This house is great for family reunions. It is very private, located close to and between the town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
This magnificent and peaceful 12-bedroom summer house was built in 1914.
Situated above Frenchman Bay with over 12 acres of woodlands behind it, Sols Cliff House enjoys some of the most magnificent views on Mt. Desert Island. On its inland side, the house has views of Acadia National Park's mountains for which the island is so well known. The house is located a mile from Bar Harbor, is accessed by a long private driveway, and offers three floors of comfort and privacy. With 12 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, the house sleeps up to 22 people if the infant room and two roll away beds are used. It also includes a large dining room, a large living room, library, kitchen, butler's pantry and laundry room, six fireplaces (with the four on the ground floor available for use), a second floor porch overlooking the water, a long terrace along the water side of the house, two sheltered picnic areas in Italian style loggia and a large, detached game house.
As one of the last remaining Summer Cottages that were numerous in the Bar Harbor area before the great fire of 1947, the house still has many of its original details. Various renovations have endeavored to keep the historical character while adding modern convenience.
