This is my 8th trip to Isla and the 4th or 5th time I've stayed at Casa Luna Y Sol - which is the perfect base for a great vacation! The house is extremely comfortable and has a lot of options for whatever a person or a group feels like doing: there are many comfortable areas for lounging, a lovely patio area for socializing, a great pool, numerous decks (the topmost is ideal for watching the sunset!), peaceful bedrooms (with very comfortable beds), and sizable bathrooms. Travel into town is super easy -- cabs come by regularly and we never waited for more than a few minutes to get a ride (taxis are very reasonable, too, at about $2.50 a trip). There's a great new store (sort of like a Target/WalMart) within walking distance that carries everything under the sun, including sunscreen, groceries, beverages, toiletries, etc. All in all, this is a great house with everything one might need to enjoy the perfect vacation!

La CasaLuna y Sol is a great vacation house. It's a quiet, private house and just a quick, easy cab ride into town for the beach, restaurants, etc. Sunsets from the house's roof deck were amazing, and there are several other terraces and balconies for lounging, exercise, or general R&R. The on-line pictures of the outdoor dining area (conveniently off the kitchen) don't do it justice; we spent hours there eating, playing games, and thoroughly enjoying ourselves and the beautiful view of the pool and tropical greenery. There is a new, enormous, grocery store less than a five minutes walk, I think it's spelled Chedraui. They have an amazing range of products, and it's so convenient to the house. We mostly bought snacks and breakfast foods there, preferring to eat in town since there are a lot of good, inexpensive restaurants, from Mexican, to Italian, Cuban, steakhouses, Thai, and more. Plus, a TON of gelato/ice cream stands!! :) The owners provided lots of clear, useful instructions and tips about the house and the island, which we really appreciated. I highly recommend the turtle farm and the house in general!

My husband, myself and our 4 adult children had a wonderful time at La Casa Luna y Sol. The description of the house was accurate. The house was spotless when we arrived. The pool was lovely. The kitchen is equipped, but we really didn't cook any meals. The outside dining area was perfect for our family. A water cooler with large bottles of water is provided. More were kept in the garage if we ran out. There were ample towels with more in the garage if needed. Maid service was provided once during the week which was a welcome surprise. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioners worked well. The showers had plenty of hot water. The decks were magnificent. We truly enjoyed drinking tea from the top deck or the deck above the garage. A surprise that we missed from the description was the top bedroom. It is accessible from the master bedroom deck. It has its own deck and one above it. There was some discussion as to who got to sleep there! You will find a large grocery store, a bar, and a beer distributor all within walking distance. The taco shop across from the grocery story is awesome! Two blocks down from the taco shop, just past the ball field is an incredible shop that sells grilled chicken, potatoes, and onions. For $20 we fed six hungry people with leftovers! As the description states, taxis are readily available. For about $3 we were able to pile 4 people in a taxi and travel into town and the beach. Jugna answered all of our questions in a timely fashion. She and the caretaker were very helpful. Our whole family agrees that La Casa Luna y Sol is a wonderful vacation spot that we would absolutely rent again and highly recommend.

Oh my goodness. What a fabulous experience we had at Casa Luna Y Sol. I think this is the perfect place to stay in Isla. First of all, Jugna was extrememly gracious. She answered any questions and gave us the best advice on travel, sightseeing and restaurants. The owners really care about their renters. We were greeted by the property manager and he was a delight, checking in daily to see if we needed anything. But really the house is truly a great place to stay especially if you are sharing with other couples. Can you believe that each room has its own bathroom and deck? I had four decks from which to choose each day to practice my yoga. The roof top deck offers sunrises and sunsets. The property is so clean and well kept. It is free of clutter and has tons of closet space. It is located on the main road and we never waited more than a minute or two for a taxi. It is also so fun to rent the golfcarts and see all of the sights. We really liked going to the beach and then coming HOME to our beautiful private house. AND there is a brand new grocery store about a block away. Cooking in was so much fun. The bedrooms were spacious and really wonderful breeze. I know that we will be going back and I have my friends and relatives already looking at their calendars. Isla is small and it can get crowded at North Beach and to be able to come to a place that offers quiet and privacy is exceptional. Thank you so much Jugna and Jamie.

