This was an amazing trip into relaxation land. My husband and I looked at this vacation as a 'scouting trip' for the rest of the family. I am pleased to say that 'we will be back'. Rod and Barb do a great job of hosting you while still giving you all the space you need to have a wonderful vacation. Our only reservation is that we didn't take advantage of the area and the facilities as much as we would have like...we got off to a slow start, but won't the next time.

We were picked up by Homar at SJD, who took us shopping then delivered us to the Albright's. Saturday Rod put the "Bill Collector" on the water, while we watched and enjoyed the Mexican warmth and sunshine. Sunday we fished for the day, and although we did not catch anything, the weather was phenomenal. While out, our friends arrived from Ontario and were moved in to the home next to ours. Mon and Tues were too windy to boat, so we rented Rod's 3 ATVs and explored the coast. My 15 year old had a blast exploring on the quad by himself. Wed was clear, so three of us headed out with Rod's captain, Louis. That day, my older son and our friend each landed their first striped Marlin. I wanted to try inshore fishing, so Rod arranged for a local Captain to take us out in a Panga the next day. The boat met us at 6:00 on the beach in front of our house. During the day we caught smaller fish that we had never seen before. Friday I wanted to try for Marlin, but everyone else decided to go on the 3/4 day long snorkelling tour. They had an incredible time (so I hear), but I had my best day ever of big game fishing with Rod & Louis. The water was calm the whole day, during which we caught a Marlin, a Sailfish & a Dorado. Barb cleaned the Dorado, and for supper we all headed to a local restaurant where they cooked the fish and provided the trimmings. Saturday we tried again, but although we never saw a billfish, we did have some excitement when we found two Dorado circling a sea turtle. We caught the smaller Dorado, and the second much larger one circled our boat for ten more minutes. Sunday we spent in Los Barilles at the festival, where our wives shopped and we visited with people from Town. On our final day we tried to get out fishing again, but the winds turned us back home after 1/2 hour of travel. Rod graciously forgave the charter fee. We quickly arranged for a 3 hour zip lining excursion, just west of Los Barilles. During our stay, Barb and Rod explained local customs, answered our questions, and helped us with anything else we needed. One evening they invited us out for supper at a local restaurant in the middle of nowhere. The meal was wonderful, and upon arriving home in the dark, Barb helped everyone to send out their own "wish lantern" into the night sky. It was also great to have the free use of their 2 sea kayaks, and the inexpensive use of their van, quads and fishing boat. It was great to have Barb and Rod take care of us!

We just came back from spending 5 days and 4 nights in Barb and Rod's little bungalow on the beach and had such a wonderful time that we really wish we could have stayed longer. The beach is literally right outside your door and for the most part, you have it all to your self. Loved getting up each morning and watching the sunrise with our toes in the sand. The town of Las Barriles is about a mile or so away and has many interestering places to visit as well as many top notch restaurants to eat. We definately would reccommend this romantic little getaway to anyone who wants or needs to escape from reality if only for a little while!

What a way to roll into the New Year. This place can only be described as nothing short of spectacular. The view, the sound of the ocean and the cozy accommodations were so beautiful. We came here to escape from reality of "real life" and we were not disappointed one bit. We were even able to take in the sights of the "Lord of the Wind" kitesurfing competution. Those people are good. Had breakfast @the RoadRunner cafe a couple of times and everything was so good. I think the ocean air makes a person extra hungry. Hopefully we can return again with a little prayer and a lot of luck. Our advise to you would be to walk the beach every morning during sunrise. Then the world is at peace with itself. Adios Casa Albright!! You'll be long in our thoughts Lori & John Washington

My husband and I have just return from Christmas holiday vacation. It was a very welcoming, well stocked, spacious home in quiet beautiful location. We walked for miles, swam in sea waves, went fishing and cooked delicious meal, kayaked, snorkeled in nearby rocks, drove to La Paz. Rod and Barb are very nice and hospitable people, excellent hosts. We have brought warm memories back to Canada. Rod and Barb, thank you for your kindness and hospitality! We hope to do it again one day.

Just got back from our 6th stay at Casa Albright. 16 days this time. And guess what, we've already booked for next year. It has everything we want in a vacation. You can be busy in the nearby town, on the sea or in the desert, or just do nothing and relax in paradise. Barb and Rod are the best hosts you can imagine. They are the icing on the cake.

