. Bathroom is very small, but that's to be expected in an old home. We're very happy we chose to stay here.

Our stay in your condo was fabulous. It was close to all the historic sites in Heidelberg. The condo was very comfortable. Having the washing machine was a plus! The water pressure in the shower was awesome. I also loved the fact that the condo is on the top floors of the building so we enjoyed a very nice, cool breeze every night. We could hear the beautiful church bells ringing and the excitement of people in the streets. It was as if we were residents of this wonderful town. I am so glad we found your condo for our vacation. I know staying in a hotel would not have been 1/2 the experience we had. I look forward to the next time I get to stay in your condo. All the best to you!
Owner response:Dear Michelle, I am glad you loved my home. Thank you for taking good care of it. Please do come back. It was a pleasure having you. Much love to you!

Our stay in Heidelberg was fantastic. The Penthouse is in a perfect location for any tourist to visit the city. The walking tour of the old city starts literally at the front door. All of the arrangements went well and thank you for the prompt return of the security deposit. I will definately stay at the Penthouse on my next visit to Heidelberg.
Owner response:Dear Guest, Whenever you travel to Europe, you've got a home where you know you'll be happy and comfortable. It was a pleasure having you. Thank you. I hope you'll come back soon.
