We rented the house for a week and had 5 adults and two children under 3. The house was nice and well-appointed and had more than enough space for us. The location was just incredible though. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to get to the beach via a 90-second walk and to stores, restaurants, and coffee (did I mention 2 kids under 3) in a 2-3 minute walk in the other direction. We'll definitely be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This was our first stay at 19 Bittern and our second house rental on HHI. As others have said, this is a very comfortable, clean, and great location house. We had 6 adults and 2 kids and there was plenty of room for everyone. With two toddlers in tow, the short walk to the beach with a wagon every day was great. We loved the open living room and my family really enjoyed late afternoons and mornings on the front porch--drinking coffee, having conversation, and just relaxing. I think we calculated you could sit 16 people on the porch chairs! The biggest bonus was the responsiveness of the owner. As a renter who had to worry about several relatives booking airfare, reserving rental cars, packing, etc., what a breath of fresh air that my emails were answered within minutes to hours—this makes a huge difference to many of us. I had a stressful booking last year with a VRBO owner to try and confirm rental dates, contract, etc., while I watched the airfares fluctuate every day and the cost of the vacation increasing. Owner is a joy to work with and all the wonderful extras like toys, chairs, wireless internet, stocked kitchen, starter supplies, large dining table, patio hose to rinse off sand, and nice grill made all the difference.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We LOVE your house, the location and the neighbors. The new fixtures, family room furniture and bathroom vanities are fantastic! we always have everything we need and plenty of room. My family had a great time staying at 19 Bittern. The house had everything our family needed for a fun week. It is just steps to the beach and a short walk to Coligny, which we found very convenient having a 2 year old and 7 month old. The kitchen is fully stocked and there are plenty of beach chairs and toys provided. The owner of the property was alway very helpful and friendly when dealing with him. We hope to make 19 Bittern part of our new family tradition when visiting HHI every summer. Thank you for allowing our family to make special memories in your home!Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at your beach house at 19 Bittern Street. It was a nice location, close to the beach, on a quiet street, close to shopping and restaurants, with lots of shade. The beach house had very comfortable beds, nice showers, roomy kitchen with ample seating for our family. All the appliances were in good working condition, along with the washer and dryer. It was very comfortable and clean. We would definitely rent it again for a future beach vacation. We felt the price was a good value too. Thanks Scott, for all your help and answers to our questions prior to our visit, and your restaurant recommendations, plus directions. If any downfalls, a week just goes by too quickly. WE STAYED AT THIS HOUSE FOR TWO WEEKS THIS SUMMER, THE FIRST WEEK WE INVITED MY FAMILY TO JOIN US AND THE 2ND WEEK , MY HUSBANDS FAMILY CAME DOWN. WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO HHI FOR VACATION FOR THE PAST 6 YRS AND THIS HOUSE WAS JUST AMAZING. THE PICTURES DON'T DO IT JUSTICE. IT WAS SO CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. THE BEACH WAS PRIVATE/ NOT CROWDED, AND THE HOUSE WAS EQUIPPED WITH EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. WE WERE SO PLEASED WITH OUR VACATION. WE WILL STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS HOUSE TO ANY FAMILY LOOKING FOR A NICE HOUSE . THE HOUSE WAS VERY CLEAN, AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. IT IS SO CLOSE TO COLIGNY PLAZA AND LOTS OF RESTAURANTS. WE RODE OUR BIKES TO EAT AND TO SHOP, AND JUST ENJOY THE SCENERY. 19 Bittern has been a part of our family's vacations since the owners first purchased the home in the early 80's. This location is so accesible to everything on the island that you could ever want and more. For our family, it's just not a vacation if we don't stay in this particular house. We absolutely love it and always have, for the last 28 years or so that we have been staying there. Hilton Head Island is a treasure, but the private beach access and the close proximity to Coligny Plaza, the bakery, the shopping and dining and everything else makes this house the PERFECT vacation spot on HHI. It's a family tradition that we recommend and that we plan to continue every year. Thanks to the owners for making it such a treat for us every year without fail.Did you find this review helpful? This was our first stay in this House but our 15th year on Hilton Head and we can't think of a better place to stay. The house had a great open living space for a large group and was so close to the beach and Coligny. Location, Location, Location! This is the perfect spot on HHI. The beach could not be better, you are far enough away from the hotels that you don’t fight for a spot on the beach, yet you are close enough to walk to Coligny Plaza to cool off. Don’t feel like putting your make-up on to go out for dinner? Enjoy the evening on the deck with some hot dogs on the grill. We have vacationed at this house for years and would never think of staying anywhere else on the island. It cannot be matched for the quality and price!Did you find this review helpful? The house was exactly as pictured. It was very nice and clean. The locaton was perfect -- so close to the beach and shops, ice cream, Java Joe's! Enjoyed the walking/bath path for walks each morning. We had a perfect time in this vacation rental. Located minutes from the beautiful North Forest Beach where we found sand dollars, star fish and a variety of other sea shells. Great for the kids! The house was amazing. The deck was great to unwind and the house was comfortable and relaxing. We were walking distance to Caligny Plaza where we could find everything we needed. Great bike rides through ocean front homes! Would highly recommend this house. Great price! Great time.Owner response: I wanted to add that this family rented two separate weeks this season. They went with her side of the family and enjoyed it so much they rented another week to vacation with his family.

What a great vacation house!! We have vacationed on HHI for years, and this house is, by far, our favorite. It is super close to the beach (perfect for trips back to the house with kids), clean, and within walking distance to everything (a bakery, grocery store, multiple restaurants, shopping, outdoor shows for kids, ice cream shop, etc.). We really enjoyed our stay. This house was 100 yards from the beach and also close to Coligny Plaza. It was very clean and well furnished. We have enjoyed your home as our family summer vacation spot for over 20 years. The house has unequalled value for the size and convenience to the beach and walking distance to shopping/entertainment.