Exactly what I needed!!!!!!!!!!! The perfect escape from the hustle & bustle of “real life” I did nothing more than soak up the sun, swim in the sea & drink cerveza..OK, there were 2 kayaking adventures & a few drives into town for groceries….but over all complete solitude 4 relaxation for a burned out single professional… Barb is a doll!! She rescued me when I got lost on my first venture in the mini-van.. And Rod gifted me with fresh parrot fish---YUM Casa Albright will become a tradition for me, no doubt. B & R have the best version of the real life Many Thanks Christa

We are in love with this location, won't stay anywhere else. Been here several times...sunrise & sunsets like none other. Always see whales & mantaray! Kayaking is awesome, the water is so clear, you get to see "sea" life. My husband knows I need to go at LEAST once a year, it is serenity!

Jonah & Nikki (Portland, OR) Our stay with Rod and Barb was awesome. They were wonderful hosts and truly made our stay very memorable. The white sand beaches were lined with clear quartz, mica, sea shells, coral, and beautiful bits of various conglomerations of granite (we spent hours combing the shore for our collection). The beach was so relaxing, there was literally no foot traffic around this area. The occasional ATV would putter by and a few cows from the near by ranch would take an evening stroll along the beach but that was about it. The water was about 78 degrees and clear for many feet off the beach, so great to go swimming here. This house is so wonderful because we got the big house feel for a small hotel room price. Fully stocked kitchen, A/C in the bedrooms and a comfy bed to lay our heads. We went fishing on a Monday with Rod on his 26ft Panga and ate Dorado (MahiMahi) for the rest of our stay till Saturday; lunch and dinner. I'm already missing the bar-b-que by the beach. We will definitely be back, Casa Albright.

We found paradise! Just the two of us, we loved Casa Albright. We were looking for a quiet place to spend our second week in Baja. After Cabo this was a delight. Barb and Rod were great hosts. We loved kayaking in the morning and walking the beach. Lots of privacy. Best of all we enjoyed doing very little. We enjoyed the sounds of nature morning and night. Little need for conversation. Great place to connect with one another and the gracious earth.

It was awesome to be back in Los Barriles especially in Casa Albright Rod and Barb were superb & kind hosts. We love and appreciate your generosity and knowledge of fishing and the area. We had a wonderful and relaxing time here. What a better to wake up with the beach in your front yard, the sun rising in the horrizon, and thep elicans flocking in the clear blue skies. We enjoyed simple walks on the beach collecting sea shells to riding the ATQ to the canyon and to town. Thank you again from all of us, can't wait to come back Brian, LInh,Katelyn Jasmine

Highly recommended for a relaxing beach-side vacation. We stayed there for a week in December of 2009 and after reading all of the other comments here, probably the best things that I can add is that everything fully lived up to the description and other glowing comments on VRBO. Rod and Barb were wonderfully friendly and helpful, the home was great, and the area was safe, serene, and oh-so relaxing. Los Barriles was perfect for us: close, but not too close, well-stocked with restaurants and amenities without being touristy. English was widely spoken, USD accepted everywhere. It was also a great mid-point between La Paz and Cabo for the purposes of day trips - we could get a taste of the other places to contrast with just how happy we were at Casa Albright.

Truly our "Home Away From Home" - the only place we'll ever go! Been here 3 times in the last 2 years; can't say enough how wonderful the accommodations, amenities, hospitality and genuine friendliness of everyone in the area are! Spacious and comfortable, it affords privacy inside and out. One can step out on the patio to the beach area, relax on the chaise lounges, or go for a swim, snorkel, kayak, fish, or walk the beautiful undeveloped beach - there's new treasures daily. We found it safe, secure; it's modern, very clean, and quiet. We wake up daily to spectacular sunrises which lend to the many early morning activities: the entourage of fishing boats congregating on the horizon, shimmering bait fish under glistening ripples, a road runner quickly 'running' through, frigate birds catching a snack in the waves, or spotted rays "dancing" with sound effects as they slap the water while we drink our coffee and enjoy breakfast. On several occasions, we've had the ultimate pleasure to watch schools of dolphin and breaching whales pass through - a sight to behold and hear!

