beautiful cabin with beautiful views

Guest: GaPeach (Brunswick, GA)
Date of Stay: 01/12/12 Review Submitted: 01/23/12

This is a great multi-family cabin to rent. My family of three, my sister's family of four, and our parents all stayed in this cabin in January 2012. Because the cabin has a bedroom and bathroom on each of the three floors (and an extra half bath on the main floor), it gave each of our families their own floor to work with. The views were very pretty and the pricing was just right. The living room was a little on the small/cozy side and therefore limited on seating, but the spaciousness on the other floors made up that. The kitchen was large and came very well stocked. This was a great cabin and the owner/renter was super friendly and wonderful to work with.

Shipmates Get Together

Guest: Greg (Seaford,Delaware)
Date of Stay: 10/08/11 Review Submitted: 10/23/11

Every year or so myself and two Navy shipmates, with our wives, try to get together. Last time was a cruise and this time we decided on the mountains. Having never been to Asheville I started searching VRBO and came upon the Grand View Lodge and am so glad I did. What first caught my eye was the 3 bedrooms and a full bath for each one which meant no sharing bathrooms. The beautiful pictures of the interior ad exterior of the cabin sealed the deal. Upon our arrival we found the cabin to be very clean and neat inside and out. We found plenty to do to last us the week. We visited the beautiful Biltmore House, town of Black Mountain with it's many shops and eatery's, Boone N.C. and the Blue Ridge Parkway with it's many attractions and beautiful fall scenery. We all enjoyed our stay at this cabin and the surrounding area and look forward to returning in the future.

Owner response:Im very happy to see you enjoyed the Grandview lodge when the leaves were changing and the sky is clear with the views of the Blue ridge Mountains right from the back deck, I have been to the biltmore house every year in October and this is beautiful, and have ridden my bicycle on the blue ridge from little switzerland to Mt Mitchell as well, everyone should come, see, and relax with all 3 floors here.

Great accommodations

Guest: Happy Skiiers (Florida)
Date of Stay: 08/02/11 Review Submitted: 09/06/11

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful cabin nestled in a great community. Views are gorgeous, accommodations are excellent with all the 'little' things you need. Dan was great to work with. We highly recommend the cabin for a great getaway.

Owner response:The community stills grows and they just added a hiking trail to a beautiful waterfall, by next spring the lake will be complete and this is only a 10 minute walk. Sometimes it is the little things that count.. Thanks again Dan

My husband picked this one out for us and I will have to admit, he did great! Plenty of room for everyone. Daniel was easy to work with and everything was just as described. Take your walking shoes and enjoy the scenery!

Owner response:I am used to the women usually making the reservations and haveing the questions and I am glad to see we (men) sometimes get lucky with the vacation places. Thanks again

Wow! After seeing the pictures and reading the reviews, we were excited to stay here. As promised, everything was great. Dan is AWESOME to work with. He was very quick at responding and answering all of our questions. Upon arrival, we were VERY impressed. This cabin is immaculate and has everything you need. The kitchen had every utensil, dishware, pots/pans, and appliances you need. Just buy some groceries and you are all set! The bedrooms were great and beds were very comfortable. Loved the swing on the front porch, along with the rocking chairs. We used the grill on the back patio several times and worked very well. It is a little bit of a drive to the various attractions but well worth the ride. Lots to do and Dan provided plenty of informational packets/flyers to map out what you would like to do while there. The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby as well so if you are interested in a nice scenic drive, don't miss that. We would HIGHLY recommend this cabin and have talked about it non-stop to our family and friends. A HUGE thanks again to Dan for providing a nice vacation spot for us.

Owner response:I have enjoyed my cabin as much as my guests have, I know how important responses are and while they are relaxing with the scenery or have a question on how to use something or get to the grocery store I always mention that they can call at any time.

Guest: Dan Whitney
Date of Stay: 12/24/10 Review Submitted: 01/26/11

This Christmas was a beautiful white christmas and another look with snow on the trees without leaves. there is a 2 mile nature walk that ends at a private waterfall with benches and landscaping to enjoy the peacefull sound of water or have a picknick and just relax. the entire property outside was renovated including widing the driveway with 15 tons of new rock all around the cabin, adding plants and mulching the entire lot. 2 new flat screens too!

