I've stayed in four different units at Grand Caribbean in the last 10 years, and this one was equipped similar to the others. However, the unit wasn't clean when we got there. There were dead bugs along the baseboards in the hallway, and the floor clearly hadn't been mopped. I informed the realty office that the cleaning service hadn't done their job. This was the first time I was referred to a realty company by a property owner, and I will never deal with Tern Key Realty again. They were not at all helpful when we were trying to find information about evacuations due to TS Isaac. I called once to ask for information and was told they would call us and keep us updated. The morning the storm was supposed to get closer, I called the office again. The manager told us there was a mandatory evacuation and that the water and power would be disconnected at noon. This was after 10:00 a.m., so I'm not sure when she was planning to give me that update she promised. In less than 2 hours I packed my entire family and left the property. When I walked into the office to return, she said it wasn't mandatory and we could stay if we wanted. Thanks a lot. She knew I was frantically trying to get out of there before noon, but chose to wait until we were in her office completely packed to give us the update. I was told we wouldn't be charged for the nights we were supposed to stay but couldn't, but after we left we were charged an additional $91 to cover cleaning fees-- for a unit that wasn't clean. They could've cut us some slack on that considering that the unit was dirty when we arrived and we were evacuated after only two nights. I feel that this would've been handled differently if I had been dealing directly with the owner. From now on I will do it the way I always have-- deal directly with the property owner, or find another place. I'm still irritated about the whole experience, but it was 100% their management. The property is lovely.Owner response: Hi Ann, Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry your experience with the management was less than positive. I had no knowledge of what was transpiring until I saw this post. I left the unit on August 5th after a two-week stay and it was absolutely spotless at that time. We (personally) did a deep cleaning, removing everything from cabinets and cleaning them, washing all dishes and pots and pans, replacing items that needed replaced, dusting everything, cleaning floorboards, washing light fixtures, touching up paint, etc. We also replaced the two couches and purchased a 46" HDTV for the living room. There was only one other renter between the time we left and the time of your stay. So, I am horrified to hear that you found the unit dirty and I will certainly follow up with this. To any future renters, please be aware that I want our home to be clean, for us and for you. If you ever experience problems with cleanliness or problems during your stay, you can always email me directly during your stay. I typically respond within 24 hours, but usually within a couple of hours. Though I did not receive direct information this time around, hurricanes and tropical storms present a challenge. From past experience, I know that we as owners (and the property managers) get continually mixed messages from authorities. Despite this, I will be following up with the property managers to see if processes can be changed in the future. Thanks again for taking a few minutes out of your day to give us this important feedback! Monica

We had a great time staying here in late June/early July 2010. The condo was really nice, clean and well maintained. The beach was very pleasant. We recommend McGuire's Irish Pub, Lillians Pizza, the Light House and the Naval Air Station Museum. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay. We would highly recommend this condo to others (unless they take the week we want next year)Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My husband and I stayed at this unit at the Grand Carribbean and highly recommend it. We stayed at two other units at the GC and this was the best-comfort, furnishings, ground floor convenience. The kitchen was well stocked, the living/dining area comfortable and delightfully decorated, beds comfortable- a very nice accommodation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

About the owner: I've owned this unit since 1997 and am very happy to share our vacation quarters with you. The unit was refurbished in 2004 after Hurricane Ivan. It is also undergoing another facelift in January 2010, including new flooring, updated linens, and new furniture. We visit 3-4 times a year, when it gets a professional cleaning that meets our high standards.
Why the Owner Chose Grand Caribbean East & West:
I absolutely love the beach. I love walking along the beach in the early morning light, in the warm afternoon, and in the evening moonlight. I've made many sacrifices to own this unit, so that my family and I can visit and enjoy the beautiful beaches. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
