This 5 year old, unique, custom designed One Bedroom House is situated in Ojochal in the southern Pacific zone of the country.
A 3 hr. 15 mins drive along the beautiful Costenera which is a paved road running along the coast. Or if you fancy a short hop on a small place it is just 40 min. flight to Palmar sur airport, then 20 min drive to the property.
Interior: The pictures should tell the story of the interior with its well organized, full kitchen, spacious living/dinint room, bedroom and bathroom. With windows all around the house as well as two sets of double French doors from the living and bedroom areas leading directlyu onto the patio you are sure to enjoy both sea and mountain breezes.
In detail: 1 bedroom with two windows, rounded tops are stained glass featuring heliconias and butterflies, as well as double French doors leading to the covered, front dining patio, 3pc bathroom with shower, half tiled walls. The living room with matching two windows same as the bedroom end, but with stained glass heliconias and humminbirds, also with double French doors leading to the covered exterior dining lania. The living room is open to a fully equipped kitchen, plus lots of tall 40" upper cabinets, lazy susan, stove, fridge, microwave.
There is excellent air flow from three interior plus one exterior 5 blade fans. Wonderful cooling daytime breezes off the Pacific Ocean and night-time breezes coming down from the Fila Costena Mountain range (2,600 ft) . The bedroom is Air Conditioned.
Pool and Patios: A short stroll through the Tropical garden brings you to the Saline Pool and a 2 meter deep end, beautifully tiled in small glass mosaics with a 7 " deep Wave Border edging, built in table, and best of all ... a close up view of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Watch the change of tides whilst sipping your fruit drinks. Various fruit and exotic trees are on the property including the sensational Ylang-Ylang trees with their sweet smelling yellow flowers spread all along the branches and situated besides the pool.
Saline: (salt water, for those not familiar this is not salt like the ocean it is salt like your tears, kind to your skin, hair, eyes and swim wear)
Village and Location:
International flavour, in our village one can hear Dutch, German, French, English as well as Spanish. The property is within walking distance of numerous restaurants: from the two riverside cafes, next street is Ylang Ylang a Dutch owned Indonesian restaurant plus at thebottom of the street there is a French-Moroccan restaurant with their beautiful gardens and outdoor patio. Then there are a nuber of other restaurants including our favourite, exquisite, French restaurant further along the road into the actual village itself, or on the same road a right turn will take you to Mamma y Papas an Italian owned restaurant featuring home made pasta dishes. El Fuego, as you would expect, serves Steaks.
We are located south of Dominical and its famous surfing conditions. Only 15 mins to Uvita and the famous Whales Tail.
The property is just minutes off the Costanera Highway, read that: as a well paved road...
Beaches /Relaxation:
1 km to the closest walking beach, then every 2 kms thereafter the area abounds with beautiful beaches for swimming which can be explorated at your leisure. No crowds, just ocean, sand, coconut palms and sun. We have included a picture of our favourite which is just 3 kms from your door to beach.
Activities: numerous vacation activities abound, waterfalls, fishing, bird watching, butterflies, monkeys, wildlife in general as well as secluded beaches up and down the coast from the property. Osa peninsula day trips accessible as are mangrove boat tours, Cano island for scuba /snorkeling day trips.
To the north are Jaco Beach, Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park also within easy reach for day tripping Hacienda Baru is just 25 mins on a well paved road, a very Interesting place for both young and more mature visitors, whether for nature hiking or canopy zip lining. To to south about 1 hour drive is the fabulous Sierpe River Mangrove boat tours, where it is possible to see numerous animals, birds, and flora in their natural habitat.

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely little retreat. The home was nice and cozy with everything required for a pleasant, relaxing stay. The house and grounds were neat as a pin. The pool was always a welcome retreat, throughout the day or whenever we returned from any venture away from the house. The birds around the house were awesome. Everyday we were treated to the sights and sounds of numerous Tucans as well as many other colorful birds. The hosts were very helpful with sharing their knowledge of the area and they suggested some wonderful excursions. We enjoyed traveling down the Sierpe river and the Tropical Paridise Gardens in Rio Claro. We enjoyed walking on the beaches, espeicially the Whale's Tail in Uvita. This home and area are ideal for those who want to truly relax and get away from the hustle and bustle and sit back and read a book or just chill out. th
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I had an amazing time at this beautiful place in Ojochal! The views are amazing from the house, with mountains to the east and the ocean to the west. Loved hearing and seeing toucans nearly every day early in the morning! The house itself is beautiful, and is quite private. The hosts are really nice folks, and very helpful with information about the area. Really excellent restaurants within walking distance from the house. A few of the many places to eat in Ojochal (Ylang Ylang, Exotica, Citrus) are destinations themselves. The beaches up the coast are stunning, and quiet. Lots to do in the area in terms of the outdoors: zip lining, mangrove tours, scuba, horseback riding, rafting, beaches. We stayed just over a week and almost forgot that we had to go home... We highly recommend this place!
