Lakefront Home 6 BR / 5 BA in Gated Golf Community
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Lake of the Pines
We had a great time traveling Northern California looking for the perfect lakefront spot. We were looking for an inland spot with warm nights. We wanted a lake which was big enough to water ski yet we did not want to be awaken to the sound of ski boats. At first we were looking for sunsets but soon learned from lake dwellers that western facing homes took a toll from the afternoon Sun. Most of all we wanted a place with tranquility and security where we go unwind and get away from the rush of Silicon Valley.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The home is on a quiet cove in the Private community of Lake of the Pines. Although you have wonderful vistas across the main lake you are far enough away from it that you have great peacefulness and tranquility. You awaken when you are good and ready to the sound of signing birds. The evenings are remarkably quiet and the huge sky offers a striking view of the milky way with shooting stars and even orbiting satellites. Sitting by the dock at dusk and watching the sky change probably our favorite thing. A family of deer often quietly sneak by behind you on the lawn. Mallard ducks will wander up to the dock hoping to get a cracker or two from you. It is just about a perfect spot.
Dinners are served Friday and Saturday evenings. Have dinner at sunset on the porch on a warm summer night as skiboats get in the last runs of the day. Weddings can be booked on the clubhouse lawn wi
Brand new "Tahoe style" sports lounge has views across the lake and moderately priced breakfast, lunches and dinners. Indoor and outdoor bar area has many great beers on tap. New Bocce Ball courts too.
A sand volleyball court next to the lake and a half court basketball court
Holiday Market (full grocery), Roundtable Pizza, Ace Hardware, Stinky's (fun) Sports Bar, hair salon, bakery, Chinese restaurant, urgent care, other stores and restaurants
Gas station, car wash, Quiznos, Longs Drugs, Steak and Pizza restaurant
21515 Higgins Road, 530-268-1073, Steak, Pizza, Great grilled Salmon / Steak Salads, huge number of drafts on tap, reasonably priced and casual; take out
In addition to private sandy beach on our property, there is a large private beach for all of Lake of the Pines here with umbrellas, vending machines, etc. which is frequented by a lot of kids in the community.

Owner's Map of Lake of the Pines
Diane grew up on a lake in Traverse City, Michigan where she learned to water ski, snow ski and snowmobile. In the mornings she would paddle her canoe across the lake to meet the school bus with her white lab taking his spot in the bow. John grew up on a bluff over looking the Rock River - a tributary of the Mississippi in Illinois. Both John and Diane learned to value the wonderful calming effect of a home on the water.

we spent the weekend in October at Tranquility Cove and it was much better than going to any spa or therapy session! Cheaper too! From the moment we drove up to the house, we were overcome by a sense of peace and were welcomed by a group of deer eating peacefully in the yard. The home is well appointed, excellent views and very comfortable. Nearby vineyards made the trip. This home is great for reunions, get aways for thte girls, second honeymoons or for self renewal. Believe me you WILL be back to this little piece of heaven

With trying to plan a get away for a close group of girlfriends we came across this property. What a great find! For the 7 of us it was perfect! The kitchen was well stocked for the breakfast & dinners we prepared there. The view of the lake is beautiful from many locations on the property. It was perfect for our outings to the many towns nearby for shopping & sightseeing each day during our stay. John & Diane ~ you have a wonderful place @ Tranquility Cove!

As a family of fifteen, aging from 4 to 71 we found this a great vacation spot. The children caught plenty of small fish off the dock. The older ones found larger ones in the lake .A beautiful home with all the ameneties, including cable and wi-fi. The kids enjoyed the paddle boat and canoe and the adults appreciated the refrigerator on the dock. There were plenty of places to relax and just and take in the view. I would highly recommend this as a fun place. It was well l maintained and clean.

With 3 refrigerators, 2 stoves, plus a nice Weber gas grill, what more could a large family gathering ask for? Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, great open space on main floor, lots of counter space in the kitchens (yes, there are two of them), large decks with plenty of seating, nice dock area with more seating, nice lake, canoe and paddle boat, wireless internet that works great even outside ... I could go on, but you get the idea! The owners were great also - Diane was just a phone call or email away for any questions leading up to and during our visit. Thanks for the great stay!

A group of nine came to play Darkhorse, one of the ten best golf courses in California. There is one course in the gated development but Darkhorse is actually cheaper and a very beautiful course just a few miles away. The house is very nice with several rooms for people to gather, a huge deck and a nice dock area. We took the canoe out and decided this house was in the best location on the lake - very serene, quiet and seems private. One day it rained and we started the fireplace which made our afternoon of games and conversation very cozy. We slept in the master bedroom and loved waking up to a wall of windows looking at the lake. The house has some unique river rock showers which are beautiful. Our golf group goes somewhere every year but we all agreed we would love to come back here.
Owner response:Thanks for sharing the fun you folks had! We loved having you and glad we could help you make some more great memories with your friends. I love the sounds in the morning as well. Feel free to make plans for next year and give me a shout! -Diane

We had a group of ten women that gathered for a conference and stayed in this lakefront home. We all enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake and the large, open great room with the fireplace. A couple of us took a jog around the lake and were greeted by friendly visitors and residents. We also saw many deer roaming the grounds. We would definately reccommend this home to others. It's perfect for large groups.

Tranquility Cove was a wonderful place for our cousin retreat. The home is perfectly situated on the lake, it is beautiful! Although we were faced with quite a storm we still had a great time around the awesome stone fireplace and ended up cooking in a lot, it actually was fun. We would have liked to gone on the lake but due to the storm I guess we will have to save that for next time...:-).

My family and I so enjoyed our time at Tranquility Cove! The home was beautiful, comfortable, well-maintained, and just made you feel like you were truly on vacation. The views from the deck and patio were stunning. Our 13-yr old, who uses a manual wheelchair, was able to access the house comfortably, and was even able to go down to the lower patio and deck. We all had a great time relaxing on the deck or patio, playing on the lake with the canoe and paddle boat, going for early morning jogs and afternoon golf outings, and wrapping up the evenings with dinner cooked on the outdoor grill. Just a magical place!

This home is so wonderfully relaxing and peaceful. Waking up each morning to the lake with the ducks and the wildlife was amazing. It has a perfect set up for a large family, small group our couple get away. It was great having a large, well stocked kitchen, and an amazing outdoor deck to enjoy each meal from. The living room with the fireplace was perfect for relaxing in the evening with family. We loved the neighborhood and several of us took many jogs and bike rides each morning enjoying the beautiful lake view. There was great golf near by, as well as shopping, starbucks and restaurants to enjoy, yet it felt like hundreds of miles away which is what makes this location perfect for any vacation. The deck and dock area with the paddle boat, canoe and chairs on the deck was used all day soaking up the sun and wonderful view. I also personally enjoyed the master bathroom jacuzzi tub with the beautiful lake view. Soaking in that and relaxing in the evening was perfect. We can't wait to go back and enjoy another relaxing and peaceful time at this amazing home!! Thank you John and Diane :)

My girlfriends and I go away once a year, and we were lucky enough to find this great home! The house was right on the lake, had all the amenities, and was nicely furnished too. And it was big enough so that we each had our own room and bathroom--a big plus! The owner sent lots of helpful information and some tips on where to go and what to do in the area. We spent most of our time by the lake enjoying the sun but also found a really good restaurant in town--the Sierra Grill--that had great food! Would highly recommend this home!
