Girls Trip

Beautiful home on beautiful property. There were 5 of us gals and we were delighted with the home. We really enjoyed sitting in the den with the fireplace in the evenings, the great kitchen - plenty of room for all 5 of us cooks to work, and comfortable furnisings - including the bed! We also appreciated the stocked spice pantry! We had some cool but sunny days and were able to spend a lot of time on the back patio enjoying the view and the wildlife. We highly recommend the property!

Spent the weekend with 9 girlfriends to celebrate a milestone birthday. The house was perfect; roomy, large kitchen & dining room. Had every appliance & gadget that you would ever need! Beautiful views. Short distance to Guerneville & Healdsburg. Gorgeous deck & enough bedroom & bathrooms for everyone.

Delightful Wine Country Girl's Weekend Get-Away

Guest: Karen b. (Austin, TX)
Date of Stay: 02/03/12 Review Submitted: 03/02/12

This was the perfect place for a girl's weekend get-away. The home was comfortable, cozy and well appointed. It was exactly what we expected from the listing and the owners were a pleasure to communicate with and helpful during the booking process. It is the perfect 'home base' location for a wine country weekend, a short drive from the Alexander Valley wineries and Healdsburg's town square. I would stay again and recommend the house to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay in the Sonoma Wine Country.

The perfect wine country vacation home

Guest: Kristie B.
Date of Stay: 01/13/12 Review Submitted: 01/19/12

While looking for a rental home for an engagement party of 10 people, I came across this website. I had high hopes, so did everyone else. This house did not disappoint. The house sits on a hill with a breathtaking view. The sunrises are spectacular, either viewing from inside or out. The living room is lined with windows to enjoy this picturesque view. The kitchen is amazing. Open and spacious, so jealous I don't have that as my own. You have every appliance possibly needed. And for you coffee lovers - there is a coffee machine for every type of coffee desired - from espresso to cappaccino to fresh ground to regular. And I have to say that long table was great to have during dinner. Everyone sitting around talking, discussing, and joking - we had the whole table rolling with laughter. For breakfast, we used the outside dining table, it was just awesome. The beds themselves were nice and comfy. Loved the down and fleeced blankets. Also, you can take a nice, strong, hearty walk to the lake. They have a clubhouse where you can have a picnic, grill, play tennis, volleyball, swim in the lake, etc. The vineyards are not too far, there are several within a 10 mile radius. All in all, it was a great house, great location, and I would definitely stay there again! We even recommended to several people while we were out wine-tasting. If you are looking for serenity and quietness, this is the place. If you are looking for something that is spacious, modern, and equipped, this is it. You will not be sorry.

Perfect weekend getaway with friend and family

Guest: Michelle D. (Mill Valley, California)

We stayed at this beautiful and well appointed house for a long weekend with friends and it couldn't have been more perfect. The house is spacious and the views are spectacular. The gorgeous open kitchen and oversized dining table created a perfect setting for the 8 of us to cook and dine together. The decks on the back of the house were a great place to chill out with a good book or just relax and soak in the beautiful view. The house is clean and well maintained, and the furniture is tasteful, modern and comfortable. This is the second time we've stayed in this house and we hated to see the weekend end. It's an ideal getaway and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Our recent stay

Guest: Elke (San Jose, CA)

Four friends stayed at this very clean home last weekend while up in wine country. The home feels huge, due to the layout and furnishings. There is a kitchen table that seats 12 and a master suite off to one side of the house. The photos on the site are accurate. We were very happy with our home choice for the weekend. The house is about 15 minutes from Healdsburg and closer to Geyserville. We really felt like we had a large house in the country! Owner was very easy to work with and quick to respond to questions. We would gladly return.

Ideal for Girls Weekend

Guest: Evyn Z. (New York, NY)
Date of Stay: 10/13/11 Review Submitted: 10/30/11

This home worked wonderfully for our 2nd annual "Girls Gone Wine" weekend, with 8 women (combination of sisters, cousins & childhood friends in our 50's). The bedrooms and sleeping arrangement allowed most of us to have our own bed (difficult to find since most houses are set up for couples sleeping together). And there was plenty of bathroom space for all of us to get ready. We were all able to gather around the kitchen table at breakfast or relax out on the deck with wine & cheese. The home is beautifully decorated to feel warm and sophisticated -- I'd be happy to live there full-time. Our group went walking in the neighborhood (finding a house with clever artwork integrated into the backyard which was fun for us to explore) and we went for an easy hike at the nearby Vineyard Club. The house is set up the in hills but is an easy drive to restaurants & wineries. The owner provided all the information we needed to fully enjoy our stay. I would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful property, beautiful home

