My wife and I stayed here the last week of September. Weather forecast was for rain, but we had nothing but sunshine which makes this whole area sparkle. The architecture is sure to impress and the woodwork is impecable. All in all a great place to hang out. Others have mentioned the headroom in the loft. The dormers help, but it would be easy for 6' footers to bang their heads. If you need to use the bathroom at night, descending the ladder while sleepy can add an extra challenge. Regarding privacy, the photos don't show a neighbor's house in close proximity (just to the right in the 1st photo). They were quiet and kept to themselves. Someone in the neighborhood close by has an unsecured wifi network and our Verizon cell phone service worked just fine. If you want to use the kayaks, bring your own PFDs. Same goes for bike helmets.

What a perfect place so peaceful. It certainly lived up to our expectations and more. Everything was there that we needed, plus very clean. Our stormy weekend prevented us from using the kayaks and bikes, but we walked the loop had dinner at McMillans, drove around to South Beach to watch the huge waves and spent some time at San Juan Vineyards sampling their red wines, which as always we purchased to bring home. We will definitely return!

If you are looking to disconnect from the TV, computer, and phone for a couple of days this is it. Very, very clean with everything you will need to just sit back and relax. I had a fire each night which kept me toasty warm and it was such a pleasure laying in bed watching the sunrise through the big window in the loft each morning. I spent a lot of time at the kitchen island just looking out at the birds playing in the bay and sitting in the comfortable rocking chair reading. There are kayaks and bikes for your use and Roche Harbor is within walking distance. The owners have left this place as if they were coming home the next day and everything they normally use is there including the coffee pot filters and all the spices and condiments you’ll need for some great cooking experiences. I’ve stayed in many places but this one for the price beats them all. I hope to be back very soon.

This was our first trip to Roche Harbor. The vacation home was in an ideal location for walking to Roche Harbor. It was also in an ideal location for bike riding. The home was situated on a bay with a beautiful view however it was very close to neighbors. The house was tastefully built. One evening we dug clams from the bay and had them for dinner. What a treat! The bed is located in a loft so make sure you are able to climb up a ladder or else you won't be able to get to bed. You also want to make sure you bring your own soap and shampoo because there wasn't any furnished in the home. I ended up leaving a pair of linen shorts in the home and did not get contacted when they were found. I called and asked if they had been found and when they were returned to me they had been laundered and were not in the condition I left them in. So, just remember to take all of your belongings. Eventhough there were a couple of drawbacks, we would stay there again. Well worth the money.

We loved our stay in this cottage. We saw wildlife in our back yard every day! Bald eagles, blue herons, deer and a raccoon. We loved sitting in the rocking chairs reading and birdwatching. Every morning when we awoke to see the glassy smooth Wescott Bay. Roche Harbor is a short walk away and has a small grocery store for supplies (no fresh meat, you need to go to Friday Harbor), laundromat, three restaurants and a wonderful marina. It was an easy walk. There is a charcoal grill that we used most nights to grill fresh fish. There is a small 5 cup coffee maker. Check out the supplies before you go to the grocery store to see what is left over from the previous guests. The refrigerator is a small one under the counter, but was plenty big enough for what we needed to keep. There is a ladder going up the to the loft where the comfortable queen bed is. Watch your head getting out of bed in the loft! There is a wood burning fireplace inside and a gas heater on the patio for when it gets cool at night. It was clean and photo are an accurate representation of the cottage. We did a whale watching trip out of Roche Harbor with San Juan Island Outfitters on the Sea Hawk which was great. We also went Sea Kayaking with Outdoor Odyssey which was a lot of fun. Overall, an excellent place for 2 people to stay. An excellent value for the money.

My wife and I stayed here for a week with our 7 month old son in October 2009. It was a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The use of the grill and kayaks was a great bonus and saved money. Things to know: 1. refrigerator is a dorm-sized fridge under the counter 2. This is a loft bedroom snuggled into the roofline, if you are tall you may be wary of the low ceilings 3. There is no tv/cable (we enjoyed this but if you need TV, you may want to look elsewhere)

We stayed at the guest house in June 2008. The photos do not convey the peaceful feeling and beautiful surroundings of this wonderful vacation spot. Everything in the home is well appointed. It was the perfect place to spend an incredible 50th birthday.
