Accommodations: Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 10)
Keywords: Cottage
Charming 3-bedroom cottage located on a family-owned waterfront estate that was converted from a circa 1920s chicken coop. This retreat has inspiring views of Shelter Island and is only steps away from the peaceful waters of the Peconic bay. Described by Walter Ansel of Mystic Seaport as "one of the last saltwater farms," the estate is not only picturesque, but is also an exemplary model of a traditional working farm. Gentle breezes off the bay keep the house naturally cool, so air conditioning is rarely, if ever, needed. Lots of room indoors and out makes the cottage both kid- and pet-friendly. The spacious deck and sprawling lawn make for a great place to entertain friends and family, or the perfect spot to lie back, relax, and relish the view. Stroll along the estate's expansive private beach or have a picnic overlooking the water. The beautiful tree-filled grounds complete the pristine view of the bay and Shelter Island, making the estate an artist’s paradise for all seasons. The cottage is quiet and secluded, yet within easy walking distance to Greenport Village, offering the best of both worlds.
With a strong nautical history, Greenport is a water-lover’s paradise and the perfect destination for sailing, boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Mitchell Park Marina is just a short walk from the estate and provides transient slips by the day or week. Please call in advance for reservations to secure your spot.
While downtown in the village of Greenport, explore the local boutiques and stores. Take advantage of the history-rich Railroad, Stirling–Ireland House, and East End Seaport museums. Ride the antique carousel, or take a tour of the harbor on The Glory, an electric launch. Sample the local bounty from land and sea in a variety of restaurants offering casual fare to award-winning dining. Tour the over 42 vineyards located here on the North Fork. Discover the art galleries featuring local and international artists who represent the contemporary to the classic. So much tucked into one square mile and all conveniently within walking distance!
Greenport's proximity to Manhattan, Connecticut, and the South Shore means you don’t have to go far to get away. Enjoy a casual drive from the city, or let the LIRR or Hampton Jitney carry you here stress free. Either way there is something for everyone, so come and experience what makes Greenport charming and unique. For more information about Greenport and all it has to offer, please visit the official village website supported by the Greenport BID. Make sure to enter Greenport Village in your search.
The estate also offers additional accommodations that when combined can be perfect for events or gatherings. Please visit listing #173361--“The Gate House” for information, and visit greenportwaterfrontrental dot com for additional pictures of the property.

What can i say ... This is a special place. The serene setting will launch you into relaxation mode the minute you step onto the property. This home is clean and cheerfully decorated and perfect for summertime lazy days. My husband and I were married on this property in 2011 and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Our day was perfect and this beautiful property was the backdrop to it all.

We LOVE the cottage! The place is clean and comfortable and as cute as the pictures! Tons of room for us and our friends and our dogs! The beach is quiet, private and gorgeous, and we enjoy watching the Shelter Island ferry and the sailing lessons from our beach chairs! A great place for everyone to hang out and relax, within walking distance of downtown Greenport, and close to the wineries but really, why leave the estate?

This is my Favorite Place in the World. I have been a Return Tenant since Summer 2004. There is no other place like it on earth, in my world travels. Just the perfect combination of world-class amenities amplified by a beachfront setting with constant ocean breezes and trnquility. I have found the on-site hands-on Owner-Manager a caring and responsive presence, truly a Friend.

We spent a week in "the Cottage" in August 2011 and could not have been happier! There were five of us (four adults and one child) and we still had enough room to comfortably fit three or four more. The beds were comfortable, the house was very clean, and had all the amenities - wifi, hd cable tv, etc. We spent most of our time at the enormous clean private beach, went fishing at the boat basin, kayaked in the wetlands. The owner, Pat, was the perfect host - very friendly and helpful. This was an amazing peaceful oasis unlike any other. We plan to return every year for our family vacation. It was perfect!

Our family travels around the world and in 2004 we have discovered this beautiful place and since then we've been coming here every summer. The property is the most beautiful place we have ever seen; it should be photograph in the National Geographic Magazine. This place is secluded, even though it’s a short walk (10 minutes) to the Greenport restaurants and shops. Privet beach is amazing, great for swimming and sunbathing. The cottage is very spacious, clean, thoughtfully organized and beautifully designed. The owner will go above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. If you are looking for something special, you will find it here. Can’t wait for summer to come.

The listing information and photos accurately depicted the cottage in which my husband and I stayed. It was a charming place with plenty of room; and though it is not luxurious, it had all of the amenities we needed. It was clean and comfortable. Our dog had the vacation of her life, chasing the squirrels around the former farm. I would stay there again and would also recommend it to friends. It is located close to downtown Greenport, so I walked into town with the dog most days and my husband rode his bike all through town.We brought our kayaks down to the private beach and were able to explore the area by water as well. Pat, the owner, was very helpful and informative about Greenport and recommended a visit to The Old Field Vineyard in Southold. Loved their wine! We went to some of the other numerous vineyards, took the ferry to Shelter Island and a second ferry to the Hamptons for a daytrip. Since it was after Labor Day, the restaurants were more limited, but thankfully Claudio's was one of the open ones. I'm speaking of the main restaurant, but we went to their family take-out place too, also on the wharf. Another favorite was Founders Tavern in Southold. My husband had a great clam chowder at of all places, the American Legion Hall in Sag Harbor. If you want the Hamptons, go to the south fork; if you want more low key surroundings with real people, go to the north fork.

The cottage was much smaller than we had been told, very tight quarters no way more than a couple could stay here. It was advertised as having two rooms with a loft bed. This is a falacy - the loft is a tiny crawl space. The room was dirty, few towels and you must bring your own toilet paper as only a roll is provided for a one week stay. There was no wifi as advertised and the electricity went out. Owner refused to compensate for the problems.