Isla Mujeres is a gorgeous island and the stay at La Casa Luna Y Sol was the perfect place to stay to enjoy everything the island has to offer. From the time we arrived at the house until the day we left, everything was wondeful. The pictures don't do this house justice! The poolside table area is ideal for eating, playing games, or just socializing. The kitchen has everything you could hope for to make breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner!! And all the rooms have their own bathrooms with warm water showers! All rooms have air conditioners and ceiling fans!! There's even a washing machine and cloths line to do laundry! The house provides clean sheets and towels. Amazing!! The location is second to none. You are close to everything! The house is within walking distance to several restaurants and the new Chedraui. Taxis are always available (for a very reasonable price) to take you to where you want to go. As it is our 3rd time to the island and staying at La Casa Luna Y Sol, we have been able to sample many of the delights of Isla. There are so many great restaurants and the night life is relaxed and fantastic. I cannot wait for our next trip to Isla and the stay at La Casa Luna Y Sol. I would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a beautiful place to stay that is close to everything on the island and a very affordable price!! Thanks Jugna!

We had a wonderful week staying at la Casa Luna y Sol in Isla Mujeres. My husband and I went with three other couples, which was just perfect for the beautiful four bedroom/four bathroom house. Having been to Mexico on previous trips, I would definitely reccomend staying at a house as opposed to a resort. You have your own private pool (with no kids splashing unless you bring them) and a kitchen, which made this our most affordable vacation ever! I ended up spending many afternoons at the house reading outside in the hammock and relaxing. It was fabulous! This year a new supermarket called Chedraui had opened up, just a short walk from the house. It has a great variety of supplies including pharmacy and grocery (including Boca products) and even scooters. I think that Isla is our favorite vacation spot because of the small town feel. The island feels safe and the locals are friendly. The beaches are quiet, clean and beautiful. We had such a great time that we're already planning our vacation for next year. I would reccomend Isla to anyone taking a vacation!

I took my wife, her sister, and my brother in law on a surprise vacation to Isla Mujeres prior to the holiday craze. Initially we were torn between staying in a condo on North Beach but these were expensive but close to the beach vs. staying in a private house that was far less expensive but farther away. Turns out my decision to stay mid-island in a private home was perfect b/c the amenities of the house, including the private pool, all of the outdoor space, a nice kitchen, and beautiful spacious bedrooms for everyone was totally worth it. Plus it was so easy to catch taxis to head downtown. We never waited for more than 5 minutes and paid about $2-$3 each way. La Casa Luna Y Sol definitely went beyond my expectations and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing getaway without any hassles. Plus, Drew, the property manager at the house was great! He checked on us every other morning and answered all of our questions about the island, things to do, where to go, etc…it was like having your own personal concierge but without any extra cost!

We just finished our 3rd trip to La Casa Luna Y Sol on Isla Mujeres, and we couldn't have had a better time. We stayed with 3 other couples in this absolutely gorgeous house. I love the privacy aspect of a house vs. a hotel. We each had our own spacious room along with our own private bath with a shower. It was a little cool for the beach one day, but the beautiful pool at the house was protected from the wind and allowed us to get our much needed sun & water fix. I also appreciate the full kitchen and table. It allowed us to save SO MUCH MONEY! We loved being able to wake up on our own schedules and make breakfast. This is especially handy if you're traveling with other guests. Another benefit of the house is the onsite laundry. We saved money by only taking carry-ons knowing that we could wash clothes as needed. Plus, we avoided having to wait around for our bags and got an extra few minutes on the beach! The rooftop deck is also a great place to watch a sunset with your special someone. If you're worried about it not being right next to Playa Norte, don't be. You can simply step outside the door at any time of night or day, and within seconds there is a cab driving by looking for passengers. They are so friendly, and it only costs around 20 pesos ($2) to take up to 4 of you anywhere you want to go. We appreciated how quiet the house was every night when we returned. We really enjoyed the nightlife on the island. The whole island seems to really embrace tourists. We ate somewhere new every night, and the food was FABULOUS and incredibly affordable! I had as much steak and seafood as I could, and still stayed under budget. That left plenty for cervesas :-) We also had fun shopping with local trades people. The prices are so much cheaper than the duty free shops or resort areas. There isn't one negative thing I can say about the house, or the island. Thank you Jugna and Drew for another fantastic experience! We will be back. Jason

Hey Jugna!Just wanted to take a minute to tell you what a wonderful time we had at Isla last week. The house was fantastic, the kids really loved the pool and the adults fought over the hammock! The location of the house was great, short taxi rides into town was very convenient. We rented a golf cart for 2 days and just enjoyed "tooling" around the island at our own pace.Having Drew check on us to make sure all our needs were met was a bonus! Thanks again for helping to make our vacation so much fun!

