We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! The house was so roomy that the whole family never felt cramped. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was all clean and beautifully decorated. Quite elegant! What a beautiful view. This was definitely one of our best vacations.

Recommended for:Age 55+, girls getaway.

My family and I just spent an incredible weekend at "The Knappsack"! WOW!!!! We will definitely go back. Everything was perfect from the hospitality we received from the owners to the location and most of all from the beautiful home. Everything we read about "The Knappsack" was spot on and the photos were exact. When we walked inside it took out breath away with the cleanliness and decor. Before booking we spoke several times with the owner and never hung up the phone unsatisfied. Over all our experience here could not have been better. This was the general consensus with our entire group of 10 people. Even visiting family could not express enough as to the beauty and convenience of this place. As we ended our trip, we all looked from the deck as a mother and two baby deer grazed in the backyard unfazed by our presence.....so calm and serene. Yes, we will definitely return to "The Knappsack".

Multiple stays at the Knappsack

Our family and friends have stayed at the Knappsack for 1 week in the summer of 2009 and for 5 trips during the summer of 2010. We continue to rent this house for our large group for a week's vacation and even for long weekend when it is just my husband and me. We love the house, it's views and location. The house is always comfortable and we have not had any problems that have interrupted our visits. We have personally met the next door neighbor who oversees the property. We have been going to Norris Lake and specifically Deerfield since 1999. We have rented over 40 different houses and condos in Deerfield during that time. We have found the Knappsack to be the best value and location for our trips. We will continue to plan our vacations around the availability of this house.

Sorry to say our vacation week here was miserable. The air conditioning never worked right and it was extremely hot. The owner could not be reached but thank goodness for the gentleman that was the caregiver/maintenance man. He was as helpful as he could be but they never could get it to cool down much. I was just thankful he was there so we could have a witness to our experience. The house itself was not very clean at all and the back yard was cluttered with beer bottles and garbage.I won't even say what I found in the bedside table in the master bedroom (but it was a huge suprise...not in a good way). The one good thing was the owner was sorry for our inconveinence and did subtract a small amount off of our rent. This is the first time I've reviewed a place where we've vacationed and I feel a little bad about submitting it but our family vacations one week a year and we look forward to a pleasant,time with a clean place where we can relax and rest.Our week was not like that. We stayed away as much as we could because it was so hot in the house we could not even use the kitchen to cook our meals. It was a stressful time for all of us. We will go back to Norris Lake but not to this location.

Owner response:Wow, we've never had a bad review and appologize for any inconvenience you may have had. I do recall this stay being during the hottest week on record at Norris Lake, but the a/c company did come out to check the unit and said there was no problem with air conditioning. Although the cleanliness of the house was not mentioned previously, we will make sure that the cleaning ladies check the nightstands from now on! Again, we've never had complaint in the past but appreciate your comments so that we can make future improvements. Thanks, Laurie Knapp

We loved our first trip to Norris Lake! The Knappsack was the perfect vacation home for our family. We all enjoyed having our separate bedrooms and bathrooms, but gathered around the kitchen for our meals. The men enjoyed the basement for the pool table and to watch sports! Everything listed in the description was perfect! The owner, Laurie, was excellent. She was very quick to answer emails, phone calls, etc. Overall, a fantastic find!

We had a wonderful time and can not wait to come back. The views from the bedrooms, greatrooms, and decks are breathtaking. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise every morning. The knappsack is just perfectly furnished and supplied with everything you need to feel at home. Many thanks to the Knapp's!

We had such a great time at the Knappsack! The house was beautifully furnished and we felt right at home. And the view from the decks... WOW! Our group consisted of 4 couples and three children all under the age of 3. The layout of the house was perfect to accommodate our large group, and we all appreciated that the house had 4 master bedrooms with attached bathrooms. Thanks to Joe and Laurie for providing such a nice to place to stay on our vacation!

This house was terrific! So nice & clean and well furnished. Loved the big bathrooms, nice beds, lots of room. Each bedroom has its own bath and that is wonderful. Nice view, quiet and a relaxing place to stay. Would highly recommend to anyone.

WOW... that's what you say when you first walk through the door. We spent a week at the Knappsack and didn't want to leave. The house is beautiful, very comfortable and nicely furnished. The view is amazing and the high deck makes you feel like you're on top of the world. Deerfield Resort is quiet and relaxing and the best place we've found to stay at Norris. Thanks Joe and Laurie for providing your home for our vacation and we'll be back next year

We had a great time at Norris, this house is absolutely beautiful inside! Large bedrooms with comfy beds. The men enjoyed the pool table! Great view had a wonderful time, would rent this house again!