Grandview Lodge

We had such a wonderful time at the Grandview Lodge! Communication with the the owner, Dan, right from the begining was excellent. He kept in touch with us often before we arrived, giving us updates on the property, weather, the leaves changing colors, etc. and to see if we needed anything. We had never rented a home before and we were a little worried. The minute we walked inside, our fears were put to rest. The cabin is located in a beautiful neigborhood but you still have your privacy. The cabin itself looks brand new and is immaculate (this is coming from a total clean freak!) The views from all the windows are breathtaking (it is almost a distraction!) We even saw a deer and a fox one morning. We would highly recommend the Grandview Lodge to anyone looking to get away. You will not be disappointed! We can't wait to go back!

Great family get away!

Date of Stay: 10/15/10 Review Submitted: 10/30/10

Every year my family has a fall "get away". This year we decided to stay near Asheville because of the LEAF festival at Lake Eden. This cabin was the perfect place for us. The 3 full size bedrooms easily accomodated 3 couples (as well as 2 babies!). The huge dining room table was perfect as well. The mountain views from anywhere in the cabin are amazing. The owner is very quick to answer any questions or concerns you may have. I would without hesitation recommend this beautiful cabin!

We had a great ‘Couples Weekend’ at The Grandview Lodge!! Everyone was more than impressed with the views, cabin, and the beds/bedding! We did a bit of cooking & found the kitchen was stocked just right! We enjoyed some great nights at the large dining table playing games & slow mornings on the porches with coffee. All in all, we loved it! Its seclusion was wonderful and only a short, yet beautiful drive to Asheville & local grocery stores/town. Thank you for having such a beautiful house, we really enjoyed it and can’t wait to come back!!

Grandview Peaks Cabin Wonderful Cabin and Great Host

Date of Stay: 07/03/10 Review Submitted: 07/06/10

First, thank you for being such a nice gentleman. I have never met you but you made me feel at home before staying at your place. After staying at your gorgeous Grandview cabin, Mike and I really did felt at home. We did not feel like strangers in a strange place. Your Grandview cabin is perfect for any family willing to relax and enjoy the view. The cabin lay out is great allows families to have their own space. You thought of everything to have on hand to keep families entertained and relaxed. I love the idea of having a master suite on each floor. Great idea! The property is well maintained everything looks and feels so new. The surrounding area is nice and convenient to the Interstate as well as to shopping and restaurants in downtown Marion. My husband and I spent the day at Grandfather Mountain and Linville Falls and Gorge. We were surprise your cabin is within minutes of these great places to visit. Also, we took a drive to Lake James only minutes from the cabin. We truly enjoyed sitting on the deck looking at the stars, listening to the bob white and Mike spotted a dear in the back yard each morning. Thanks again for the great time we had and yes we will call on you again to share your beautiful Grandview Cabin with us. It was hard leaving such a beautiful place. Thanks again Dan. You are great guy with a great cabin. We will be back again.

Wonderful Place!

Guest: Matt (Tennessee)
Date of Stay: 06/28/10 Review Submitted: 07/16/10

We had a wonderful week at the Lodge! The views were spectacular, the beds extremely comfortable, and the house is a very relaxing environment. Getting away from it all is one of the things that drew us there, and it really is far away from any civilization, so be prepared to drive a bit if you're going to restaurants, Asheville, or state parks. There is lots of great hiking in the area! We cooked several meals ourselves there, and the kitchen had all the cooking items we needed. The grill out back is also great, once you get the darn thing lit! One reviewer mentioned the bug issue. We saw a couple inside, and some wasps had made nests in a few of the overhangs, but there was some Raid in the hall closet. The inconvenience was minimal. We didn't turn on the TV very often, but when we did we were able to easily find the World Cup games on. There was no internet, but that was a plus since we were trying to "get off the grid". I can't say enough about the Grandview Lodge. It was a fantastic getaway and we will definitely try to stay there again next time we have a trip in the area. Thanks, Dan, for providing such a wonderful place to stay.