Guest: JV (Concord, CA )
Date of Stay: 10/06/11 Review Submitted: 10/24/11

This is the second time I've stayed at this spacious Sonoma Co. home and I'm sure I will be back again. What I love the most is the large, well-appointed and fully functional kitchen and dining area. We really enjoyed creating meals for 8 adults and sitting down at the large table and sharing a great meal together with beautiful views off the back deck. The location is far enough out there to feel quiet and secluded, but a short drive to several excellent wineries in the Dry Creek Valley appellation, the locale for some of California's best Zinfandel vineyards. We've visited a bit late in the season to enjoy the lake club, but it looks live a fantastic place to spend a warm summer day. Maybe our next trip will be during the summer months. The house is ideal for four couples, every couple has a private room, but the house can easily accommodate two or even three families of four as there are beds for up to 12 and abundant carpeted floor space. And if you're like me, laying out a sleeping bag or quilt on one of the daybeds on the back deck and spending the night under the stars is a treat, so count two more places to sleep. It is a great place for a large family gathering. If you cycle, it's a great spot to start a tour of the area's many lightly trafficked back roads and beautiful scenery, but take a tip and start and end your ride down the hill from the property and use a car shuttle to get back up to the house. The last mile or so is quite steep, at least 10% grade in places, maybe more. Makes for beautiful views at the house, though.

The house is beautiful, we enjoyed the views and the wonderfully equipped kitchen although we didn't do much cooking. Each room done in such a comfortable and thoughtful way. Opening the drapes and watching the sun rise was really a treat! The pears and figs were amazing. The tiny bit of rain did not dampen our adventures. We really enjoyed the weekend. I think it will be a repeat for family members. Hope we can come and stay again when we don't have to be rushing off to rehearsals, wedding or whatever. Truly a place to relax and enjoy. Thank you.

Perfect Spot of our Family Vacation

Guest: Zoon N.
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/30/11

3 generations of our family spent a week together in August -- including our 70 year old parents to a 3 week old and 1 year old. This home was absolutely perfect for all. The house is gorgeous, and we felt at home the moment we arrived . It has plenty of room, is beautifully decorated, has a world class kitchen with all one needs to spend time cooking (and eating!) together, and has a large deck with breathtaking views and compfortable furniture. There was attention to every detail, and the home was spot less. The location also worked very well. We were close to Healdsburg and spent Tuesday night in the square enjoying a free concert. We were close to wine tasting on Dry Creek Road. And, the lake that is within walking distance was a perfect place to take an afternoon swim. We'll be back!

A warning to anyone considering renting this property!!!

Guest: Bonnie (Bonner Springs, KS)
Date of Stay: 07/27/11 Review Submitted: 08/29/11

My husband and I are in our 60's and have traveled extensively domestically and internationally. We have rented houses worldwide. The house in Geyserville, CA we rented for a special family holiday has 2 pros, but many cons. PROS: 1. Beautiful view 2. Nice layout- central meeting/ eating area with bedrooms on either wing. CONS: (lots of Health and Safety issues) 1. Mice/ mice poop/ dead mice- We were told to clean it up ourselves - -the clean up occurred daily 2. One member of our group slept on the floor because the sofa bed kept folding up on her. Consequently, she was bitten by a cousin of the brown recluse spider. She has countless medical bills and loss of work due to this situation. *** House needs an exterminator inside and out. 3. Deck off eat-in kitchen- lots of nails sticking up, warped boards, and a large hole in the deck. I worried the entire time that the 2 or 3 year old would get their foot stuck in the deck /fall through the deck, or someone in our party would fall and break something. 4. Kid's room had wall plug outlets with the plate covers continuously falling off- the plate covers would fall off when you would walk by ****extremely unsafe. 5. Large swing set outside was falling over- Dangerous and a big tease to our children. 6. The house was generally not clean- There was dirt under the couches and beds. The kitchen was very unorganized and also very dirty. We had to clean up before we could ever cook in it. 7. Broken kids and adult chairs on the deck- they should be repaired or thrown away. On a final note: The lady, Cathy, my daughter corresponded with, and ultimately rented the house from was very nice until she received our deposit and full payment for the house (which was required before our arrival), then she became extremely rude. She told my daughter off multiple times and told her she did not know anything about renting a house. In addition, Cathy did not respond to any of our problems in a timely manner and indicated we were bothering her. In my opinion, she needs to stop renting to clients, or step up to the plate when problems arise. The people hired to clean the house should be more orderly and do a much better job of cleaning the entire house. Too much, was too dirty! A warning to anyone considering renting this property!!!

