"Black Bear Retreat" is not your typical vacation rental property. This home (a walk out rancher) has over 2100 sq. ft. of living space, and is a secondary waterfront with a 22 ft. Covered Boat Slip and a Swimming dock just a short walk from the property. The house is a modern 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home and was recently decorated with rustic black bear motif. The main level includes the living room, dining room (seats 8), fully equipped kitchen, TV- family room, Master bedroom suite (queen bed) with bath and walk-in-closet, powder room and separate laundry room off the TV room.
The main level also includes a large deck with hot tub/Jacuzzi, plenty of room for the BBQ grill and outside furniture--table, chairs, and lounge furniture. Sit back, relax, and enjoy viewing our wildlife visitors: white/mule tail deer and wild turkeys. In the evening, enjoy the hot tub and view the moon and falling stars!
The lower level has sliding glass doors to the patio and also includes 2 bedrooms (1 queen bed) & (2 twin beds) a full bath and a TV - family room with a queen sofa bed. Also located on this level is an available 1-car garage. There is plenty of parking space and room for your boat trailer and/or RV. No hook-ups allowed!
This property is located on the north side of Rockford Bay 6/10 of a mile from Black Rock Marina, Shooters Restaurant, and a public boat launch.

We enjoyed staying in Bob & Carol's summer home. Made a great "home base" for activities in area. Positives: Quiet, very clean, nicely decorated, comfortable beds, hot tub, stars at night, deer, turkeys & hummingbirds, place on driveway for RV to park, main floor laundry. Cooked on the gas grill outside everyday, lived on the deck. Older teens had no problems sleeping on twin beds, loved the cabin decor. Nice swimming area off docks. Negatives: Fair distance from Coeur D'Alene, store in Rockford Bay pretty bare, couldn't buy bread or milk had to drive to town. If someone in party has mobility issues access to water would be extremely difficult, steep stairs to water. Easy walk down to water, not so easy going back up. A firepit in backyard would have been a plus. No internet difficult for teens but also makes it hard to plan any activities in area. Enjoyed our stay! Wished we had a boat - would have made it perfect.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Black Bear Retreat was a perfect place for our family to stay. The house is clean, with everything we needed for our family and a few drop-in friends. The dock is an easy walk from the cabin (there is parking if you need to drive) and we felt safe leaving our boat in the slip the whole time. There is a huge grassy yard to play games in along with wildlife to watch. My favorite part is the huge deck that has sun from sunrise to sunset. And a hot tub to watch the stars at night!
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