Excellent Week Stay at the House

Guest: Needlework/Knitter (Centreville, VA)
Date of Stay: 07/12/09 Review Submitted: 07/19/09

We had such a great time relaxing for the week We were so pleasantly surprised in the cleanliness of the house. It was like "home" from the minute we arrived. The kitchen had plenty of dinnerware, and supplies to get us started. We enjoyed the views of the mountains every day when we arose and definitely in the evening for the sunsets. The pictures here represent the cabin and surroundings so well. It is very open inside and nice light coming through the windows. We had fun with the table tennis there and one day decided to have tournaments. That sure brought back memories! We weren't able to use the fireplace due to the wrong time of the season, but sure did look inviting. The bedrooms and beds were very comfortable and noise from someone staying up later did not travel throughout the house. We put out the corn that was available to draw the deer, etc, but we saw wild turkeys (about 10 or so) instead. It was a sight to see them in the back yard. The brochures were very helpful in looking over to what we wanted to do for the week besides being lazy and relaxing. I would highly recommend the Courntryside BBQ in Marion. We went there one of the first nights for pulled pork and then decided to go back for the ribs another night. It is only about 20 minutes away and was the best ribs with so much meat. Make sure you go there on Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday for the ribs. If you call 3 hours ahead, they will make them for you on the other days. I can't say enough about the owner being very communicative and pleasant to work with. Everything that we read in the description and his helpfulness in the emails prior to arriving was great. We had 3 couples and we stayed on the top floor and the water pressure and getting hot water was fine. It was nice to have a bedroom on each floor and one bedroom on the main floor for people that can't take steps very much. I would highly recomment this house to couples or families. With the games there, table tennis and just the beauty of the mountains, there was enough to do or just to relax.

Owner response:The Grandview Lodge was built to either enjoy the beauty of the mountains, a time to relax and have fun with the family or play games in the gameroom and check out some of the wild life there. I leave a bag of deer corn so you can get a picture of "bambi" but sometimes the wild turkeys show and they are a funny group to see. Thanks You! The Grandview Lodge

The Grandview Lodge was built with the highest standards as well as the decor inside and the beds, mattresses, and linnens, the kitchen has all the ammenities to cook a special meal with the granite counter tops and the stainless steel appliances, You can rock in a chair with a drink or a pair of binoculars to see the wildlife or the stars at night. I as the owner strive to keep everything up to high standards because this is also my home which I enjoy everytime I am there.

infestation of bugs no water pressure

Guest: Kasia1 (Morrisville NC)
Date of Stay: 01/30/09 Review Submitted: 02/04/09

This is a beautiful a cabin with amazing views. Unfortunately, we were unable to fully enjoy it due to the infestation of bugs. They are everywhere: Floor, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, etc. It was difficult to sleep with them landing on us in the middle of the night. In addition, there was no water pressure in the showers. They were almost unusable. I feel like at the least, some sort of partial refund was in order; however, the owner did not responded to our request for it.

Owner response:I was told about all of this after they returned home. The love bugs are a part of north carolina and the guests were aware that they may have to use the hand vac to pick them up. the month of feburary was extremely cold and the water pressure was address. I did give them a discounted rate prior to the rental and let them know about the love bugs. Dan owner.

Date of Stay: 10/20/08 Review Submitted: 10/26/08

What a beautiful cabin! The owner was wonderful to deal with and the house was spectacular. Just as described. Our entire family loved it. It has a great view and is off the beaten path. The beds were very comfortable and the house was clean and stocked with the essentials to get you started when we arrived. There were also brochures available for area attractions, hiking trails, etc. which was nice to have. It is about a 45 min. drive to Asheville/Biltmore House & Chimney Rock and it is not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway. They have a beautiful gas fireplace and it was amazing to watch the sunrise/sunset on the deck. They even left corn for us to put out to help attract the deer! We visited at the end of October and the weather and the leaves were gorgeous. If you like games, there is a ping pong table, darts, checkers, Monopoly and a few others. The telescope was also nice to look at the stars, although it was so clear they were beautiful without it. It was also nice to have the large dining table (seats 8) for the whole family to dine together. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to our friends. Thanks!

The Lodge is wonderful! There is no detail unattended. Views are stunning, and the area is very peaceful & quiet. Furnishings are first-class. Beds are extremely comfortable. The house is brand new and luxurious. Asheville is about 50 minutes away and easy to reach. I am very picky about our choice in vacation homes, and this one met all our needs. Highly recommend it. Owner is responsive and helpful.