Owner response:We are so sorry that these renters were not happy with their experience. To be frank, it’s the first negative review we’ve gotten, out of over 50, in 7 years. At the same time, we take their feedback seriously, and have reviewed the complaints in detail, as we’re always open to improving our renters’ experience. In doing so, we found this renter’s review to be grossly inaccurate. We’re on 6+ acres above the vineyards and Russian River, surrounded by trees, grass, and many living things – most benign, and a few not so. One always has to be aware and thoughtful of the surroundings. Part of the joy of our property is that it is surrounded by natural beauty -it is not and cannot be, a sterile environment. Contrary to the reviewer’s remarks, the house had been cleaned thoroughly a week prior to the renters’ arrival. We’ve done everything we can do to keep all of the country critters on the outside, but occasionally, one does get in. In this case it was a mouse that did leave tell-tale evidence. The safest, most environmentally sound option to get rid of a mouse, and it was just one field mouse, is to use a trap. We responded to the renter, and apologized profusely for the mouse. We asked the renter what was a fair and reasonable monetary compensation. The renter asked for what we believed was an unreasonable amount of compensation. Also, as a result of this event, we have changed our procedures. Even if there is a week between rentals, we will always have our cleaning service inspect the house the morning of every new arrival, making sure it meets our high standards of cleanliness. That being said, the other complaints listed are simply unfounded. The sofa bed is a high quality one from Room & Board; spider bites can happen outside or inside – though we’ve had no other reports of these over the 7 years we’ve owned this property. We’re sorry it happened, but certainly can’t take responsibility for such a random event. As for the deck, it is a rough surface, but certainly does not have nails sticking up. We do encourage renters to wear shoes outside of the house. There is a small knothole in the deck, about 4 feet from the sliding door of the dining room/kitchen, too small to be a danger to anyone, young or old. The homemade Adirondack chairs have aged gracefully at the edge of our property, and are meant to be rustic. Again, we are sorry these renters did not enjoy our home as every other renter has done.

not what we expected or paid for

Guest: Vacationer (Raleigh)
Date of Stay: 07/27/11 Review Submitted: 08/29/11

With wonderful pictures and stellar reviews, this house seemed to be the right place to stay for our family vacation, but when we walked into the house on our arrival day what greeted us was not wonderful. While the house is nice and the views are pretty, the house looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. In addition, we found mice droppings in nearly every room in the house. We spent the first night of our vacation cleaning the house. After contacting the Cathy (one of the owners) repeatedly about the mice situation, she finally got back in touch with me over 48 hours later and told me that there were traps in the laundry area, and made no effort to correct the situation. We had two toddlers and two infants staying at the house, we were not about to set up traps inside the house for them to get hurt on… we continued to have mice droppings inside the house for 5 of our 9day stay. In addition to the mice droppings there were many other items that were issues in the house that vacationers should not have to deal with; (a few of them were) The pull out couch sofa is not fit for sleeping. We had to move the mattress to the ground in order for our family member to get a good night sleep. Consequently, the last night of our stay she was bitten by a poisonous (cousin of the brown recluse) spider and had to go to the emergency room. The back deck had many nails sticking as well as there was a gaping hole right by the kitchen sliding door that could possibly cause injury to anyone who may not be aware of it. There are blue ottomans to the Adirondack chairs that are out in the field, a nice place to try to have a glass of wine, but they were busted apart and had rusted nails and screws sticking out of them. Even though the hot tub was not listed as able to be used, there was a dead and decaying mouse in a puddle of water inside of it. Cathy (the owner) told my husband she was willing to take steps to correct these issues and would discuss compensation, but when the time came to confer, she was unreachable and un-willing to give any type of amends. Sonoma County and Geyersville, CA are wonderful and we will visit again, but I will never stay at this house again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Vacationers beware.

