The KnappSack is a wonderful place to spend your summer vacation, or to view the fall colors. If it's space you need, you will be thrilled with this 3,600 sqft home. There is no dock or lake access at this property, just an awesome view of beautiful Norris Lake.
You will enjoy the comfort of four master bedrooms, each with a private bath and view of beautiful Norris Lake. Upstairs, there is a huge Great Room with cathedral ceilings, picture windows, and easy access to the spacious deck. The kitchen is large and fully equipped for your dining pleasure, and the living room is comfortably furnished with a big screen TV and breath-taking view of the lake. There is room to seat 10 people at the dinner table, and three more can sit at the island counter. Two of the master bedrooms are located on this level, as well as an additional guest bathroom.
The wrap around deck is equipped with charcoal and gas grills, and plenty of patio furniture to relax and enjoy the marvelous views. Just wait until you enjoy your first sunrise from our deck, or the pleasure of dining outside in the evening shade! And be sure to watch for lightning bugs at night and the many deer that live in the nearby woods and like to graze on the lawn below the house.
On the lower level, you will find a large family room equipped with a wet bar, refrigerator, pool table, television, and plenty of space to relax an enjoy the afternoon. There are two additional master bedrooms, a laundry room, and access to a second level deck with a hammock and extra seating. All bedrooms are large enough to accommodate couples with small children and additional space for air mattresses.
And, as you can see from the pictures, the KnappSack is beautifully decorated, comfortable, spacious, and a place you will want to come to year after year. And did I mention the parking??? You have plenty of space in the circular driveway with additional parking spaces just above.
Linens and kitchen towels are provided, but please bring your own bath towels and beach towels. A washer and dryer are available for your use. Boat slips can be rented from the Deerfield Cove Marina. Swimming pool, tennis courts,children's playground, championship golf course and restaurant are all part of the amenities you will enjoy at the KnappSack. Don't forget to bring your golf clubs and lots of extra balls!

Norris Lake - Exclusive and secluded, Deerfield Resort is nestled between the Cumberland Mountains and the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountain. Located to the north of Knoxville, Tennessee, just east of I-75, and is situated on a beautiful peninsula on Norris Lake, the largest of TVA lakes with over 800 miles of shoreline and a surface area of 34,000 acres. The water is 200 feet deep and clean enough to drink! Deerfield Resort is the only development on the lake with private airstrip, championship golf course, swimming pools, children's playground, tennis courts, 2 restaurants, sand volleyball and more!

We live in California, and it only took a few visits to our sister's house at Deerfield to know that we needed to own a vacation home on this beautiful lake. We plan to retire here someday, and in the meantime welcome all visitors. We hope you love our home as much as we do
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our house is big enough for several families to share and there is parking for everyone. We like to get up early to enjoy the lake, then play 9 holes in the afternoon. The golf course is great!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! The house was so roomy that the whole family never felt cramped. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was all clean and beautifully decorated. Quite elegant! What a beautiful view. This was definitely one of our best vacations.

My family and I just spent an incredible weekend at "The Knappsack"! WOW!!!! We will definitely go back. Everything was perfect from the hospitality we received from the owners to the location and most of all from the beautiful home. Everything we read about "The Knappsack" was spot on and the photos were exact. When we walked inside it took out breath away with the cleanliness and decor. Before booking we spoke several times with the owner and never hung up the phone unsatisfied. Over all our experience here could not have been better. This was the general consensus with our entire group of 10 people. Even visiting family could not express enough as to the beauty and convenience of this place. As we ended our trip, we all looked from the deck as a mother and two baby deer grazed in the backyard unfazed by our presence.....so calm and serene. Yes, we will definitely return to "The Knappsack".

Our family and friends have stayed at the Knappsack for 1 week in the summer of 2009 and for 5 trips during the summer of 2010. We continue to rent this house for our large group for a week's vacation and even for long weekend when it is just my husband and me. We love the house, it's views and location. The house is always comfortable and we have not had any problems that have interrupted our visits. We have personally met the next door neighbor who oversees the property. We have been going to Norris Lake and specifically Deerfield since 1999. We have rented over 40 different houses and condos in Deerfield during that time. We have found the Knappsack to be the best value and location for our trips. We will continue to plan our vacations around the availability of this house.

Sorry to say our vacation week here was miserable. The air conditioning never worked right and it was extremely hot. The owner could not be reached but thank goodness for the gentleman that was the caregiver/maintenance man. He was as helpful as he could be but they never could get it to cool down much. I was just thankful he was there so we could have a witness to our experience. The house itself was not very clean at all and the back yard was cluttered with beer bottles and garbage.I won't even say what I found in the bedside table in the master bedroom (but it was a huge suprise...not in a good way). The one good thing was the owner was sorry for our inconveinence and did subtract a small amount off of our rent. This is the first time I've reviewed a place where we've vacationed and I feel a little bad about submitting it but our family vacations one week a year and we look forward to a pleasant,time with a clean place where we can relax and rest.Our week was not like that. We stayed away as much as we could because it was so hot in the house we could not even use the kitchen to cook our meals. It was a stressful time for all of us. We will go back to Norris Lake but not to this location.

I do recall this stay being during the hottest week on record at Norris Lake, but the a/c company did come out to check the unit and said there was no problem with air conditioning. Although the cleanliness of the house was not mentioned previously, we will make sure that the cleaning ladies check the nightstands from now on! We loved our first trip to Norris Lake! The Knappsack was the perfect vacation home for our family. We all enjoyed having our separate bedrooms and bathrooms, but gathered around the kitchen for our meals. The men enjoyed the basement for the pool table and to watch sports! Everything listed in the description was perfect! The owner, Laurie, was excellent. She was very quick to answer emails, phone calls, etc. Overall, a fantastic find!

We had such a great time at the Knappsack! The house was beautifully furnished and we felt right at home. And the view from the decks... WOW! Our group consisted of 4 couples and three children all under the age of 3. The layout of the house was perfect to accommodate our large group, and we all appreciated that the house had 4 master bedrooms with attached bathrooms. Thanks to Joe and Laurie for providing such a nice to place to stay on our vacation!

This house was terrific! So nice & clean and well furnished. Loved the big bathrooms, nice beds, lots of room. Each bedroom has its own bath and that is wonderful. Nice view, quiet and a relaxing place to stay. Would highly recommend to anyone.

WOW... that's what you say when you first walk through the door. We spent a week at the Knappsack and didn't want to leave. The house is beautiful, very comfortable and nicely furnished. The view is amazing and the high deck makes you feel like you're on top of the world. Deerfield Resort is quiet and relaxing and the best place we've found to stay at Norris. Thanks Joe and Laurie for providing your home for our vacation and we'll be back next year
