Enjoy your vacation at this beautiful and serene setting, right next to the Audubon Society's Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary, north of Rt.6A in the Cummaquid area, with 2 surrounding acres of nature that attract many different types of birds, butterflies, and berries and also offers a relaxing and private setting to come home to after a day at the beach, whale watching, biking, shopping and the many other activities the area offer! This is a great home for an extended family vacation or groups of 6-7 friends for a getaway! For the summer season June-Labor Day stay for a week or more, in the off-season come for a 3-night stay or more! With the 2 gas fireplaces in this home, the Cape is a great place to visit in the Fall, Winter, and Spring too!
Spacious air conditioned home is immaculate (with a/c units in each bedroom and all living spaces), 2.5 bathrooms and a private outdoor shower on the deck, outdoor living space and a yard surrounded by acres of nature and beauty. First floor includes master bedroom with a king size bed along with a large full bath (walk-in shower), a combined living/dining area with a gas fireplace for those chilly nights to warm up next to while enjoying a glass of wine, and an open and fully-equipped kitchen with eat-at counter and 4 highback chairs, Also on first floor is a large 1/2 bath with washer and dryer and all supplies needed for laundry prep.
Walk up the stairs to another large living room with another gas fireplace, entertainment center, and desk/work area for those few times you might need to work at one. This home will make you forget about work, but there is space to get it done, just in case, with WiFi included also. Second floor also includes a large full bathroom with bathtub and shower, 2 large bedrooms with one bedroom with two twin beds, the other with a twin bed and one bunk bed with a twin on top and a double bed on the bottom. An Aerobed is available if another bed is needed. Also included is a Pack-n-Play for the little ones. Plenty of room for groups of 7-8 guests.
If you ever decide to leave the comfort of this home, you are only 1/2 mile walk from the Audubon Society's Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary with beautiful grass trails and meadows while on your way to Barnstable Harbor and the beach at the end of Bone Hill Road. Take a short ride to Millway Beach (lifeguarded) and along that road you'll find the Whale Watch excursion boat, and deep sea fishing charters and several of the finest restaurants in the area. Take a ride 10 minutes away and you'll come to the Cape Cod Mall, Hyannis and Island ferry boats to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket! Along Rt. 6A you'll find speciality shops, restaurants, general/country stores, antique shops, and so much more. And don't forget all the other Town of Barnstable fresh water and ocean beaches that the landlord beach pass gives you free access to!

This little Bear really enjoyed his trip to Barnstable and the Cape. This beautiful house is an easy drive from all of the major cities in New England, and an easy drive to the Cape Cod National Seashore and Martha’s Vineyard/Nantucket ferries. The house has a friendly feel that makes it so you cannot help but relax. It also has wonderful natural light throughout. Perfect for a family or couples, it has all the necessary amenities to make you feel at home. I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful landscape, numerous trails within walking distance and a number of wonderful restaurants nearby.
Without all the city lights, you can enjoy the simply amazing view of a star-filled sky on a clear night. So come, relax and enjoy this beautiful Cape Cod home for yourself! You’ll be glad you did.

This was our first time to the Cape Cod area. It was a wonderful trip. There was so much to do that I wish we could have stayed two weeks. This home is beautifully decorated and very clean. The pictures on the website accurately reflect the home. This was our first time renting from VRBO. Janet, the owner, was great to deal with. Very helpful and responsive to questions, etc.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: I am happy that I could accomodate you on your first visti to Cape Cod. Please come back again. I would love to have you! Janet

Given the fact we had 3 grandchildren with us, the location of this home was absolutely ideal. Located on a quiet street, very private large yard and a 12 minute walk to a fabulous beach was perfect. Being only 1.5 miles from the Village of Barnstable meant little time was wasted driving to the harbour, restaurants and grocery shopping. The home itself was perfect for the 3 children, 2 parents and the 2 grandparents. Everything required for our 1 week visit was made available for our use. The Owner was absolutely terrific and made us feel most welcome.A very pleasant experience and one which we will share with others!Owner response: I was very happy to accomodate you! I am glad you had a great stay. Janet

We had a great time in this quiet beautiful house with lot of space. The two floors are really convenient with children, everybody has his own space. You're close from the Audubon beach and close by car from a lot of Cape Cod beaches. The localization is perfect, near the mall, Trader Joe's and a lot of interesting things to do. We really enjoyed the Whale watching : the boats leave from Barnstable. The children spent a lot of time too in the garden and enjoyed all the indoor and outdoor games who are provided. Kitchen has everything.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: I am happy to have accomodated you! Please come again! Janet