Perfect Place to Celebrate My Dad's retirement

Guest: Sarah
Date of Stay: 07/18/11 Review Submitted: 08/03/11

In celebration of my Dad's retirement, we rounding up our family from UK, US and Australia, and had the most pleasurable and enjoyable family get together here in June. We had a perfect week and cannot recommend it highly enough for such a special event. With my parents and siblings and partners, ourselves with young children, the size and layout of the house worked beautifully. The big living space was perfect for relaxing and chatting, and the kitchen beautifully appointed for the competitive cook ups that we took turns executing each day. The lawn out the back is a great space for kids to kick a ball and run around with full view of the house, and the day beds were such a restful place to curl up with a book or relax with an evening drink. Our only minor criticism with the room arrangement was that the den had only a curtain as a door, making it unsuitable as a child's room while adults were chatting in the nearby living space so our lot all packed into the one bunk/double room with a portacot - not that it was a major problem. We loved the nearby vineyard club and swam at the lake twice and played in the playground several times too. The nearby towns of Geyserville and especially Healdsburg were lovely to visit, and we highly recommend Big John's Market in Healdsburg for all the gourmet produce to create fantastic meals in the kitchen. It is really was a lovely home away from home, and we hope to come back one day for a similar event. Thank you Cathy.

This was a spectacular setting for our family gathering. The home was comfortable and well maintained. The children aged 2-8 years were safe and had plenty to keep them entertained: a spacious lawn area for kicking a ball and just enough property (fenced) to entice their imaginations. The nearby lake was lovely. Adults and children took full advantage of the fun of splashing and playing together. The views from the deck are stunning. It was a wonderful place to relax with a book, a cup of morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Wineries and shopping are within easy driving distance. The owner was very gracious, helpful and respectful. Plus the weather was just the right amount of heat to keep our Washington family happy!

A group of friends and I rented this unit for a wedding over the July 4th weekend and we couldn't have been happier. The house is charming and spacious. The surrounding property is gorgeous. It was the perfect setting to relax and enjoy each other's company. The nearby lake provided a serene retreat as well. Everything in Sonoma is close, but there was almost no need to leave the house. Thank you Cathy for a fantastic and joyous experience!

I stayed in Cathy's home with my husband and a group of friends in January and everything was perfect. The house is spacious, beautifully decorated and most important, comfy. The kitchen is beautiful and incredibly well stocked. We loved the deck, spending endless hours soaking up the winter sun, reading, listening to music, and playing bocce on the lawn. One of the best weekends I can remember in a very long time. Look no further---you should stay here. We will be back for sure.

The house was perfect for our Thanksgiving weekend stay. Our group cooked extensively and found the kitchen stocked with everything we could possibly imagine! The kitchen and dining area was very spacious. The bedrooms were large, clean, and well-organized. The owner was very helpful before and during the trip with pre-arrival instructions and was in touch with us during our stay as well. The house is ~10 mins from 101, with many wineries and restaurants within a short drive. Overall, we loved our stay and hope we come back!

I planned a mother daughters trip for nine of us. Having chose this property was an incredible find. We were lucky enough to have 5 days of mid 70s & low 80s in November, so we were able to enjoy the back decks and views of surrounding areas. It is a great location 20 min to Healdsburg and not much futher to Napa. Home is well equiped and made for a wonderful time. We all hope we will be able to return.

Mother/daughters trips--Awesome!

Guest: Cheryl (Grand Island, NY)
Date of Stay: 11/10/10 Review Submitted: 11/21/10

I planned a mother daughters trip for nine of us. Having chose this property was an incredible find. We were lucky enough to have 5 days of mid 70s & low 80s in November, so we were able to enjoy the back decks and views of surrounding areas. It is a great location 20 min to Healdsburg and not much futher to Napa. Home is well equiped and made for a wonderful time. We all hope we will be able to return.

FABULOUS "home base" for our daughter's wedding

Date of Stay: 09/29/10 Review Submitted: 10/05/10

Our family of eleven, ages 60+ to 27 months, had the privlege of calling this house "home" for five days while we were in Geyserville for our daughter's wedding this past weekend. The sleeping arrangements worked out really well for all of us. The baby's portacrib could be set off in a VERY quiet corner of the house. It was fantastic having a stocked kitchen for all our meal preparations. We had many happy meals around the large and comfortable dining table. The wedding photographer took full advantage of the beautiful view and trees to frame some fantastic pictures of our beautiful bride. We were particularly happy to have had the central air conditioning as the first few days were really hot. Kathy was extremely helpful and informative as we were making our plans for our trip to the Sonoma Valley. A HUGE thank you from all of us for a memorable trip.

This property is absolutely gorgeous. My family of ten stayed here in July 2010. The house has a decorated is modern , contemporary style. The heart of this home is the kitchen and dining room. The table was long and it could seat 12. The beautiful views was accessible from the kitchen and dining room. The owner(s) is very helpful and generous. She even put out 2 bottles of local wine for us to sample. We also love the access to the private lake. In an all it was a perfect retreat. I am going to recommend this house to my friends and family for those needing a place for 8 or more. I can't wait to come back

A wonderful place for family or couples to relax, enjoy the scenery, and be together in comfort - with all the amenities. This is a beautiful vacation getaway house, in a quiet setting with a view. It is close enough to everything in Sonoma but removed for quiet and relaxation. A private small lake for swimming and plenty of activities for kids for family outings. Definitely recommend this house and we'll be back again!

