We loved it! A clean, quiet, perfect place to stay, with plenty of space and nice furnishings. A wonderful location and neighborhood. I'm an early morning coffee guy and there were great choices in every direction. We liked having room to spread out, to make our own breakfasts, to wake up at different times. The subway is about a minute away. The neighborhood is great for walking. And Jamie offers good information on what to do, how to do it, without being intrusive. If you want a place that feels like home when you are away from home, in Brooklyn, I don't think you can do better than the Carroll Gardens House!

Stayed in Brooklyn whilst visiting New York as we wanted somewhere vibrant but quieter to make out base. The apartments had been recommended to us and we were expecting somewhere nice but this was even nicer than we expected. The apartment was clean and welcoming and had been furnished with thought and care, it felt like home from home the moment we arrived. The bedrooms were nicely furnished with plenty of closet space and the beds were very comfortable. All modern conveniences were provided, including a dishwasher. However we little needed to use the excellent kitchen as the apartment is located so conveniently near to so many excellent restaurants, great delis and coffee shops. The subway was close to hand and getting in to Manhattan was quick and easy although the Carroll Gardens neighbourhood was great and you could easily spend the day shopping and eating and enjoying the River views in Brooklyn. Can not recommend this place enough and can not wait to go back, we know where we will be staying on our next trip to New York.

Recommended for:Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A perfect spot for exploring Brooklyn & New York City. Subway situated on the corner, park across the road, great restaurants close by as well as an organic grocery. Accomodation cosy, comfortable & ideal for our family of 5.

Jamie was wonderful, we Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood was lovely and close to many amenities and subway. There is a laundromat and nice bagel shop within 1/2 block. Our unit had a lot of room (bathroom a little small, but normal for NY). Jamie keeps the place very clean. It was as true brownstone experience. We would not hesitate to recommend Carrol Gardens. My family (2 adults & 2 children) stayed in this Brownstone for 10 days and really enjoyed ourselves. The owners were very helpful and close by just in case you have any questions or need anything. The Brownstone itself was spacious enough for a family of four and very well maintained. What we really enjoyed most was staying in Brooklyn. The area was very safe and there are so many restaurants and shops in the area, making it a nice place to go for a walk in the evening. The subway entrance is only a 30 second walk from the Brownstone and the trip to Manhattan is about 25 minutes. The neighborhood is a great place to come home to at the end of the day. It gives you a break from all the other tourists in Manhattan. I would definitely stay here again.

The space is wide and quiet, clean and nice, This a very best place to stay in a quite district, 3 minutes from the safe subway, 15 minutes from Manhattan, with nices differents shops & restraurants around Carroll Gardens Browstone, even a good cheese dealer... I will recommend this place to all my friends and family

Myself and 3 other ladies visited for 5 nites and the apt. was perfect. Safe neighborhood, close to subway, wonderful restaurants in neighborhood, our favorite ZAYTOONS on Smith street. The apt. was very clean, roomy, comfortable and we had everything we needed, just like home!! Quick subway ride to Manhattan and Joe and Jamie were awsome. Anything we needed they were great to help us. This apt. would be perfect for a family with the park right across the street, children can enjoy this location too. I highly recommend this Carol Garden Apt to everyone. This apt. made our NY vacation complete. Thanks so much to Jo and Jamie. I look forward to my next visit.

Super apartment in great neighborhood

Our family of four had a wonderful stay in this Carroll Gardens property in July 2010. The apartment is spacious and clean and located in a wonderful, safe neighborhood in Brooklyn. We enjoyed the proximity to a great playground as well as easy access to the F train at Carroll Street only a half a block away. There are great restaurants and fun shopping close by. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and super helpful. We hope to be back soon!

This is really a "Home away from home" for me. I have a grandchild just 2 blocks from the apartment and have been a regular guest. Joe and Jamie have made a lovely and comfortable place to enjoy and relax in. I just wouldn't stay anywhere else (unless they're booked). The apartment is a great value for Brooklyn which suffers from a lack of hotel accommodation near neighborhoods. This apartment is also just steps away from the F train and many great restaurants. Perfect!

My daughter and I had a "girl's weekend" at your brownstone. The location was great - literally just a few steps from the subway terminal. We went all over Manhattan - saw Wicked, ate some wonderful food (there are some good restaurants within a block of the property also), and shopped ALOT. When we tired of shopping, we went to some of the museums. All in all, a great location. The brownstone makes you feel like you're getting the true New York experience. There's a really nice park across the street for the kids. We'd definately come back.

This is a great apartment in a beautiful location with super easy access to the subway into the City. Stayed here with my brother so it was the perfect set up – we each had our own bedroom spaces but then we could hang out together in the common areas, including that fabulous outdoor deck that’s been mentioned in other comments. Very spacious & comfortable, bright, clean & well cared for. Jamie made this all so easy to arrange and was very gracious about accommodating our schedule. Highly recommended.