We just returned from Isla Mujeres, where our son and new daughter-in-law took their vows. Casa Luna Y Sol was the perfect residence for that event: convenient to town and North Beach via the many taxis; four bedrooms and baths for our family; a great pool; and fully equpped. Isla Mujeres, in particular, is truly Mexico: relaxing, friendly, great food, great weather. And Phillipe at the Sunset Grill added so much more in guiding making this wedding event a true success.

Our son and new daughter-in-law just exchanged their wedding vows on Isla Mujeres. La Casa Luna Y Sol turned out to be the perfect accommodation for the rest of our family. The four bedrooms, four baths, multi-level villa (complete with its own swimming pool and veranda) gave us a home-away-from-home. And the taxi-ready convenience to downtown and North Beach (we never waited at the curb longer than 4 minutes) couldn't be beat. The owner of La Casa Luna Y Sol was also more than accommodating in offering us a less-than-a-full-week rental. Not that a week on Isla Mujeres is a burden; but circumstances put us in the position of requiring less. So for those who want to create new "laid back" memories on Isla Mujeres -- without the requirement of breaking waves underneath your window -- take a moment to look at La Casa Luna Y Sol.

We had one of our best family vacations here – and we vacation a lot! We suspect that we picked a perfect week - we enjoyed great service, ate fantastic (and inexpensive) food, and had memorable experiences diving and swimming with the local whale sharks.Casa Luna Y Sol has a great location – away from the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to be a short taxi ride away (and taxis are plentiful and cheap). The garden area was fantastic, surrounding the pool which was refreshing in the heat of the day and in the evening. The house was well stocked with built in furniture which was very functional. It was very charming. The home was also safe and secure. There was adequate room for washing and hanging all of our dive gear. Each of the bedroom rooms had nice bathrooms and plenty of storage space for our gear. We dove with Agua Adventures and had a great experience. They also arranged for our very memorable whale shark trip. We visited most of the restaurants recommended in the “house book” and agreed with nearly all. Our favorite was the Loncheria near the public market. This is a great place to stay and a great value. Fantastic beaches, delicious food, plentiful margaritas and a wonderful variety of water activities will make this a memorable vacation for your whole family.

4 of my friends and I just came back from Isla Mujeres and it was AMAZING. We were there June 25th - 30th. The island is beautiful, but this house is even more stunning. It was sooo clean and the layout was beautiful. more decks to sun on than you can shake a stick at...and the pool? amazing. we cooked, sun bathed, swam and just relaxed all in the privacy of this beautiful place. before going we were concerned about its proximity to the beach, food and others. NO WORRIES! we had 1 golf cart (fit all 5) and a yummy restaurant was 2 minutes to the left..along with a place to pick up beers! the town by cart is maybe 5 - 10 minutes were we picked up groceries to cook in the awesome kitchen! the beach was right there too. late night swims, food, beer with friends, days at the beach...it was just what these new yorkers needed. Thanks jugna and drew for the helping to make our trip amazing. oh and no swine flu!

This house totally exceeded our expectations! The home is lovely, with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and a well-equiped kitchen. The private pool with a waterfall made it feel like a tropical paradise. Everything was very clean, the property manager made us feel like we were close friends and he made sure that we had everything we needed to make our visit perfect. I was a little worried prior to going there because the house was not in the heart of the activity at Playa Norte. After our first day, I was so happy to get back to the privacy and relaxation of the house after a day at the beach or in town shopping. The cab ride was only $2 for the entire car and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a cab. We rented golf carts and mopeds for the first day and toured the entire island. What a great experience! After that, we did not need transportation. Isla Mujeres is like taking a step back in time. In our opinion, Isla gives you the opportunity to get a glimpse of the simple life and culture of the people, without all of the hoopla. The restaurants were excellent and extremely inexpensive. We had planned to cook a few nights, but ended up eating out every night. We couldn't wait to try all of the places. We ate at Medina Tacos, Bamboo, Angelos, a great Cuban place, and a Bistro on a corner of Hidalgo that cooked steaks and fish right outside on a grill. The drinks are two for one almost everywhere and are excellent. We especially enjoyed the Pina Coladas at the tiki bar behind Posada Del Mar. We went diving twice and went snorkeling at Garrafon Castillo,North Beach was not crowded and the water was beautiful. We rented chairs from Sunset Grill and stayed to watch the sunset. Best of all, the cost of our umbrellas and chairs ($30 for 2 umbrellas and 4 chairs) went toward the cost of our food and drinks. We ate lunch, had snacks, and 2 members of our group drank Sol beer all day. It only costs us about $40 - so our umbrellas and chairs were free! One recommendation is to bring lots of $1 bills. We brought 100 ones and went through them pretty quickly. Cash is best. The beauty of not having a commercialized vacation spot made it worth having to pay cash often. I would strongly recommend La Casa Luna Y Sol to anyone who is looking for a peaceful vacation in a tropical paradise. We cannot wait until we can go again! Make your reservations now!