Casa Albright was by far our favorite location in Mexico. A quaint place off the beaten path. We enjoyed relaxing in the sun, walking the semi-private beach, and taking in morning runs on the less traveled neighboring roads. The kayaks were our favorite toy that came with Casa Albright. Giving us access to cruse through schools of fish, access nearby snorkeling, and watch whales and dolphins. Although we could do all of this from the front yard, it was fun to be on the water. Rod and Barb are gracious hosts and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to share a piece of their paradise. We will be back:)

This little piece of paradise was the perfect holiday for us. We enjoyed the private beach setting with no crowds. The beach front was amazing, we could hear the ocean waves at night. We enjoyed many days by the ocean, playing in the sand. Los Barilles is a nice little town with many great restaurants and everything you need. The scenery and peacefulness made our holiday a very relaxing one. Barb and Rod are gracious hosts and provide you with anything you need. They are very knowledgeable of the area and life here. They provide privacy but also wonderful company. Thank you so much for making our vacation memorable. Casey says "Thanks DUDE and Barb". Jason, Marni and Casey Delaurier Whitehorse, Yukon

The internet has the ability to really frame a place, and often, the descriptions and photos of a place do not match the reality. I was thrilled to discover that Casa Albright not only matches its billing, it far exceeds it. I know of no other place where a family can stay right on the beach, 50 feet from the aqua blue waters of the Sea of Cortez without having to take out a second (or third) mortgage. In a place where value is becoming hard to find, Casa Albright remains a true treasure. We caught fish from the free kayaks, spent hours on what is virtually a private beach and saw a turtle come up and start excavating its nest. It was indeed a fantastic experience. We have already recommended it to friends of ours.

We looked at so many places on VRBO it became exhausting. I told DeWayne you decide, I dont care *sigh* We almost decided-settled really- on a place. Then I found Casa Albright, I told DeWayne, wait and look at this place, there was no decision to be made--this was obviously the place for us. Rod & Barb have been nothing but extremely gracious & accommodation, providing everything anyone could possilbe want or need here, including privacy. We especially admire their regard for marine life & the evniroment. DeWayne is so happy to fly his malin flag and we will be back for more. The Kayaks and ATV were something out of the ordinary for us. Which really helps make a great vacation. YA'LL can count on seeing us again. thanks so much Sandy and DeWayne

Rod and Barb, On April 11, 2008 my family ventured to BCS for a family vacation to enjoy Mulege, Punta Colorada /Los Cabos via private plane and then on to Los Barriles via rental car to stay 5 days with Rod and Barb. What happened on April 14th taxing down the runway at Hotel Serenidad Mulege en route to Cabo/Punta Colorada at 8:04am that morning will forever be a vacation my family will never forget. I'll let Rod and Barb tell our story when you visit this oasis of paradise in Los Barriles that they've created. I will also tell you that my family will always be in debt to Rod and Barb for their care, hospitality and guidance during our stay. They gave back our vacation after the incident in Mulege and we are forever grateful for the compassion and assistance they provided. We will return absolutely. All our love, Marek, Lynn, Kayla, and Lea.

Although we have been to this area of Baja before, this was our first stay at Casa Albright & we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Rod & Barb were very gracious hosts, making us feel more like friends than vacation home renters. They guided us to the best restaurants & bars, and they are excellent fishing guides -- we caught Dorado & Blue Marlin while on their boat, and also caught a few fish right from shore. We had a perfectly relaxing trip with just the right amount of socializing & would definately recommend this rental home to others. Muchas Gracias, Rod & Barb!

Thanks to the self sufficiency of Casa Albright we enjoyed movies, DSL internet connections, Coctails and shared dinners with two of the most hospitable people in the Los Barriles area, and simply ignored the storm raging outside. The accommodations and friendly hosts we found at Casa Albright will always stand out in our minds as having made a wonderful experience of Baja. Baja Sur, in general, is truly breathtaking for its natural beauty and the remarkably warm and genuine people who make their home there. This was our first trip to the community of Los Barriles and we instantly felt at home there. Rod and Barb, the wonderful and helpful hosts have outfitted this comfortable haven with countless thoughtful details, including a well stocked kitchen. It is spotlessy clean and the view is breathtaking. In short, we didn't want to leave and now find ourselves dreaming about returning as soon as we can! We highly recommend everyone rent Rod's boat for a day. The various marine life, views from the boat, not to mention the fantastic fishing, it's an incredible experience. We caught and released two stripped marlin and it was the trill of a lifetime. We definitely recommend this special place to any and all who seek a blissful holiday filled with warmth and comfort.