This was a really great place to stay!! The subway was right down the street, and it was a short ride into Manhattan. The house itself was clean, quiet and perfect. Joe and Jamie were wonderful hosts- unobtrusive but there if you need them.

Our second stay was just as enjoyable as our first. With great shops, restaurants, the subway, a park, and the Brooklyn Bridge all within walking distance of the apt., the location is perfect. The apt. is roomy and comfortable with everything we need. So much better than a hotel. We'll be back.

We stayed at this property for a week in April of 2009. It was clean and spacious and the landlords were very nice and helpful. The location is great--a quiet area of Brooklyn away from the hustle of NYC but still within very easy reach of The Big Apple. The Subway, which every tourist should get acquainted with, is on the corner of the street! I would recommend this place to anyone.

We can't say enough to describe our stay at CGH. The neighborhood was so quaint that it reminded us of Sesame Street in a way. The park across the street (and I mean a stone's throw) was perfect for our 3 yr old and 1 yr old. The apartment was large enough for our family, very clean, and very comfortable. The restaurants in the neighborhood were high quality yet affordable. And Sal's gelato, italian ices, and sorbetto's were the cherry on top. We had a great 9-day stay over the Christmas/New York break. Fabulous, warm house. Great location, groovy neighbourhood with yummy food shops. Subway station in same block. We stayed a week in June 2009 and had a wonderful time. The location of this property was excellent, close to a number of good restaurants and just a minute from the subway. Greetings All, I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we enjoyed our trip to NYC. Living in your brownstone was a complete joy. We fell in love with Carroll Gardens. Our trip went smoothly except for the two times we took the wrong subway. We found the people of New York City very friendly and helpful, when we looked lost. We were able to do everything we had planned. Seeing the Unisphere from the 1964-65 World's Fair was a dream come true for me. I collect mementos from this fair. Walking through Brooklyn Heights and across the Brooklyn Bridge was amazing. Thanks for letting us borrow the Brooklyn Walking Tour book. I hope we were not too noisy. Sometimes, it is hard to keep two teenage boys quiet. Our time in NYC flew by too quickly. Hopefully, I will get to visit NYC again and be able to stay at your brownstone. We stayed at the Carroll garden house 10 day's on a trip to NY. The app. is nice in size, clean, well managed and with all the necessary equipment. Subway is 200 meters away. Park in front of the house and great surounding area with many good restaurants and all the shop's you need for a stay. We felt very safe and well placed at this nice place. 10 minutes to Manhatten on sub. Owners live in the house and are very nice and helpfull. All the arrangements without any problem. We are very happy to have found the place and can recommend the flat without any hesitation.Das Appartement ist in sehr gutem sauberen Zustand mit allen nötigen Einrichtungsgegenständen. Die Besitzer leben im Haus und sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die ganze Abwicklung problemlos und zuverlässig. Sehr gute Anbindung nach Manhatten ( 200 meter bis zur U-Bahn ). Innerhalb 5 Minuten zu Fuß alle Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und eine große Anzahl fabelhafter kleiner Restaurants. Sehr sicher auch für Kinder. Kleiner Park gegenüber dem Gebäude. Ohne wenn und aber empfehlenswert.

We've always stayed in the city and didn't know what to expect from Brooklyn; now I understand why my sister loves it so much! We're so glad we found the Carroll Gardens house - what a great alternative to staying in a hotel or a B&B; not to mention much more affordable. We (me, my boyfriend and parents who flew in from Ohio) felt right at home. The CG house is located in a quiet neighborhood and is in walking distance of GREAT restaurants and cool shops. Spent a great week in Carroll Gardens in April. Such a convenient location for shops, eating out and the subway to Manhatten. A lovely apartment with most obliging and welcoming hosts. We also enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the evening resting our feet and sipping a glass of wine.

My two children and I recently stayed at the Carroll Garden House and it was a wonderful home away from home. We have been to NY numerous times staying in various hotels and the amount of money we saved and above all, the spaciousness that the apartment provided us was unparalleled. The owners have beautifully furnished the apartment and I must say that having the luxury (in NY at least!) of the private deck was a huge plus for me at the end of the night. Joe and Jamie were very accommodating and I would highly recommend the CGH to anyone visiting Brooklyn.

We stayed at 284 President Street for a week in April 2008 and loved it. It was perfect for us. The apartment had everything we needed. The owners are on site and made us feel very welcome. We particularly enjoyed the deck off the kitchen,where we read and relaxed. The apartment is in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood with a park across the street. There are shops and restaurants nearby, and we took advantage of them. The subway is just half a block away, so we were minutes away from other parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. We've been to NYC many times, but we have never had the comfort and flexibility that we had on President Street. We would go back without hesitation.