I had a fantastic girls week at this gorgeous house in Isla at the end of April. My idea of vacation is relaxation, shopping, and drinking and not in that order. The house is close to North Beach and all of the shops. I was most impressed with how clean and spacious the house was. Being from a small town, I found the island to be very comfortable and just the right size. I can not wait to return to Isla and stay at this fab house again.

The island is such a quaint getaway - we loved it. The house itself is in a great location and takes 5 minutes to get to the beach via taxi. We never waited more than a few minutes outside the house for a taxi to come by and pick us up. The house is very private, incredibly clean and big. I was pleasantly surprised how clean and comfortable the house was and could easily accommodate many people. Would recommend to all my friends and family!

It's taken us a long time to post this review from our trip taken in November 2007. The trip to Isla Mujeres was wonderful and relaxing. The island is beautiful, the people friendly, and the house is perfect for a stellar vacation. In fact, there were days we just opted to hang out relaxing in and by the pool and the hammock area rather then venture to the beach. Being centrally located, it is a quick trip to both ends of the island and is secluded enough that you can really get away from it all. The owners and property manager were very responsive to our needs. I definitely recommend La Casa Luna Y Sol. You will not regret staying here!

My partner and I stayed here in January 2009 and absolutely loved it. The house is beautiful and very well maintained. It was so relaxing just to lounge around in the pool or in the hammock. The island has some great restaurants and North Beach offered an excellent way to enjoy the sand, sun and ocean. The owners and caretakers are very responsive and accommodating. All in all, I can not recommend La Casa Luna Y Sol enough and we will definitely be returning soon!

This is a great house in a fabulous location. Isla is really easy to get to from Cancun, but is a world away -- it's quaint, quiet, friendly, and low key. The beaches are spectacular and the dining is really first-rate. It's much cheaper then one might expect and there are usually tons of specials to take advantage of. The house is the perfect base for an Isla vacation - it's a very short (and cheap) cab ride into the main town. It has a ton of decks and outdoor space where guests can relax, tan, watch the sun set (or rise!), etc. The pool is fantastic and the patio area by the pool is so comfortable and relaxing that there were days we didnt' even go to town. We've just returned from an 8 day stay at Isla Mujeres. Our home base was at Casa Luna Y Sol. What a wonderful choice! The property is well kept and the location was perfect. We were well taken care of by the owner and the property manager. The views from the upstairs balconies were outstanding! We loved the sun deck as well as the pool. Being able to do laundry was also a great asset. Looking forward to our return next October! What a great island!! Beautiful, quaint, and very friendly. Dinner at Casa O's is a must! Another great eatery is Marino's on Hildlago Street. Please say hello to Miguel and Rafeal for us. We had a wonderful time and the overall experience was nothhing but positives all around.
Owner response:We are thrilled to have so many guests rave about how great the island is. We certainly love being able to share our home on Isla with guests and love hearing your favorite experiences on the island. Thank you

We enjoyed everything about our vacation on Isla Mujeres. The house was wonderful. It worked great for our family as we had enough room for everyone to have their own space. The house was clean and well kept. Drew was great and answered all of our questions. The location is great as it is almost in the middle of the island so cab fares are cheap about $2. We loved Playa Norte and spent a lot of time there. We also enjoyed the Hildalgo Street area. The food was great and inexpensive. My 16 year old loved it. The atmospere is relaxed and yet you can keep busy if you want to. We would definitely recommend the house to others and we would love to return to visit again.

There are so many good things to say about Isla Mujeres in general and La Casa Luna y Sol in specific. Where to start? One of my favorite things was how the common rooms are so central to the house yet each of the four bedrooms was totally private. It's a real luxury to have both features in one house. Watching the sunset from the top deck is an experience not to be missed. (I hear the same about sunrise but I was peacefully sleeping!) Lounging by/in the pool and enjoying the trickling waterfall is immensly relaxing. The outdoor dining area is sure to be a favorite spot for reading, chatting, or drinking your morning coffee. Regarding logistics, it is extremely easy to get not only to Isla, but also to the house (taxis are cheap). The house was super clean and the property very well maintained. The owners were more than accomodating and I got the sense their property managers are equally adept at meeting individual needs. Writing all this is making me want to go back!