Perfect Getaway

Guest: Anita&Henry (SF Bay Area)
Date of Stay: 05/14/10 Review Submitted: 05/26/10

This is our second stay in this wonderful home. I came with a group of friends last July and enjoyed our stay so much that this time I brought my siblings and their spouses. We were all awed at this well-maintained spacious home, fully furnished kitchen, and a perfect floor plan that provides everyone privacy. We spent hours at the deck, lounging on the day beds or having an outdoor lunch. We checked out the private member club house this time; grassy lawn, fully equipped kitchen, picnic tables, BBQ grill and a lake. They even provide boats and kayak for your use. This home is so perfect that I am finding this as my second home away from home and we are returning AGAIN in two months, with the same group who came last year. They already told me they are so much looking forward to it that they can't wait anymore. Thanks Cathy again for sharing your home with us.

This was the absolute perfect location for a girl's weekend. There was plenty of private and group space, and the kitchen, where we had our best hangout time and serious and silly discussions, was fabulous!! It is a quiet, safe, and very beautiful neighborhood, easily accessible to the wonders of California wine country. The owners are terribly gracious and generous, and we all commented on how comfortable the mattresses were. Highly recommended!

10 of the girls got together for a truly memorable wine tasting weekend in this lovely abode! There was plenty of space for privacy and togetherness, and a fabulous kitchen which is where we hung out much of the time. The neighborhood was very quiet, private, and remote, yet easily accessible to the divine Dry Creek Valley and its wonderful wines. The owners have made this a very comfortable home and are so generous about sharing their lovely and comforting finishing touches. We hope to be back again next year, or have the opportunity to try out their Paris flats!

This property was perfect for our group of 8. There was plenty of room, a large kitchen and dining area and a great back porch. The best part was it's location. Walking distance to a lake with a sandy beach, tennis courts, basketball courts and a ping pong table. And it's a couple minutes drive to the Casino, the town of Geyserville and to many great wineries.

The perfect house for our Mother/Daughter Bachelorette Getaway. The views from the house are amazing, and the layout and kitchen were great for our large group of 11. We enjoyed one day wine-tasting at a number of the nearby wineries, and the rest of the time enjoying the house and back deck. Everyone agreed that it couldn't have been better. Thank you, Cathy, for opening your home to us.

I was part of a group of 10 ladies that stayed in your home 3 nights over MLK weekend. We get together once a year just to scrapbook and enjoy ourselves. Not only was your house wonderful to be in, but it was a great scrap booking house! I especially loved staying in the "Princess H" room! I loved the cheerful colors and decor and sleeping in the bottom bunk and giggling with my mom and niece. The other ladies said their beds were very comfortable and melted into them. One especially enjoyed sitting up in bed and looking directly out across the hillsides for miles. The bathrooms were all very nice and the kitchen was spacious and well equipped. Our group enjoyed all sitting and dining together at the big long table in the dining room and laughing and sharing stories. The view and surrounding countryside was lovely, too. We saw a few deer, and several ladies took a walk up and along the "fire road"! All of us took turns cooking in the kitchen and enjoyed the bar area next to the stove to talk and sip wine. A very nice touch was the invite to try any of the wines in the wine rack! The dimmer lights all over the house created a nice ambiance and a variety of moods. The kitchen was fully stocked with state of the art kitchenware, gadgets, and unusual spices which were there to be used. We found that the ovens took a little more time to cook which we attributed to the altitude. There were many unusual and comfortable chairs to sit with or away from everyone. The house was quiet with well insulated walls. We enjoyed having two media areas; one room for a movie, and another for just music. We found our feet got a little cold on the hardwood floors, but one gal brought fluffy socks for all of us! None of us left to go wine tasting, although there were quite a few wineries close by. Only two of us stopped at Jimtown for lunch prior to our arrival, which was excellent. Thank you for sharing your home! We want to come back!

Beautiful and well maintained home that is perfect for a large group. We rented this home for a family getaway (4 children under 3 and 6 adults) and it was perfect for all of us. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything you could possibly think of. If you are there during warm weather, you will most likely spend most of your time enjoying the amazing views and property. Thank you to Cathy for opening her home to us.
