I had the good fortune to stumble upon Jill and Jerry's VRBO listing while searching for the perfect place to spend a long-awaited week in San Francisco without my family. As a woman staying alone, I needed a place that was safe and secure, but also close to the heart of SF -- the most wonderful city on Earth. Communicating with Jerry via email was easy -- he responded very quickly and answered all the questions I thought to ask and many that I hadn't yet thought of. The sweet and cozy ground floor apartment with private, keyed access, was exactly as pictured and described in the VRBO listing. It was immaculate inside and out, and my every need was planned for -- from the washer and dryer access, to the electric fireplace that warmed the chilly evenings, to the bookshelves filled with helpful guidebooks, histories, and maps of San Francisco. Because the weather was nearly perfect during my mid-October stay, I especially enjoyed the lovely back yard/garden that I could step out into from the small deck just on the other side of the sliding glass living room door. The location was primo, and very easy to find with the directions that Jerry provided me. Several street car/train stops, as well as bus stops, are right around the corner from the apartment and getting into SF took less than 15 minutes. I relied on public transport exclusively during the week and was able to travel everywhere I pleased in and around the city with no problems at all. The 7-day transit pass covered everything except my BART ride from the airport -- and for only $27. Although I'd like to keep this gem of a place my own little secret, I've already recommended it to several close friends and have made reservations for another week there, myself. I can't say enough about this property and its owners, Jerry and Jill. Many thanks for a great vacation!

We spent only several days here in October and wish it could have been longer. The apartment was very comfortable and the owners very welcoming and helpful. Transportation downtown is incredibly convenient and fast and yet you have the advantage of being in a quiet and somewhat different environment when visiting SF. I would strongly recommend this accommodation.

Perfect Home Away from Home

This charming apartment was perfect for my grandmother's visit. I live in San Francisco, and had to find another place for the two of us to stay when she visited because she can't climb stairs. Jerry & Jill were so kind and accommodating. The comfortable apartment was just what we needed. I would definitely stay here again, and also recommend it to others.

Wonderful Quiet Neighborhood

The location was great and the neighborhood was very quiet. The apartment was spacious enough for two couples. We loved walking up West Portal to pick up bagels and produce. Public transportation is right on the corner and takes you to the heart of San Francisco.

This was exactly what we needed! We are three women friends, two of whom grew up in West Portal. We took the Muni downtown to see an ACT play, had no trouble parking out front, and everything was meticulously decorated and outfitted! We'll come as a group again. Meanwhile, the two natives have each gone separately, making for three visits inside of three months! We love it! (Don't go; it'll be more room for us--)

Convenient location, charming apartment

This apartment is very well located for taking the MUNI system, which will zip you all over San Francisco in a few minutes. (Be sure to get a MUNI pass at the airport.) It's also walking distance to the beautiful little village of West Portal, which has an eclectic variety of good, affordable restaurants, a movie theater and everything you need for a visit to The City. Close to Stern Grove, Stonestown shopping mall, San Francisco State University, even the beach and the zoo! On a quiet street with tall trees rimming the back yard. Nice kitchen and furnishings. It's a serene retreat. Outstanding.

Don't tell anyone but this is the best lace to stay in SF. I've stayed here several times a week at a time. The flat is a home away. Parking requires some SF adjustment but once you get the rhythm it was no problem. Jill & Jerry make you welcome but are not intrusive. I had a roommate who found the pull-out very comfortable

The best. My husband and I stayed here for three weeks and it is the best VRBO property we've rented. Great location, kind owners who are available for help but not intrusive, full kitchen, comfortable bed, stores and shops near by, parking no problem, wifi, MUNI stop one minute away. From the coffee and tea available for us when we arrived to the friendly good-bye when we left, this place has everything.

We loved staying here. For the price of a hotel room you have a whole apartment! Very comfortable, very clean, the owners are wonderful, there is an adorable garden out back. Highly recommended.
