"The Hut", as we repeat guests have come to call it, is truly a home away from home. It is a wonderful haven where you can either escape or take part in the busy Avalon township just at the bottom of the street. I love summer on the island with its carnival atmosphere and cocktail-service on the beach, but the off-season is also a wonderful time to see the island in its more natural state - early morning walks along the waterfront past the Casino and on down to Descanso Beach or watching a gentle rain fall through the floor-length living room windows. The house is leveled in such a way that it is not to big for two people or to small for a family of ten. The well-equip kitchen makes it a pleasure to cook meals, and the numerous amenities and well-organized manner of the house make it a pleasure to arrive and make the space your own. The upper level has lovely natural light as well as a beautiful parquet floor. Whether you are there at the height of the busy summer season or there in quiet November, the Hut is a lovely retreat from the world with its many decks and lovely views... I have been known it just follow the sun around all day with a sunhat and a book from deck to deck.

Great Island Retreat

We think this is a great island house for a vacation with family with young adult children or for adults looking for fun get away or retreat. We have stayed here 3 years running and looking forward to our trip this summer. Home is large and comfortable. Nicely decorated with full amenities. Just a walk up the hill from town so not noisy at night but close enough to get to the beach and action when you want. Great deck area, don't have to leave the place if you don't want to. Highly recommend.

This rental has become part of our family summer ritual. It is like going home, not like an impersonal rental. The house is incredibly equipped...the barbecue to the cooking utensils to the available amenities at hand make it so easy for us. We enjoy the beach and summer fray, but it's so wonderful to come back to the property and the peace and quiet. The deck is also great for sunning as well as eating outdoors.The house is large enough, with two separate living areas so that some folks can TV downstairs, and upstairs for reading or games or vice-versa. Avalon is a little peace of heaven, close and easily accessible and this rental is an integral part of our enjoyment.

Great catalina home!

We have been to this vacation home the past two summers, and are looking forward to our stay there again this coming July. Many properties on the island are small. This property is spacious. Having two stories is nice when you are with a group. We found the house to be clean, comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen has everything you could need. There is a nice deck where we enjoyed barbequing the fish we caught (I recommend Joe's Rent-A-Boat for a fun day on the water). The location is excellent. It is on a nice quiet street way from the harbor, but just a quick walk downhill into the heart of Avalon. We use the golf cart -- it's a fabulous and fun way to get around town and go over to Descanso beach. Owners are very responsive and easy to work with. Definitely recommend this property!
