We are one block from the main Russian River cycling loop, in a beautiful meadow right on the river in a prime location. Guests have returned already up to 3x in one year!
In the summer you will want to enjoy all your meals out on the deck at river's edge and cook on the Weber gas BBQ. Our house is exceptional and better equipped than most other rental homes in terms of dishes, glassware, beautiful table settings, etc.
Attractively furnished, you will feel at home in this artful home much more than in other primary rental only homes as owner stays there from time to time as well. 6 kayaks and raft. Toys available for kids. Highchair and booster seats available. Guest love staying in our home.

I am a neuropsychologist who is doing research on healthy environments and my River home is for sure safe and healthy. Although I have a new large TV and cable, DVD player to go with the TV and a stereo system, the solitude and tranquility is what gives me please and a lift. I thought I would do a lot of writing there but instead I spend more time gazing, resting, thinking and socializing with dear friends.
Why the Owner Chose Monte Rio
It has beautiful, restful views of the river and lovely green hillside on the other side. Sylvan Way is a great sought after street and more than 1/2 of the residents live there year round because they chose it as one of the best sections on the River. The house is filled with light and everyone there loves being there and enjoys is ambience.
The Unique Benefits of this House
River access for kayaking is incredibly easy. You will be comfortable, come away well rested and the beautiful nature infuses your being. Besides, meals in this setting always turn out fabulous. Additionally we make brief excursions to great restaurants in the area that I wish were nearer my primary residence. We always drive for 10 minutes at least once to walk the beach to where the river joins the ocean, and admire the sunset at the hidden and magnificent Goat Rock Beach where hundreds of seals give birth for 1-2 months. My grandchildren love the sandy beach and the river....

We have stayed at this gorgeous house two summers in a row and adored it both times. We are a family of two young kids (1.5 yrs the first stay, 2.5 the second time we stayed), one 70+ year old, and four 40ish year olds. Every one of us enjoyed this house -- the fun in the river, the birdwatching (ospreys nest around the corner of the river and fish on the bank opposite the deck), easy coffee outings and town visits, great walks (through a partly dry riverbed, for one), quiet nooks in the house. My mother had her own in-law suite for peace and quiet from the kids when she wanted it. Aside from the perfect private riverside location, we loved walking along the road to the local organic open garden. What a gem! Close to seal viewing at the mouth of the river in Jenner and close to the redwood park in Guerneville. Our kids loved it all, as did we. We will keep going again and again!

My husband and I and, separately, my daughter and I have had the pleasure of staying at this very private and immersed-in-Nature Russian River house.The view of the river from the deck is stunning--egrets, eagles, ducks, occasional seals (the Pacific Ocean is a few miles away), cross your view; you lose sense of time in just being. The house i is easy to get to from the Bay Area. The landscape on the way there is beautiful, and the towns one goes through are lively and fun to stroll through. The house itself is set on a rural neighborhood with a charm of its own. The garden in the front entrance has a number of fruit trees, a bird drinking fountain, and a flowering jazmine that perfumes it.The house has separate dining and living areas in the open living space with a pellet wood stove. A wall of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors separates you from the outdoors and immediately draws you to the river and its surrounding forest. The house is roomy, open-air feeling, with a lower level, self-sufficent unit that overlooks directly on the river; that's my favorite! Carrying kayaks from the house to the river's edge of the property is relatively easy and the kayaks slide comfortably into the river flow. We definitely recommend this house over and over, enjoy!

This spacious property was perfect for our family get together, which included six adults and two toddlers. We spent our afternoons on the deck, members of our party kayaked on the river, and the dining room table was the perfect size for family dinners. The home is close to the coast and to wine country. I would recommend the home to others and hope to visit again in the future.

Anyone who loves nature, the river, values privacy and enjoyes viewing wildlife, will love staying at our home which is beautifully laid out and has a more private feel than most rental properties. The deck areas make for wonderful outdoor living and the indoor rooms are larger than usual and have much light. A very desirable area, River Meadows, is a sought out spot!