The web-site for this rental is totally accurate. The beach is private and beautiful. Everything you need is there and you dont have to bring many extra items. It worked out perfect for our 6 year old, there was plenty of space inside for her to run around and even a fenced in yard she could play in when we were not playing on the beach. We have rented many private rentals and this one is by far the largest we have been in for the price range. It is the place to choose if you enjoy privacy but is only a short drive if you feel the need to go into Cabo to be amonst crowds. For our vacation it was perfect. I feel lucky to have found it and hope to visit again sometime. Barb and Rod thank you for making the place so nice. Cheryl, James and Keelyn.

"Shock and awe" could describe our reaction when arriving at the unbelievable beachside site we were recently privileged to call our home for a week. It is literally right on the sand of a very private shore. What a great opportunity to experience the Baja. We explored the entire area and especially enjoyed getting familiar with the nearby town of Los Barrile and its many excellent restaurants. It was a perfect way to have freedom and adventure, while yet having the assurance of caring, knowledgeable hosts. We spent an enjoyable week at Casa Albright. Rod & Barb are excellent hosts. The accomodations are excellent and well stocked with dishes, kitchen applicances, beach chairs, towels, and coolers. The beach is great and empty. We spent 4-5 hours on the beach one day and only saw one person. We rode a 4-wheeler on miles of empty beach and fun dirt roads. If great empty beaches is what you want, Casa Albright is it. We hope to come back soon.

We spent 2 quiet relaxing weeks at Casa Albright. It is located on a magnificant stretch of sandy beach midway between BuenaVista and Rancho Leonora. Rod and Barb were very friendly and helpful. The unit was clean and comfortable. Great fishing, great views, great sunshine and great hosts. What more could you ask for!! We will be back. Debbie and Brian

Casa Albright was the highlight of our Baja vacation. This is a gorgeous location, on a quiet secluded beach, with great snorkeling near by. The accommodations were beyond our expectations. The unit is very well kept with everything you will need and a beautiful view. If this is not enough, Rod and Barb are extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely return on our next Baja trip.

From the "Pam and Paul" signs with arrows on the road to guide us, to the espresso machine, crockpot, even an oven(for Pam) and a whole bunch of tools (for Paul), to the t-shirt fabric bed linens and 25 big steps to warm clear silky waters to Barb and Rod-- the best. Thank you guys soo much. We'll see you next year. Pam and Paul

Rod and Barb were wonderful hosts! They were always there to answer questions, but never in the way. We stayed in Baja for two months and should have stayed with Rod and Barb the entire time! It was by far, the best place we stayed and we hope to return soon! Melisa & Michael

My wife and I spent 30 wonderful days at Rod and Barb's duplex, the unit exceeded our expectations. The house is located in a very quiet area shared with a few other homes, a great place to relax. Within 6 miles you have Buena Vista and Los Barriles, which offer a good selection of restaurants, there is also a fairly well stocked grocery store. This is a great place to use as base camp for exploring the nearby area, Cabo San Lucas (less than a 1 1/2 hour drive) or take a day trip to the pacific side on Hwy 19 to view the beautiful coast line. Regardless of what activities you like it would be very difficult to find any better location. The big plus (no addition charge)is Rod and Barb, two of the nicest people you're going to meet. Thank you Rod And Barb, see you next year.

Barry and I stayed at Rod and Barb's lovely home the last week in October 2004. We were extremely pleased with our whole visit. Barry and Rod went fishing one day while I lounged on the beach right out the front door of our house. I saw bat rays and the mariposa's (yellow butterflies) were so thick I could almost reach out my hand to touch them. We both highly recommend this spot for a great vacation. Clean, quiet, perfect.

Wow. We just got back from the most relaxing and adventurous vacation you could imagine. We stayed at Casa Albright for 12 glorious days. Everything was beyond our expectations. This casita is really ON a gorgeous and quiet beach with breathtaking views of the mountains and Sea of Cortez. The house was spotless and roomy. Snorkeling is an easy walk away and out-of-this-world. Exploring the arroyos and hillsides on ATVs is exhilerating. Unspoiled natural beauty is everywhere. The Albrights, both Barb and Rod, could not have been better hosts. Within a day we felt a warm friendship. Without a doubt, we feel very fortunate to have met them and to have been able to stay in this amazing and magical spot. Hears to Barb and Rod for making this available to people. It really is a treasure!