This house was a fantastic rental for our week in the Cape! My husband and I traveled with our two young girls and his parents, and it was the perfect house for our group. My husband's parents enjoyed sitting in the garage space with a cup of coffee in the mornings, and we loved having the two living room areas that provided plenty of space for our girls to play. We found that the large bedrooms and bathrooms make this an ideal house for families traveling with children. Additionally, the beach pass was a great bonus, and allowed us to visit many of Barnstable's gorgeous beaches. The location of the home is great - nothing seems more than just a short drive away. The owner was so helpful when any questions arose, and we were so appreciative of her responsiveness. We have traveled to the Cape for years, renting a house each summer. This is the first time we have wanted to rent the same house again in the future! Thanks for a great vacation...we'll be back!Owner response: I enjoyed having you and look forward to accomodating your family again! Janet

Had a great time with my family (5). Janet keeps this home in remarkable shape and offers everything that you might need during your stay (sheets and towels). She is accessible if anything is missing and offers valuable tips and ideas for your stay. We loved the privacy, tranquility and green / lush nature around the house, the fire pit at night, BBQ to feed us and space to spread out on a rainy day. We would have loved to have walked to the beach but as kids get older (now 4 and 6) this will be easier to accomplish. All in all a special vacation we'll always remember.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your positive feedback! I am glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you consider my home for your Cape Cod vacation again! Best, Janet

From the moment we pulled into the house, we knew we had found a gem. The house itself is perfectly laided out for a vacation, great for our group to sit around with secure areas for the kids to explore and play outside. In addition, the house is in a great location--easy to get to numerous beaches and places of interest. Nothing is further than a 15minute drive with beaches easily walkable (15-20mins). We had a brilliantly time and have been raving to family and friends since then. Highly recommend for small groups and families.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Antre and family, It was a pleasure to have accommodated you. I would love to have you as my guests again. Thanks for recommending my vacation home to others too! Janet

Our extended family had a lovely Cape Cod vacation at this house! The house is perfect for a young family given the layout of the house, privacy, setting, and proximity to beaches. The first floor master is perfect for seniors and the large kitchen is great for meals and controlling costs. Our family has vacationed on the Cape many times but now believe that Barnstable is our favorite, with the Audubon Preserve, private beaches, and quite setting.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Please come back again. I enjoyed accomodating your family! Janet

A great home to rent! Everything was neat and organized and well-appointed. We flew to Massachusetts to vacation, so we couldn't bring much beach equipment. This house comes with beach chairs, towels, coolers, umbrellas, boogie- and kick-boards, so going to the beach was easy! Barnstable beach pass is a big bonus. (Try Hathaway Pond for freshwater swimming and to avoid the crowds.) Vacationed with four adults and four teens: everyone had space to relax and enjoy themselves.Owner response: Would love to have you as my guests anytime. Please conssider your next Cape Cod vacation with me again! Janet

Great place to stay. Staying at this home made me feel cozy like being in my own home. Short walk away or minute drive to the very private beach. Just minutes away from great shopping and restaurants. Loved waking up and taking an outdoor shower. Looking forward to going back next summer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Please come again. The Fall is the best time of year on Cape Cod. Bring a few friends and enjoy it! Janet

The house was just perfect for our family of 5. The split level house gave everyone some privacy, and plenty of room to move (particularly important when your 3 kids range in height from 5'11" to 6'5". The rooms were large and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and spices which was great when we utilized the propane barbeque on the patio. The outdoor double-head shower was a treat, and refreshing after a day at the beach. Our biggest disappointment was leaving the house after a brief week's stay! I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a very comfortable place to stay, and centrally located to all of the wonderful places to visit on the Cape! Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: I am an elementary school adminstrator and come to the Cape every vacation and as many weekends as possible; however, I invite you to share my home when I am not there myself and hope that you will enjoy it as much as I do!
Why the Owner Chose Barnstable:
My family bought our Cape home because we the love the area and want to live here someday. The home is close to Barnstable Harbor, Audubon Society Wildlife Sanctuary Sandy Neck beach, and Rt. 6A, and although close to Hyannis and all the amenities, it feels like we are far away from the hustle and bustle. Being close to the Audubon Society's Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary allows us a beautiful walk to the beach through the grass and meadow trails and also brings all the birds and their beauty right to our home.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The quaintness of Barnstable village and the bay side of the Cape offers 'Old Cape Cod' feel with everything from beaches to restaurants to shops to malls to whale watches, bike rides, long nature walks, to stress-relieving relaxation!
